Location despite the weather. Feeling of luxury yet in a comfortable environment. Food was of a very high quality. Staff were polite and friendly.
The situation, friendly and helpful staff, delicious meals and the dogs!
Beautiful country house hotel with magnificent views. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff and wonderful food. A huge tick in pretty much every box.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, service was great, room clean and very comfortable, view is amazing and the food is second to none. Great relaxing weekend with beautiful scenery and nice walks close by.
We like the atmosphere, food and the owner
I would just suggested to have a better bread selection for breakfast ( brown bread...maybe home made...) and have some soya milk as an option
What's not to like?
Location, mooring buoys, quality of service, quality of food

Great location, great place, great staff, great food, great atmosphere! It is a cosy country house for an amazing Scottish weekend.
Attentive service Comfortable rooms
The staff and location
Poor dinner main course one night. Also noisy function beneath bedroom that kept me awake and I could not relax. Also tv too small and satellite channels poor reception
Everything, location the people, the build in& surroundings, extended our time as were so delighted. It was excellent accomadating our dietary needs& lovely choice on menu& pre dinner drink before ordering was a lovely idea, well be back with friends for sure,
There was nothing not to like!
Great Scottish manor house in a quiet location over-looking Loch Long. Lovely hunting lodge feel.
Beds are surprisingly hard. Not exactly cheap.
The hotel is lovely, the location on the lake was beautiful. The food was excellent.
We were surprised that the wine had a screw cap - perhaps this is Scottish. The price was a bit high.
The staff and particularly the owners were extremely friendly and helpful and courteous. The atmosphere made you feel really welcome. The Restaurant and food out of this world with amazing views of the Lock. Would thoroughly recommend Knockderry House to friends and family who wish to spend time in Scotland. Thank you all for a marvellous and relaxing stay.
There was nothing about the stay or staff etc we didn't like.
Fabulous location. Great food and wine. Very accommodating staff.
Other guest paying TV loud at 2am. Unavailability of checkin/access past midnight / 12.30
Excellent evening meal - really surprisingly good and inventive meal (probably the best we had in two weeks in the Highlands/Islands). Well trained and courteous staff. Pretty setting.
Nothing not to like
location, staff and food
decor cleanliness ambience of the hotel and the staff
Really friendly staff Room was fantastic Great Value
Overlooking the Loch beautiful scenery
Room overlooked the kitchen and was noisy.
The room was large, the house is pretty. The view reminiscent of the lake of Geneva. We had a very good dinner though, gracefully served.
First of all we were misled in terms of the location of the hotel because booking.com gives distances in air miles and not actual driving miles. Arriving from the North, and its free open spaces, we had to drive past an industrial compound and then passed through a property belonging to the Ministry of Defense... We had been so spoiled by the magnificent landscapes we had seen in our previous week travelling through Scotland that we were slightly disappointed by the lovely yet somehow normal view on the Loch. We were even more disappointed when asking about the walks to do and the things to see around the hotel to learn there was not much. Our room was very large and very well furnished, yet the window was opening onto a wall and was above the hotel ventilation. Its noise Thank God stopped at night. Upon waking up, we went for breakfast at around 9:30 but we were told, no breakfast was served after 9. As we had paid for the breakfast we would have appreciated at least getting a coffee. We then decided to leave the hotel a night earlier as we fell stuck there, it is not the kind of retreat we were looking for and told the kind owner (at 10:15) it was just because of the location. We left, by an easier route South. Booking .com called us and said that the hotel was kindly not going to charge us for the night we did not spend there. Obviously we were very happy at saving 125£ as we had to book a hotel somewhere else. And rightfully just as disappointed when we saw our card was debited to learn that if the room had not been charged, a cancellation charge of exactly the same rate as the room's rate had been charged. Which I think is a rather dishonest manipulation of words.
I had planned a surprise at knockderry country house for a birthday treat for my partner and a treat it was, from the service ,food and accomodation, not to mention the scenery. It was an excellent start to our few days away. Thanks to Beth for helping me out with my surprise my partner really was impressed. Top marks for a beautiful place and to a very attentive staff. Well done Beth and Murdo. Could not fault the place just wish we could have stayed longer.
The Knockderry property is just outstanding, facilities were first class, as was the staff, food was amazing, atmosphere great.
Somewhat out of the way through winding country roads
The views from the hotel were great and the food was amazing.
We couldn't find fault with anything.
