Situated in the Lake District, the Kirkwood Guest House is 15 minutes’ walk from the town centres of both Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere. My husband and i enjoyed a super short break at the traditional Kirkwood Guest House, that is comfortable, welcoming and good value for money. Its nice to see a Guest House full of traditional character and not ultra modern that can sometimes give you that cold feeling. Mags and Boyd were the perfect hosts and the tray of coffee and biscuits on our arrival was much appreciated! Our large downstairs room was very comfortable, warm and spotlessley clean with a modern and spacious en-suite. The cooked breakfast is delicious, however there are lighter choices and daily specials such as fruit smoothies. If like us you enjoy something sweet on your toast then the delicious preserves will not disappoint. If you want to enjoy anything from a stroll to a ramble then Boyd is happy to share his knowledge of the beautiful countryside and provide you with your own personal itinerary. Big thank you to Mags for providing me with some of the lovely smelling hand soap to take home after i metioned how much i liked it! The location is perfect as it is central to both Windemere and Bowness-on-Windermere, so lots of choice for eating out. Overall a delightful stay that we would not hestiate to recommend and we look forward to returning to Kirkwood on our next visit to the Lakes.

Mags & Boyd were lovely hosts, very helpful and knowledgeable. The room was excellent and I love that they provide wineglasses and a corkscrew and allow you to bring your own wine. The house was in great shape and very cosy. No problems with parking. The breakfast was delicious. Hard to say anything bad about it! The only tiny complaint is that it would have been nice if the shower pressure was stronger. This wasn't an issue though, and definitely wouldn't prevent us from returning.
