Area information

Laburnum House is situated in the village of Huntspill, situated between the towns of Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea. A prominent feature of the area is the Huntspill Nature Reserve. Spanning the length of the Huntspill River, which flows near the the hotel, the reserve is a notable haven for various (sometimes rare) species of birds, fish and insects.

Other attractions include:

Middlemoor Water Park (5 km / 3 miles) - this 20 acre artificial lake offers water ski, wakeboard, jet ski and karting facilities.

Cheddar Caves and Gorge (21 km / 13 miles) - an area of rugged natural beauty, including Britain's largest gorge, which climbs as high as 122 metres above the road. The famous caves were inhabited by human ancestors up to 40,000 years ago.

Wells (29 km / 18 miles) - said to be England's smallest city, this historic location is home to a number of architectural attractions. Its renowned cathedral has features which date back to the 10th century.

Travel information

By car:
From the M5:
- Exit the motorway at junction 22.
- Take the A38 towards Bridgwater.
- Drive through Highbridge to the 'Crossways' public house and turn right into Church Road.
- Continue on for approximately 80 yards (75 metres) and turn left into Sloway Lane.
- Laburnum House is at the end of Sloway Lane.

From the A303:
- Exit the A303 at the Ilminster roundabout and take the A358 to Taunton.
- At the Blackbrook roundabout joint the M5 motorway heading North towards Bristol.
- Continue on to junction 23 and take the A38 towards Highbridge.
- At the 'Crossways' public house turn left into Church Road.
- Follow the remaining route outlined above.
