Lainston House Hotel And The Avenue Restaurant  

That as we had a small child and a dog our room was perfectly situated on ground level next to a garden area which we had direct access to and were were next to only a few other rooms. The reception staff were incredibly polite, friendly and helpful. The setting is remarkably beautiful.

The waiting staff were just on the wrong side of formal and made one feel somewhat uncomfortable- especially with a small child. If they relaxed a bit the whole atmosphere would be much more welcoming and friendly (much like the reception) and be a much nicer place to be and want to return to.

Could not book restaurant on arrival. Breakfast well to expensive.

1.some of the staff were less attentive than expected although others were very good 2.the soundproofing at the room doors could be improved as we could hear the " comings & goingings" of people in the surrounding rooms throughout the night

The room was excellent, room service prompt and staff all well mannered and helpful. Wifi signal was free and always available.

The cost of the room was expensive as were the services provided for food and drinks. The room should have been provided with a minibar.

Outstanding, was treated like royalty! Beautiful location Didnt stay for dinner, but breakfast was outstanding. I stay in many hotels and Lainston House is the best ever!

The staff, the surroundings, the food, the owls, the kitchen garden, the relaxed feel, the bathroom, the fabulously comfortable bed.......etc, etc!

The coffee provided in our room was horrible. The signage outside, whilst clear, was jarringly modern and obtrusive.

excellent attention to detail

Attention to detail and facilities in bedrooms and overall quality of restaurant and bar . Excellent cuisine and service - discreet but attentive. No canned muzak in public areas.

There is little to complain about but such pampering and luxury comes at a price, so expect restaurant and bar prices to reflect this. One minor niggle - it would have been good to have a choice of complimentary newspaper. The Independent would be few guests' first choice I suspect.

My Wife has always wanted to experience Lainston House and we weren't disappointed by anything. Right from walking up to the wonderful entrance through to the view of the house as we left, the whole experience can only be described as wonderful. Great staff, fantastic location, wonderful food. Everything that we thought it would be and more. A great start to the holiday season. Thank you.

Wonderful country house hotel with luxurious bedrooms and bathrooms. A real treat.

The service in the restaurant was a little slow.

Atmosphere and friendster service

Too Waern in the room

The food was impeccable, however some staff were rather confused as to which course should be served at which time (breakfast).

I personally think the place should focus on its heritage and maintain decor and bathroom toiletries to match/suit this. A display cabinet full of cuddly toys seemed a little out of keeping with the tone of the establishment. The outdoor swing chair cushion had not been replaced after a downpour rendering the swing unusable. Black fingerprints were left on the window frames after staff had serviced the bedroom and opened windows. Spoons in the bedroom had not been washed and had coffee stains and body hair belonging to a previous customer was left in a drawer.

The staff went above and beyond. The rooms were stunning.

The breakfast was a tad expensive for such a modest amount. However the room service was on time and the food was still warm.

Oppulent surroundings, very tranquil, and excellent attention and service. The food is quite simply described as delicious and good value .

evertthing about Lainston House was to our liking. Our room was extremely spacious, the bathroom luxurious, the grounds magnificent. the staff very friendly. And the bonus was that the weather was glorious .

I thought the location was fabulous. The Owl trainer was very informative and a lovely person. We attended a wedding last weekend and the staff I.E. waiters etc were very attentive, I would also say that the Master of Ceremonies was fantastic and made the day run very smoothly. It was a perfect day from start to finish and would recommend it to anyone.

The only thing I would say is that I feel the price of the hotel room should have included breakfast and not been an extra when booking. This is not a complaint but I do feel when booking into the hotel the receptionist should not just assume you will be using your credit card to purchase drinks from the bar therefore adding about £90 on top of your stay I felt was unacceptable. I did receive a phone call from the hotel the day after we booked out asking if I had left an item of clothing which I did not and they said it must have belonged to the previous guest this was not the only thing that was left in our room by other guests.
