Knavesmire Manor Hotel302 Tadcaster Road, YO24 1HE York (Show map) Good, Score from 236 reviews“My friend and I had an excellent break in a comfortable hotel with good service. Pluses were economy, convenience for York and surroundind area, good free parking and good food.”

Glasgow
With free Wi-Fi and parking, this Georgian manor house looks out over York Racecourse. It has beautiful original features, a heated indoor pool, and an à la carte restaurant. The Knavesmire Manor Hotel is less than 2 miles from York Minster and the historic city center. There are regular buses, which guests can catch from just outside the building. The house was built in 1833. There are traditional-style rooms in the main building and bright, modern motel-style rooms outside, with direct access to the car park and gardens. There is a large conservatory in the gardens with an indoor heated pool and spa bath. The bar offers a range of drinks, and the oak-paneled Restaurant 302 serves English and continental food, made with fresh local ingredients. Hotel Rooms: 20

The Breakfast was good and plenty to choice from. We stayed for one night, I am pleased we didn't spend too much time in our room. The room smelt as if someone had been smoking , the cups were chipped and a table lamp not working. The only thing that would put me off staying again would be the cleanliness.

I spent 2 nights in this hotel with my husband and 2 children. Even though I asked for a family room with a shower we were given a 'suite' with 2 bedrooms, a toilet and separate bathroom which did not have a shower just a bath. The rooms were very small with low ceilings and one of the bedrooms did not have any window which could open for air. Our stay was ok but do not think we will be returning.

The location of the hotel, close enough to walk into York centre. We were given a room in the attic, so no views of the racecourse. Very small window too high up to see out of. Eaves in the room very low so all had to stoop around in the room. Very cramped and dated.

Extremely friendly staff, food delicious, especially the breakfast. Kippers were fab. Very quiet rooms, little disturbance or noise. A good 12 to 15 minute walk into town but that was O.K. as it walked off the lovely breakfast. Swimming pool was clean and warm, with towels provided. Would like to have had separate changing rooms in the swimming pool area. Also a little more light to walk down to the pool, rather dark with some steps to negotiate.

The staff were friendly and the room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was good quality and nicely presented. Although our room was clean and adequate, the hotel is tired and jaded with public areas and rooms in need of major redecoration and modernisation. It is more in line with a basic B&B than a high quality hotel. We chose the hotel on the basis of its leisure facilities - pool area - which was located in an outside conservatory that was cold, none to clean and very unwelcoming. Overall, the hotel served its purpose in providing us with clean accommodation for a couple of nights. However it is not worth the tariff it charges and there are plenty of other better hotels in York for a lot less money.

The location was very useful and the rooms were warm and comfortable. Would have preferred to have a room in the hotel itself rather than the annexe but was not a problem. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The food let the hotel down to the extent that I would not reccommend it to anyone. The breakfast was passable but nothing particular to reccommend about it. we had an evening meal the 2nd night of our stay as we had been in the City all day and didn't want to go back in to town. the food was very disappointing. The onions in the tart I had were so horribly sweet it was inedible and the veg was overcooked and soggy. My friend's steak was none too good either. We felt that the food could be improved quite easily with a lot more care and attention to what was being provided. Overall the food at all the meals gave the impression of the chef being disinterested in what was being produced from the kitchen. Pity to spoil an otherwise nice place.

It was the right decision, place, for us to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I was with the Hounsham & Heath parties. Thank you very much. The meal on Saturday eve was lovely. Also liked it that a bus stop was very near and we could get about easily.

Location - on bus route into the city. Free parking facility. Friendly helpful staff. Indoor swimming pool which will be taken advantage of when we visit in the spring/summer. A bit too cold on our recent trip as access is via outside path. Good choice at breakfast and cooked to order. Also offer of moving room as ground floor room became vacant but we were quite happy where we were. Only minor point - no evening bar meal service on a Sunday, but recommendation of a very good pud nearby made up for this.

The location to the town centre was good and access to the wlk around the York Racecourse. Room and water was cold when arrived. Had to ask to put heating on/up. Surely staff should anticipate this? Swimming pool and hot tub were pretty cold too. No late bar and service a bit indifferent (not particulary well stocked).

A very warm welcome upon arrival. We found the hotel perfect for our needs as a base but we did think it was lookin warn although we liked the traditional style the modern touches as in bedroom furniture and wall art just spoilt it! A nice fire on a cold night would have made the bar area much more welcoming too. Would definitley book to bring the family for a visitor weekend. We didn't have time to try the pool on this occasion but looked inviting so maybe next time. Room was a little on the cold side and bathroom very small and in need of some refurbishment. stick to traditional or tasteful mix of both on furnishings
