Cambridge as a city
Carpets not vacummed, tatty furnishings and rooms need re-furbishment. En suite in rooms 5 and 3 are like over-sized suitcases (no bigger!). Shower in room 3 is electric and the water pressure is so low it cannot make a spray so it just trickles down the shower attachment. The heating system makes regular on and off pumping sounds, which disturbs sleep. At nearly £60 for each room this represents poor value, but I wouldn't want to stay at any price whilst in this condition.
The people, clarity in prices and services.
The staff was not accommodating
Greeted to a hallway that had an overpowering smell of stale cigarette, which led to my clothes smelling of smoke. The bed was concaved. The radiator didn't warm the room even though it was on full power. The shower was hot for about 3 minutes and then cold. All in all not a nice stay.
The guest house is located at about 10 min walk from the city centre and is very quiet and comfortable.
No breakfast is served in the morning, but a small grocery store is available on the same street.
The wifi connection works bad all the time
Nice, quiet location, walking distance from the centre of Cambridge
It happended to be a very cold night with minus degrees and the heater did not work. I was too tired to get upp and get some help with it, so I took extra blanket and socks and managed until the morning
In general the service was good
The stuff dialed a wrong number to call me while I was out and charged me one night's fee for delay of checking out, being really unfriendly
The worst hotel i have ever had The room was really small, cold and dirty. Some insects in the toilet awww The cheapest room costs 30 pounds(from the paper on the door). I paid 45 pounds, but they gave me the smallest room(it was written 'room 4' on my receipt, but they suddenly changed the number to 10) Even the shower didnt work properly. Dont go there unless u want to stay with insects:(
The room I had was room number 1, it has everything in it even though it a bit small. Darren was very friendly and helpful when I checked in. Many thanks!
pleasant when you know the way
bit of a hike finding it at first
Staff welcoming, approachable and efficient. En suite very clean, if small. Room in general very clean.Plenty of tea, coffee, milk. Bed comfortable and v. clean. For a short stay, it was ideal for me.
It sounds rather petty, but I thought a new pair of curtains would have enhanced the room. Curtains were a bit shabby, too long, covering radiator when drawn and, because room was small, they had to be jammed down the side of the bed.
Comfortable and welcoming
There was a noise at regular times during the night that disturbed my sleep unfortunately. It sounded like the heating system or something similar. That's my only complaint.
Friendly and helpful staff. Very good value for money. Had all you could want in the room.
No breakfast (known in advance so not an issue)
The staff were very nice and helpful and the bed was comfortable. Situated in a very accessible, easy to find location, just a 15 minutes walk from the centre. Close to supermarket Spar. I definitely recommend it.
The bathroom is quite small
Room was unclean & very dusty. Had to try to clean TV Screen to enable better viewing, but didn't have a cleansing cloth !! Shower too cold, hot water didn't arrive even after 10 mins!! Shower head too high and only one setting! Was ok if your 8 ft tall... Very disappointed left a day early, even though paid in full.
room was cosy and nicely decorated with matching details, the bed was very comfortable
not enough warm water in the shower
Cleanliness Comfortable beds Price & location
Shower temperatures very erratic! Slightly musty smell in rooms/smoky smell in hallways Tiny tvs
Attitude/welcome of staff. Being in an annex at the bottom of the garden down a ridiculously narrow path. The smallest shower room I have ever seen. Dirt under beds, along skirtings, around shower. 'Wardrobe' in the eaves was the only place to try to hang clothes - almost impossible to use.
It's near to city centre and it's located in quite place
It's close to centre. It has to be told: new windows which keep the wind out, but the walls....
It is shocking how much money is lost by spending energy through non isolated walls and ignoring basic knowledge of economic housebuilding and management: a bed, or any other furniture should not be pressed against the heating unit, and the roof/door have to be isolated.
20 Minute Walk into City Centre. Some Local Shops close.
Failed to Notice - no Breakfast. Room to Front - too noisy from Traffic.
Ground floor access with suitcases.
We were apparently bombarded with requests for time of arrival on our home computer. We had no access to the internet while travelling (we are not nerds!) and inadvertently omitted time on our booking. This seemed to be close to a capital offence.
