There were really only 3 negatives for us as a party. The owner informed us on arrival that there were some issues with the electricity supply in terms of wattage; this manifested itself by blowing a main fuse if too many high voltage appliances were used at the same time. Whilst we did not have a power failure/blow it did make us rather nervous when using all the kitchen appliances and hairdryers as the lights would dim.
(This is a site issue & not one the owner has any control over)
Secondly, we had booked the lodge as it was near to Chichester & had hoped to walk in to the town based on the distance on a map, sadly this was not realistic due to the roads & lack of pavements, and taxi fares were £7+ one way.
Thirdly, the owner has a small white dog that is adorable, unfortunately 2 of us had chosen black cocktail dresses on the one evening and never gave a thought to the fact that dog's may have been on the sofa , quick change of outfit was required due to dog hairs and the lack of a clothes brush. However the owner has stated that her Dog does not molt and these Dog hairs were from a previous guest's Dog. I believe she no longer accepts pets due to these types of issue.
We were a party of 5 staying for 2 nights in November. All communication with the owner was excellent prior to our arrival. Plenty of parking next to the property & we were met on arrival with no issues. All facilities were explained in detail & I could not think of anything that was not provided for guests comfort. Both of the ‘True’ bedrooms were well equipped, as were both bathrooms. Bedding was of good quality, clean & very tasteful. Wi-Fi connection was provided and for the most part was consistently available, particularly in the bedrooms. The third bedroom off the lounge was perfectly adequate for our needs, though would cause problems should the occupants wish to retire to bed whilst others used the lounge, the owner does make this perfectly clear in her description.
The lodge is beautifully situated on the water, with bird life that is fascinating to watch. Although we experienced a considerable amount of rain during our stay we were still able to venture out under the covered section of decking and admire the Swans who appeared each morning.
I think the lodge would be a lovely retreat, especially in the summer months when the wide expanse of decking could be truly appreciated. All 5 of our party were adults and the accommodation coped with this occupancy easily.
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday by the water I think the lodge is faultless, we have recommended it to friends & would certainly return in the summer when we could relax on the deck.If you are looking for a relaxing holiday by the water I think the lodge is faultless, we have recommended it to friends & would certainly return in the summer when we could relax on the deck.
