I thought the location was fabulous. The Owl trainer was very informative and a lovely person. We attended a wedding last weekend and the staff I.E. waiters etc were very attentive, I would also say that the Master of Ceremonies was fantastic and made the day run very smoothly. It was a perfect day from start to finish and would recommend it to anyone. The only thing I would say is that I feel the price of the hotel room should have included breakfast and not been an extra when booking. This is not a complaint but I do feel when booking into the hotel the receptionist should not just assume you will be using your credit card to purchase drinks from the bar therefore adding about £90 on top of your stay I felt was unacceptable. I did receive a phone call from the hotel the day after we booked out asking if I had left an item of clothing which I did not and they said it must have belonged to the previous guest this was not the only thing that was left in our room by other guests.

Our stay at the hotel was for a wedding. We were pleasantly surprised at the luxurious rooms and really enjoyed walking the dogs in the hotel grounds. We really enjoyed our stay and the staff made us feel very welcome. Many thanks Sharon Crane No complaints, a perfect short stay.

My wife and I were celebrating our first wedding anniversary at Lainston House, having had a magical wedding celebration there. They remembered us and upgraded us to a suite. The room was amazing: large with a great four-poster bed, espresso machine, Jacuzzi and lovely wood panelling and shutters. The quality of food and wine at The Avenue was top notch. The staff there were very attentive. I also made use of their gym and we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. All in all, it was a wonderful visit.

We only had breakfast at the hotel which was good though the buffet did not have much on offer and we felt it could have been replenished. The upgraded room was good. Having booked a standard double room through you on 26/1/11 we were more than disappointed with the room we were given-it was clearly a single room with only 1 set of towels and 1 glass, small bed and even no tv remote. The bath was in the bedroom with the loo in what seemed to be a cupboard. We complained (long story) and were eventually upgraded but by then we had little time to enjoy those facilities as we were off to a party. The hotel did deal with our complaints but I feel you should be aware of the situation for other clients who may book through you.

The building itself is most impressive with beautiful grounds and a wonderful atmosphere. I found the employees to be consisitently pleasant and anxious to please. ( the restaruant manager a little at odds with most of his staff and possibly requiring to skill up on organisation) I only really have one criticism and that would be a degree of over trading as the staff seem at times to be costantly getting ready for the next event rather manging the current situation - wedding onn Saturday, jazz lunch on Sunday.Overall a very impressive hotel -if it suffers from anything it would be certain operationl weaknesses around management A times a degree of chaos and disorganisation - too small a reception and the hideous plastic garden furniture.

The location is excellent, the hotel itself charming. Having been there several years ago, I was looking forward to surprising my partner with what I hoped would be a special weekend. Although they had obviously been trained, the staff didn't really understand the English country house hotel ethic - they were mostly young and not English. The room had not been properly cleaned or even dusted for some time. We had to request water glasses on several occasions - they were not even provided with water ordered from room service. The food was good but lacking a certain flair. We were given a different wine to the one we ordered (twice as expensive) which (fortunately!) turned out to be corked. Upon hearing our complaints, we were given one night of accommodation free of charge (the least expensive night!). Their compensation was fine, but we felt there were too many things that went wrong in the first place.

We stayed at the hotel because we were attending a wedding there. On checking in, we learned we had been upgraded to a suite, which we were thrilled with. The facilities for the wedding were superb in the Dawney Barn, the food was excellent and the staff were very efficient and friendly. A wonderful experience all round in luxurious surroundings.
