It was perfectly adequate for our needs, it was quiet when we stayed there but I could imagine it bouncing on race days. Quite pleasant place.Breakfast good. |

A good location (20 minute walk into city) with good public transport. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Poor evening meal, portions too small even for the children. Would be an idea to have a few board games/cards etc for children as not a lot to do in the evening as the pool was unfortunately, closed. |

The hotel was very clean and tidy, there was mention of refurbishment going on but we didn't seem to notice any disturbance. The breakfast was great and the staff were very pleasant, always willing to help with any quieires. They phoned taxi's for us, we asked to borrow an iron and they provided an iron board too and they let us leave our luggage secure on our last day so we didn't have to carry it around with us. The staff at the Knavesmire made our stay alot more pleasant as we expected. The hotel does have some out-houses joined on which we didn't get put in one, but if we did, we would of been just as pleased as I checked what the hotel consisted of before we booked. Overall the stay was enjoyable, will visit again, Thank you Knavesmire |

Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Friendly and very helpful staff, Spacious rooms, generous breakfast provisions. Right on a frequent bus route into York although we walked the 20 mins with relative ease with our 4 and 7 year old. Nicer than some of the reviews had led us to believe. Some of the rooms are still in the process of modernisation and the pool was closed but we didn't miss it at all. The evening meals and bar were quite pricy for York but overall it was a very good hotel. |

We stayed at this hotel but it is probably the worst we have stayed in. I wish we had stayed in a Travel Inn as I think the standard of room and breakfast are 10 times better ! This was a late booking but even if we had booked early I doubt we would have had a better room. It was a motel type room situated in the noisy car park. I paced the room out and was 12 paces by 6. The en suite ! Was tiny you could wash your hands while on the toilet. Basic shower. Breakfast was full english ! 1 rasher of bacon 1 sausage 1 hash brown 1 mushroom 1 egg & a tablespoon of beans. On our last morning my 1st mouthfull of egg produced a hair that must have been at least 6in long !!! As it was our ladt morning I couldnt be bothered to complain. |

Staff couldn't do enough and made the children most welcome Hotel is currently being revamped which will be a bonus, so the pool was out of use which was a little disappointing for our two smaller guests! |

family room was quaint and comfortable. breakfast was very good. Good location 15 minutes walk from city centre, quiet at night. Friendly staff. Lovely view over the race course. Some fixtures and fittings are past their best. Heating in the bedroom was turned off when we arrived so the room was very cold. |

The staff were very helpful, even though the pool was being renovated we were allowed to use the pool at a neighbouring hotel. Also we were advised on our arrival that they had just finished a new room for us to use so that we were not cramped with our little boy. Fantastic room Nothing really apart from the room was on the front of the house and the road was a little busy and noisy at night. but you can not have everything, still a fantastic stay |

Check in and out was very quick with very little fuss. Our trip co-incided with a New Year's Eve 7 course banquet that the hotel was hosting at £50 per head. This however meant there was no other food available at the hotel at more affordable prices (to suit a family of 4). We were unaware of this at the time of booking. |

Ability to have breakfast in the room so we didn't have to get baby ready & fed before going for breakfast, also able to get a baby bath from reception. The rooms in the outdoor part of hotel are a bit draughty. |

The relaxed atmosphere reinforced by the staff, its location close to York centre and it is on a major route in and out of York so is easy to get to. |

We liked the house from the outside and the view of the racecouse. Breakfast was good. We did not like the shabby and dated appearance of the room. Our evening meals were not good. Tasteless pork and warmed over steak and ale pie. |
