Nice owner, extraordinary style, very outstanding breakfast

The Guest House was very comfortable and Alastair was an excellent host.

The accomadation was everything you would need for a short break,very clean and comfortable beds ,towels etc.The breakfast was cooked to order and quality food.

The Knap House was so inviting, and very clean. We loved both nights there and the breakfast was great!

It was excellently furnished and I received a very friendly welcome. The breakfast was amazing and the owner very accommodating.

-Great location on the harbour front -fantastic host in Alastair who is very friendly, welcoming and informative -feels like you are staying at a friends house with a very low key checkin process -room had everything including tea/coffee facilities, fridge and fresh milk - absolutely spotlessly clean and tidy -guest lounge and a great breakfast room -perfect British breakfast cooked fresh to order in addition to a cold buffet -best paid b&b we have stayed in and that includes over 15 hotels across Europe. We should note that Alastair used to work for a large hotel chain and knows exactly what guests look for and need in a hotel stay.

-Our bed was a little on the firm side but that comes down to personal preference I guess, certainly wouldn't deter us from staying again

Location, standard of accommodation and service

The proprietor of the Knap has many years experience in hospitality management and it shows. My companion and I have visited hotels worldwide and we appreciated the attention to detail at the Knap. E.g., our room had a refrigerator and bathrobes, both unusual in a B & B. There was an excellent shower, the opposite being a pet hate. We also like elephants!

There was nothing to dislike.

When I booked the Knap Guesthouse I reviewed the numerous superlatives describing Alistair's guest abode. None of the previous statements were unfounded. The Knap Guest House is indeed the most relaxing and comfortable holdiday accommodation my wife and I have had the pleasure of staying in. Alistair is a true gentleman and attended to our every need. We only wish we could have stayed there for a few more days.

Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff. A perfect place to stay if you're catching the ferry from Kennacraig. Highly recommended.

A friendly welcome from Alistair, the owner. Roomy bedroom with a comfortable bed, tea making facilities (including fresh milk!). Decent breakfast cooked by Alistair to order. Interesting ornaments from foreign parts.

The owner is very friendly and cooks a good breakfast. The house is very nice and cosy and appears newly restored in a classical design. The location is perfect for getting the ferry for Islay.

The Knap Guest House was a great place to stay.I t is right on the harbourside with plenty of very good seafooc resturants within 300 yards. Our room & the breakfast were exceptional with plenty of choice. Nothing was to much trouble for Alister our host who gave us plenty of information on what to do around Tarbert Argyll. It is a long drive to get there but well worth the experiance.

We didn't find the bed terribly comfortable.

Cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough. There is nothing that I could fault, except maybe that it is so far from home, we can't stay there on a regular basis!

Made welcome by Alistair - house was very clean and beds very comfortable. Food was fabulous!...he managed to cater for six turning up for breakfast together and still put out gourmet food.....I Will return...excellent value or money and beautiful view.

My fiance and I were made to feel very welcome the moment we stepped through the door and were greeted by alistair. Our room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was amazing. Alistair was very helpful in advising us where to eat and places of interest to visit. All in all we had a fabulous weekend and are looking forward to our next visit.
