Attitude/welcome of staff. Being in an annex at the bottom of the garden down a ridiculously narrow path. The smallest shower room I have ever seen. Dirt under beds, along skirtings, around shower. 'Wardrobe' in the eaves was the only place to try to hang clothes - almost impossible to use.
It's near to city centre and it's located in quite place
It's close to centre. It has to be told: new windows which keep the wind out, but the walls....
It is shocking how much money is lost by spending energy through non isolated walls and ignoring basic knowledge of economic housebuilding and management: a bed, or any other furniture should not be pressed against the heating unit, and the roof/door have to be isolated.
20 Minute Walk into City Centre. Some Local Shops close.
Failed to Notice - no Breakfast. Room to Front - too noisy from Traffic.
Ground floor access with suitcases.
We were apparently bombarded with requests for time of arrival on our home computer. We had no access to the internet while travelling (we are not nerds!) and inadvertently omitted time on our booking. This seemed to be close to a capital offence.
Good use of space in the room. Essentials provided.
Room very small so difficult to move around.
The bathroom smelt. The room needed a good Hoover and a dust
Clean room with nice staff, and the Wi-if is good as well.
It is a little bit far away from the city center and the bathroom is very small.
Booked for two nights. Room A (is on the ground floor in a different double-storeyed detached house behind the main house, but that's not a problem), it was quite annoying largely due to continuous and loud squeaky roof. Couldn't sleep properly at all.
Staff were extremely helpful and polite. Room was very clean and well-presented, had everything I needed for the few days I was there. Very nice shower too!
Wifi couldn't be found in my room on the first floor. Room decor was a bit gaudy for my taste.
Friendly and helpful staff. Big bed Private bathroom
A bit far away from the centre: 20 minutes walk. Nothing crazy in the end.
Family running the business is very helpful - upon arriving I was given information about the are and how to reach the centre. Rooms are kept very clean.
It was close to the centre and the staff were friendly. The room was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. I appreciated the kettle for tea and coffee.
The toilet seat was broken, and the room I stayed in was very tiny, so I felt the price was slightly high for this particular room. Also, there were no explicit instructions given for an early check out. Walls were somewhat thin and I could hear the guest next door to me throughout the night speaking on the phone.
The quality of wifi and the fact was functional and free. There is a Spar supermarket nearby, which is helpful, as there is no other food option in the area.
The bath is too small. The ceiling of the bath was grey and had blackish spots, most likely due to some pipes' leaks and not a recent paint. There was a weird "old-people" like smell in the room.
The host is very good person. He told us about the Cambridge concisely.
A little bit dirty, but doesn't matter.
The location was good and so was the quality of bed linen & towels. It was clean & staff/owners were helpful.
Room was a small double & en suite very cramped. The bed, pillows & duvet were very uncomfortable and the room had too many frills. Although the room had tea/coffee making facilities (no breakfast offered) we didn't think it was very good value for £75.
Nice staff, quite close from the city center.
lack of cleaness (the toilets were dirty and the room and bathroom were not clean), and poor comfort for the price.
Considerate service including the loan of an umbrella.
clean and value for money if you need a clean place for a reasonable amount of money this place will do
not really at walkable distance from the center
Very close to the City Centre, and the river. Really quite inexpensive
Maybe a tiny bit shabby
Very good location, quiet district, pubs near house, 10 minutes walking to the city centre. Very helpfull and friendly staff.
Nice and friendly staff, the room is small but quiet and I think it's a good deal considering how expensive Cambridge is!!
First, Cambridge is overpriced for housing/hotels/b&bs/guest houses. But Kirkwood House is reasonable for a few days stay. It is a guest house, no food, but they will call a cab for you, and are pleasant. Standard is typical for England.
Very thin walls, but this is typical of older houses in England. Housing is very much overpriced in Cambridge, so price/quality is always poor.
The location was ideal
The shower tiles were broken and dangerous. The tv had no remote. The room had no air conditioning or fan-it was a sauna. There were toenails on the carpet-not mine. The bed was made but with the same sheets-never washed and the guest house email system was a joke- constantly asking me to confirm my booking even after i replied 5 times.
