Staff were extremely helpful and polite. Room was very clean and well-presented, had everything I needed for the few days I was there. Very nice shower too!
Wifi couldn't be found in my room on the first floor. Room decor was a bit gaudy for my taste.
It was close to the centre and the staff were friendly. The room was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. I appreciated the kettle for tea and coffee.
The toilet seat was broken, and the room I stayed in was very tiny, so I felt the price was slightly high for this particular room. Also, there were no explicit instructions given for an early check out. Walls were somewhat thin and I could hear the guest next door to me throughout the night speaking on the phone.
The quality of wifi and the fact was functional and free. There is a Spar supermarket nearby, which is helpful, as there is no other food option in the area.
The bath is too small. The ceiling of the bath was grey and had blackish spots, most likely due to some pipes' leaks and not a recent paint. There was a weird "old-people" like smell in the room.
The host is very good person. He told us about the Cambridge concisely.
A little bit dirty, but doesn't matter.
The location was good and so was the quality of bed linen & towels. It was clean & staff/owners were helpful.
Room was a small double & en suite very cramped. The bed, pillows & duvet were very uncomfortable and the room had too many frills. Although the room had tea/coffee making facilities (no breakfast offered) we didn't think it was very good value for £75.
Nice staff, quite close from the city center.
lack of cleaness (the toilets were dirty and the room and bathroom were not clean), and poor comfort for the price.
Considerate service including the loan of an umbrella.
clean and value for money if you need a clean place for a reasonable amount of money this place will do
not really at walkable distance from the center
Very close to the City Centre, and the river. Really quite inexpensive
Maybe a tiny bit shabby
Very good location, quiet district, pubs near house, 10 minutes walking to the city centre. Very helpfull and friendly staff.
Nice and friendly staff, the room is small but quiet and I think it's a good deal considering how expensive Cambridge is!!
First, Cambridge is overpriced for housing/hotels/b&bs/guest houses. But Kirkwood House is reasonable for a few days stay. It is a guest house, no food, but they will call a cab for you, and are pleasant. Standard is typical for England.
Very thin walls, but this is typical of older houses in England. Housing is very much overpriced in Cambridge, so price/quality is always poor.
The location was ideal
The shower tiles were broken and dangerous. The tv had no remote. The room had no air conditioning or fan-it was a sauna. There were toenails on the carpet-not mine. The bed was made but with the same sheets-never washed and the guest house email system was a joke- constantly asking me to confirm my booking even after i replied 5 times.
Very warm welcome by Darren and good advise about Cambridge.
Good wifi network and location. Good interiors. All facilities smooth.
Absence of good breakfast.
The bed was very comfy
The water pressure was very poor
Friendliness of owner and son, located within walking distance of centre Kettle, tea, coffee, tv, wifi Comfortable bed Owner kept my suitcase after checkout on my last day Competitive rate for last minute booking for Cambridge
No channels on tv first day Shower temp fluctuated Upstairs floor creaked whenever that guest arrived but luckily he/she didn't move around much None of which spoiled my visit and was more than made up for by friendly welcome.
Although no reception staff was there, a hand written letter, with the basic stuffs that I would need to know about my stay, was a very personalised touch.
Extremely compact room, as you would expect in a budget hotel... Location wise a bit far away from city centre..
Very kind staff, nice rooms and most important -->clean, nice walk to the city centre.
Maybe too noisy (very thin walls) and not so comfortable bed (but I think beds depend on the room).
Free wifi, clean, location
Very small bathroom
Friendly staff, convenient location
Parking out front.
Cramped room, small beds and a leak in the middle of the night from the ceiling that blew the light and dripped onto the bed.
Calm neighbourhood, not far from the river and the large park Jesus Green. The city centre is about 15 minutes away on foot, a nice walk if you have the time.
The lady in the reception was very unhelpful when I checked out -- upon my asking whether I could store my luggage there and pick it up in the evening, her response was a firm "Absolutely not!" While I understand they don't have a lot of storage space, I still found her lack of willingness to even suggest alternatives unhelpful, to say the least. So don't count on being able to store your luggage there if you're not leaving Cambridge until afternoon/evening.
A good value guest house.
