Staff were good except the man we met on arrival -Our stay was not an experience we would like to repeat. 100 stg - astounding charge for a very poor return. Lights which did not work- solution was to remove the bulb! Rubbish bin overflowing at back door for 2 days .Shower doors not fitting, bathroom door jammed on the floor, hairdryer was not working, Food was mediocre, paintwork chipped, heater was covered in rust. We were a party of 5 and had 2 double and one single room- The single room for one of our party was about 7ft square, no bedside table as there was no room. The whole hotel is badly in need of an update and makeover. It is in no way a 3 star hotel. Australians beware- do not book into this hotel. Use b & b as they are cheaper, cleaner and much better value.

Quick and friendly service. Convenient choice in evening of restaurant or bar meals. Very good breakfast including a proper kipper - quite rare these days when a boil-in-bag style fillet is common. Also, a good rate via Booking.com - other sites gave a higher rate or even said the hotel was full, when it was not....

The room was clean and warm On arrival there was no sign to car park so off loaded luggage and took into reception only to be told to take it out again and around the back of the hotel and across the car park to the entrance to the rooms, all this was up hill so quite a route march. Bedroom was dated, breakfast was dried up and not very appetising.

It was located where I wanted to be for the timw I was in the area. My wife has mobility difficulties so the lack of a lift was problematic, otherwise access from car park to bedrooms was very good.

I liked it for the convenience factor, and the general feeling of pleasantness from most members of staff. I didn't so much like the evidence left over of the previous occupant having been in my room.

The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. We had a pleasant dinner. The hotel decor is a little tired in places. The breakfast buffet was very good but the cooked breakfast only average.

Friendly, comfortable hotel with good food. Central location, particularly convenient for exploring this stunning and popular area of the Highlands, even for users of public transport, with the bus stances for Glasgow, Fort William, the Isle of Skye and Inverness less than five minutes' walk away, and the station for the scenic railway to Inverness only about twice that.

The food was quite good, but nothing else. The room was very "tired" and basic, there was mould in the window surrounds, burn marks on the carpet and a feeling of dowdiness about the room. We stayed at 4 hotels on our tour of the west coast of Scotland, this was the second most expensive and by far the worst. The cheapest hotel we stayed in was 100% better than the Kyle. Very poor value for money.

It was clean and comfortable and not too far from the train station. It was perfect for our use which was a temporary stop in our travels. The narrow stairs up which we had to drag our cases - but a minor complaint!

“Hotel is well placed to see castle and to travel to other places of interest, the hotel is run by friendly , helpful family. and rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff will make your meals at any time and the food is very good, and the price is average for the location. The log fires are burning and give a romantic feel to the hotel Our friends who travelled with us enjoyed this hotel also and said they will take back lots of good memories of this hotel and the area to their family/friends in Holland As we were the first guests to arrive on the Sat.we were shown four different rooms and given our choice as to which one we preferred. If you base yourself at this hotel it is easy to travel to Kyle of Lochalsh, Plockton and Skye. etc..” Anne, Wishaw |
