The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice

Old style decoration not to my taste, cream net curtains at windows.

We stayed for 2 nights and couldn't fault neither the place nor the service. It was exactly what we needed for our short break. Many thanks to the owners who are obviously devoting a lot of time and energy to their Guest House.

Very cordial and family-friendly atmosphere. Had a cottage-like ambience that we were looking for. Owners were very warm and helpful and readily helped to source for "halal" food that we needed, and helped to recommend how we could spend our time there, and with the bookings too! Breakfast time made us feel as if we were extended relatives staying over. Warm & informative chats with the owners and fellow residents. Breakfast was definitely the highlight of the stay - wonderful spread that was evidently cooked with pride. My younger kids loved the beds in the nooks with the lower ceiling though the wife and I knocked our heads against the beam a few times! Easy street parking that was readily available and right in front of the guesthouse. Felt safe. Location was actually nearer to Bowness than Windermere but that suited us fine as there were more facilities at Bowness anyway We had a lovely experience. Thank you very much. Will definitely recommend to my friends who would like to travel to the Lake District.

Had the rooms at the top of the stairs but not much choice actually as we needed a quad room, and the owner helped us to lug our huge luggages. Much appreciated.

Everything- excellent in every respect! Richard + Paula run a fantastic guest house- breakfasts are second to none and the craic and friendliness come so naturally- thanks, guys! Our room was spotless and there was an en suite (room 2) where you could swing a cat- only joking, but it was a very good size. Our granddaughter left her iPad lead in our room + Richard posted it the next day- again, thanks, guys! We really enjoyed our stay and recommend Kirkwood to everyone!!

    Having to leave!

I have to admit that this is the best B&B I ever stayed. The room is cozy with a favorable scent. Hosts are friendly and nice, they gave me a lot of useful information. The breakfast is sooooooo yummy! I love all dishes! Kirkwood is definately the best B&B in lake district. You will regret if you dont choose this one!

Kirkwood - a comfortable experience in keeping with the landscape, the house was built in 1890 and retains charms of this bye gone age. Richard and Pauline are excellent hosts. 10 out of 10. Mervyn (Dublin, Ireland).

Really lovely couple who ran the place - went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Tasty breakfasts - really accommodating about getting in the things that we wanted. Rooms were immaculate and well stocked with little extras. Can't recommend it enough - would stay again.

The family room was ideal for the four of us. The children loved their bed area hidden behind a curtain. The ensure shower room was spotless. Paula was very helpf and friendly. Breakfast was great with lots of options for the children too.

The double bed was okay but could benefit from a more comfortable mattress.
