having to leave
We were a party of 5 staying for 2 nights in November. All communication with the owner was excellent prior to our arrival. Plenty of parking next to the property & we were met on arrival with no issues. All facilities were explained in detail & I could not think of anything that was not provided for guests comfort. Both of the ‘True’ bedrooms were well equipped, as were both bathrooms. Bedding was of good quality, clean & very tasteful. Wi-Fi connection was provided and for the most part was consistently available, particularly in the bedrooms. The third bedroom off the lounge was perfectly adequate for our needs, though would cause problems should the occupants wish to retire to bed whilst others used the lounge, the owner does make this perfectly clear in her description. The lodge is beautifully situated on the water, with bird life that is fascinating to watch. Although we experienced a considerable amount of rain during our stay we were still able to venture out under the covered section of decking and admire the Swans who appeared each morning. I think the lodge would be a lovely retreat, especially in the summer months when the wide expanse of decking could be truly appreciated. All 5 of our party were adults and the accommodation coped with this occupancy easily. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday by the water I think the lodge is faultless, we have recommended it to friends & would certainly return in the summer when we could relax on the deck.If you are looking for a relaxing holiday by the water I think the lodge is faultless, we have recommended it to friends & would certainly return in the summer when we could relax on the deck.
There were really only 3 negatives for us as a party. The owner informed us on arrival that there were some issues with the electricity supply in terms of wattage; this manifested itself by blowing a main fuse if too many high voltage appliances were used at the same time. Whilst we did not have a power failure/blow it did make us rather nervous when using all the kitchen appliances and hairdryers as the lights would dim. (This is a site issue & not one the owner has any control over) Secondly, we had booked the lodge as it was near to Chichester & had hoped to walk in to the town based on the distance on a map, sadly this was not realistic due to the roads & lack of pavements, and taxi fares were £7+ one way. Thirdly, the owner has a small white dog that is adorable, unfortunately 2 of us had chosen black cocktail dresses on the one evening and never gave a thought to the fact that dog's may have been on the sofa , quick change of outfit was required due to dog hairs and the lack of a clothes brush. However the owner has stated that her Dog does not molt and these Dog hairs were from a previous guest's Dog. I believe she no longer accepts pets due to these types of issue.
Hospitality of host. Location, décor fittings, warm & comfortable, peaceful & close to nature.
For the price that we were given (me and 5 friends) we were surprised at how nice the lodge was! In a beautiful setting on the lake, it was lovely!
Relaxing 'back to nature' type of place. The owner was very helpful when we arrived.
Quiet scenic location on periphery of Chichester but only a 10 min drive to centre. Very warm and comfortable.
The view and position of the lodge
Electricity went off and we were only using 2 appliances !!
We spent two days at the lodge and wish we could have stayed for longer. What a lovely peaceful location, a place to forget all your worries and just listen to the wild life and enjoy the beautiful view from the deck. Heather was very helpful right from the time of booking and did her utmost to ensure we had a good stay.
Really nice views from decking overlooking the lake.Great for nature lovers.Nice and peaceful.
No real complaints.
Great stay in Chichester. Everything had been thought of. Just wish we could have stayed longer!
the view from the lodge was excellent the whole experience was great to be so close to the wild life of the lake just blew myself and my wife Christine away Christine liked the attention detail was so individual to each of the rooms in the lodge we did not feel overcrowded at any time during our stay even though there was only myself Christine and our mum staying in the lodge if we had brought our grandchildren there would have been plenty of room on the balcony for them to play and plenty of room for all of us to eat outside and the equipment was also provided . unfortunately the weather was cloudy and we did have rain during our stay but because the lodge was so cosy the weather didn't stop us from having a enjoyable time we also had a lovely day out at Chichester even the bathrooms were spacious and I particularly liked the attention with the bath mats the dishwasher was a real big factor for me Christine l would happily take my grandchildren and have a holiday again in the lodge and knowing the dishwasher is big enough for a family also be able to use the facilities of lakeside was a big plus for me . I would like to give a big thank you to the owner of the lodge for contacting me to tell me I had left my purse behind and she very kindly said she would keep it safe for me until myself and Steve will be visiting lake side during the summer with our motorhome and we are very much looking forward to seeing Heather again I hope in the future we can have a family holiday in the lodge and visit again thanks again for this unforgettable stay at Lake Birds Lodge thanking you again Christine Bosworth
there is nothing I did not like about our stay at lake birds lodge
We liked the fact that we had our own space and the outside area was beautiful eight on the lake
The lake was lovely and we really enjoyed watching the birds.
The internet connection was poor.
Location by the lake. Quality of accomadation
Showers need descaling!
Lovely location and Heather is great!!!
Lovely location in the lake. Accomodation was very comfortable with lots of room.
Unfortunately not enough hot water (sometimes no water pressure) for showers.
position on lake, and closeness to Chichester, nice bed,
animals in guest section and around eating area
Not the usual place; not the usual hostess. First impressions untrusting and officious, then she becomes an interesting, if a bit eccentric character!. And she goes out of her day to make you satisfied. Excellent breakfast nicely presented. If you have a lot of luggage she has crammed a lot into a little space
Heather - a bit officious to start with - she doesn't trust people - no doubt due to s African background, You warm to her. Cramped - remember it is a holiday park log cabin. Difficult to find with no signage
Great place, Heather the owner loverly lady with high standards and full of local information, breakfast was excellent, bed was good, and who experience is one to be tried, well done Heather
