I like the location and the bed room, the shower facility was okay, the toilet was clean.
The bed room was too cold when I arrived, and the bar was too noisy for my liking.
Warm welcome and when I was told the restaurant was closed they offered to make soup and sandwiches Good range of cask ales Excellent breakfast will certainly stop here again when in the area
Was ideal for what we were looking for. Close to Edinburgh, close to where our function was.
Early breakfast available from 06.30
Air conditioning outside room 9, coming on at 06.00. Sounded like a couple of motorbikes starting up.
Quiet and quaint. Food was excellent.
Very convenient for a shopping trip to ikea - less than 10 mins from the store.
Relaxed atmosphere. Food quality and choice. Well stocked bar! Entertainment. (Halloween party). The staff couldn't do enough for you and the locals were very helpful as well with navigation.
Unfortunately there was a noisy extractor fan under one of the rooms so not such a good night sleep for one couple. Maintenance was being carried out which is great to have the rooms upgraded but you don't expect to not have access or leave your room to have towel rails and toilet roll holders fitted at 5pm in the evening. However this I guess this is a one off and the rooms now look tip top! Very apologetic workman but a little bit inconvenient.
The pub/hotel is in a great location for Edinburgh. The staff are very friendly. The food is delicious. We had an evening meal there with my son and daughter-in-law, who live in Edinburgh. All of us had different food and we enjoyed it very much. Breakfast was excellent too. The inn has wonderful character and atmosphere. Will be staying again when we visit my son.
There wasn't anything to dislike. (Maybe could have porridge on the breakfast menu.)
Ramshackled bedroom, mediocre breakfast, disinterested staff
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful during my stay. Food good quality and portions. Breakfast excellent. Very comfortable beds and pillows. All the facilities you would need in a room to make your stay comfortable.
Decor a bit dated and worn out carpets, renovations are in progress
Room basic but fine Nice pub
Good location excellent food good value for money. Manager who responds quickly to problems encountered.
Unfortunately they made mistake with booking and when we arrived no rooms for us. As we were there to empty mothers home as she had died, had travelled from Aberdeen and so of the group had been up since 4am we were upset.Staff on duty attitude was not good. We did get a free meal and eventually found us somewhere to stay which was basic. I would not have recommended them, however since I complained the Manager has been in touch himself and has accepted there were a number of issues that need addressed including training for staff. As this is a great place to eat and is good location I will stay again and see if there are improvements to customer service
The staff, the service, the restaurant, & the exceptional breakfast.
Bedroom compact, but good for the price.
Good value for money accommodation and full Scottish breakfast. Accessible location. Good option when Edinburgh accommodation is booked up. Friendly and helpful management and staff. Breakfast and meals area very nice in airy conservatory.
Room a bit 'dated. Chain which owns this property should invest in re-decorating when season is quiet. This may apply to other rooms. Staff are doing their best but an updating programme for the rooms would help overall.
Everything about the room and its surroundings.
The staff were very helpful and polite from the start. The room was basic but comfortable although the shower cubicle could do with the sealant being replaced. The food in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. After dinner we had a few drinks in the bar which was very pleasant. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at The Laird and Dog Inn. Breakfast was one of the best i have ever had, well worth the price we payed to stay.
Only critisism i have would be that the shower cubicle in the room we stayed in could do with the sealant being replaced as this looked very dirty.
Nice restaurant. bus stop outside door.
What a fabulous bed. Super comfy. Excellent food. Friendly and helpful staff.
The ensuite was very dated. Anyone over 5'8" would have have to remove the shower head to fit in. And use it in hand. Clean and functional other than that.
Friendly staff Breakfast and lovely room that is served in. Proximity to bus stop which is right at the pub. We had a small room at back of pub that looked out over the car park. It was nice and quiet there.
We were happy with everything for the money we paid.
Great service, friendly staff very clean and good facilities.
breakfast good. good lively bar in evening
just too far from our destination but ok in an emergency
staff very attentive Good priced beer Frequent buses
Food and comfort and service excellent very easy to find.
Room was on the main road and the traffic noise was continuous all night. We had to have the window open as it was so warm and humid.
