With free Wi-Fi and parking, this Georgian manor house looks out over York Racecourse. It has beautiful original features, a heated indoor pool, and an à la carte restaurant. The Knavesmire Manor Hotel is less than 2 miles from York Minster and the historic city center. There are regular buses, which guests can catch from just outside the building. The house was built in 1833. There are traditional-style rooms in the main building and bright, modern motel-style rooms outside, with direct access to the car park and gardens. There is a large conservatory in the gardens with an indoor heated pool and spa bath. The bar offers a range of drinks, and the oak-paneled Restaurant 302 serves English and continental food, made with fresh local ingredients. Very helpful staff, good breakfast. The place is a bit tired and dingy. The so-called 'family room' was just a normal sized room with more beds crammed in. Given this the price was too high.

I reality nothing,The room we had was freezing, the water pressure in the shower was non-existent,and when you stay in a hotel you expect to be able to eat there everyday, not when they decide to close the restraunt on a Sunday for no obvious reason,if you run a hotel, for me the hotel is obliged to provide its guests food everyday in the restraunt, and also room service.I Would ever consider ever returning to your hotel

Location was great, rooms were comfortable and large and the staff is welcoming, cheery and helpful. The breakfast is great! The heating was not consistent, water was not very hot, hall light was not working making evening arrivals to room a challenge.

the front of the building and the breakfast. as far as i was concerned,i was booking to stay in a hotel. i was very unhappy to find that we were shoved into a chalet type room out of the main hotel.when i asked about this i was told if i checked in earlier we may have got into the main hotel-not good enough. the bed was uncomfortable, the hot water didnt get hot and the walls were like paper so we didnt get much sleep due to the noise of cars parking and neighbours coming in late-not their fault tho.having stayed there before in the hotel and having a good time, this was very dissapointing.

Comfy beds, friendly staff, nice breakfast and a nice atmosphere. Good location and car park. The pool and bar were very good features that are not easy to find at this price. Much better than the comparable travelodge in my view.

It looked attractive, good location, reasonable price (for York). All in all it was fine and I would stay again although might try and get a room in the hotel next time. Everything was fine really. I had read the reviews on TripAdvisor about the thin walls in the rooms in the annexe and certainly tried to be as quiet as I could! The reviews were pretty accurate; the shower we had took absolutely ages to get on an even heat and when it did it didn't flow fast. But really

location was not far from york, staff were helpful in letting us know places to eat ,go etc. thebreakfast was very good. although we rang the hotel the day before they did not mention that they had had a flood in the dinning room so that it was closed also in the swimming pool area which was flooded. the double bed was 2 singles pushed together with bedding that didnt fit also the bathroom was very tiny with the sink in the bedroom. 2 people were staying but there was only one chair to sit in and no table to stand drinks on etc. we went down several times to the bar/reception area and could not find a member of staff to serve us so drank elswere. allth e furniture could do with an upgrade. pleased we didnt pay full price would have been asking for our money back.

A very friendly welcome on arrival and next morning during breakfast. Enormous room could sleep 4, cosy and warm. Bathroom was also large and well equipped with plenty of towels and bits & pieces. Tea tray very much appreciated: plenty on it including biscuits! If there had been more guests in on my particular night, the car park would have struggled I think. I was in the main 'house' part of the hotel which is obviously a lot older than the new chalets at the back.

It is a charming old building, nicely furnished & decorated. Our room was small but clean & comfortable. The staff were friendly & helpful. We walked into town, about a mile, but there was a bus stop not far away too. We used the swimming pool which was clean & warm, free towels were provided. The breakfast which was included in the room price was well cooked & presented with a plentiful supply of toast & tea! Free car parking is also a plus with a city hotel. We didn't use the bar or restaurant so can't comment on them but we did look at the menu which looked reasonably priced. The pool changing room could do with an upgrade, also it was unisex with only curtains on the shower & toilets rather than doors. Luckily there was only my partner & myself in there but I wouldn't have wanted to get changed when there were any other men in there.
