Great location. Little village, just off the main Edinburgh bypass with shops, pubs etc nearby. Good hotel bar/pub has live music in bar. (Really good open mike night on the night I was there. Good atmosphere and good music for 50 somethings). Proper old hotel/pub building with wood panelling and period feel. Good value. I had a single room and it was fine. I guess if you don't like noise, then you may be disturbed by the pub noise, either from the bar or car park as people leave at night. I usually hate noise but had no problem getting off to sleep here. There was scaffolding up around the building as they were painting the outside. Again, not an issue to me, but there may be some disturbance if you are in your room during the day. They looked nearly finished anyway.

The staff were very accomodating and friendly. The food was excellent and service very good. The building was undergoing a refurb. We were not informed of this before hand. Woken very early by workmen on the scaffolding outside the bedroom window. Could not open curtains due to workmen on the scaffolding right outside bedroom window.

Ease of parking. Friendly staff. It was a Saturday night and the staff were rushed off their feet! The building was covered in scaffolding which we weren't advised of beforehand. Our room was above the kitchen with noisy fans outside our window (we were advised of this as we entered) and they went off about 10pm when the staff left the building all talking loudly and hooting their car horns. We won't be staying here again.

Meals were value for money. Dining area were reasonable buy cold to sit for any length of time. My colleague and I, s supposed twin room was little more than a box room, we were practically sitting on top of one another, the television was so high up on the wall we could not see it, there was only one chair and a small table, that held the very small kettle, and they only supplied decaffeinated coffee.at one point I had to go down stairs and ask for the heating to be turned on as it was very cold. The washing facilities were not adequate for two people sharing, the windows were very drafty.

Food was good and staff were helpful and friendly Unfortunately when we arrived we found that there had been a mistake on the booking. A room was available but was not ideal for the 3 day stay that we had booked.

The hotel is near Edinburgh and shopping outlets, yet it is surrounded by the countryside. It was on a very busy road, may not be suitable for young children

The staff were all friendly, really good atmosphere in pub/restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic - to die for. Convenient location. Friendly locals. On site parking. Very small bathroom, toilet seat was loose, barely enough space to sit on the loo, loo roll holder was broke & shower curtain not very clean also poor water pressure in shower.

Location close to Ring Road and very easy to find. Very helpful staff. Warm comfortable room with plenty of space. Free Wi Fi. Friendly well stocked bar and real open fire. Nice village location with plenty of on site parking. Good food available all day. Excellent value for money. Broken fitting in shower cubicle. Out of date cream on compliments tray in room. Otherwise no problems at all. Ignore negative comments by other travellers as this is a great place to stay.

first class place to spend a few days. bus service right outside pub, and run every 10 mins. room 9 was a bit on the small side, we have stayed quite a few times and prefer the rooms facing to the front of the pub.
