Comfortable bed, excellent freshly cooked breakfast. If you are travelling by train very close to station and Windermere facilities and restaurants.
Limited parking but ok if you were early. Room very small, but did not spoil stay. Price quite expensive for a B&B,although you know price when you book you do not know facilities on offer,or quality.
The breakfast was good The room was clean.
I felt that the owner/manager was rude to other guests. There was a very long wait for breakfast We arrived at 8.10.a.m. and it was 8.45 before we were served. The B&B was very tired and outdated and our bedroom was far too small. We couldn't get out of bed at the side we had to clamber over the end rail. If we had been in our 30/40s it might have been fun but as pensioners it was not. The B&B should be a fantastic place as it was very well situated but the attitude of the owner let it down. I felt that he thought he was doing all of us a favour.
The owners were friendly and very helpful - most welcoming.
The location is good, bedding was clean and fresh.
The man who greated us on our arrival was not very friendly and we were made to feel quite unwelcome as he proceeded to tell us how busy he was! At breakfast time the next morning the same man was very stressed about the amount of people in the dining room that he had to serve! He was extremely rude to some foreign guests on the next table to us and my husband felt so embarrassed and offended that he left before our breakfast order was taken! We will not be staying there again!
Not very helpful host Pressure about the tours run by hotel Lack of help re local facilities eg laundromat.
The gentleman who owns/ manages the premisis was rude, referring to us and a Russian family as 'that lot' while he spoke to a couple from Austrailia. He barked questions at us which made everyone in the room look at us. We were polite throughout but it didn't signal to him that maybe he ought to treat us in a similar manner.
I have to admit that it was clean.
This was the worst B&B I've ever seen! The manager was awful and he acted and specifically told me he was making me a favor letting me stay to his hotel. Honestly, I would walk out of there and go and find anywhere else to stay if I haven't pre-paid. The building is hazardously old and smells of mold even after applying a ton of air-freshener. Room 1 was tiny and the toilet disgusting! I would anyone to stay anywhere else if they have an option!
We liked the central position in Windermere - close to the Station and the Lakeland Store! The Receptionist on arrival was very friendly and helpful. Full English breakfast was delicious!
Key supplied for the front door but difficult to operate. Spoke with Manager who complained that lots found it a problem & insisted on recounting instances and demonstrating how easy it was to open.Tried to explain that he clearly had the knack of opening it & to point out that it would be simpler to address the lock but he continued to insist it was down to the the Guests and they should not be waking him to get in but open it correctly! Three beds in a small room was very cramped but OK for just a brief overnight stay.
They run an excellent tour service. The provision of parking in a very crowded Windermere.
The manager uses breakfast rules as an opportunity to demean ethnically different guests- in the two days we were there it was Chinese , Germans and Muslims.
Location easy walk to station and shops. Good selection for breakfast.
Owners attitude to fellow guests in the breakfast room. We made suggestions to have the menu in picture form for those having difficulity with English. WiFi very patchy.
Nice crisp clean sheets. Good breakfast Helpfull owner and staff.
Entrance to forecourt is severely humped and I scuffed the front bumper on the car. The car park is very small and guests may have to park on the street where there are restrictions. Very small room for a double bed. Shower very tricky, took ages to balance to a reasonable temperature. Flow on cold tap very erratic.
Very useful location for train station and town. Good price.
Bit of a boarding house feel. Breakfast OK but not the best.
I think all tourists from the tour enjoyed a lot. Thank you.
Fantastic location, friendly staff, great breakfast and awesome day tour. spotless!
The room was a bit small.
Location in a great village & surrounding areas
*Breakfast *Comfortable bed!
Stayed 18th July 2014 and have many positive remarks to make, sadly just one negative one! My room (number 9) was very small, but cozy and had everything I could possibly need including a fridge. Lakes Lodge is immaculately clean, in an excellent area and is extremely well run by the chatty Manager. Taking into account the wonderful hearty breakfast, freshly cooked and to me (an early riser) the added bonus of being available from 7.45 a.m.(wonderful....). I thought it all extremely good value for money. Now, however, I feel I must address the one negativity which rather distressed me: I arrived around noon and knowing that check-in time was not until 3.00 p.m.out of courtesy to the Manager I reported that I had left my car on the car park. Now here comes the tale of woe! After driving for one and half hours I was absolutely bursting to make a visit to the 'loo' so asked him could I possibly use a toilet. His reply was a most definite 'NO' as my check-in time was not until 3.00 p.m. and my allocated room was not ready! But folks, I didn't want to use my room, I just wanted desperately to see a toilet - any toilet anywhere in the establishment would have sufficed! He tenaciously adhered to his rule, if you are not checked in you cannot use any of their toilets. I can understand him denying a request from a member of the public passing by, but I was a mere three hours from checking in. So, sorry Lakes Lodge, you really did not demonstrate any kindness at that point to a 71 years old pensioner! I was kind to him however, as when he eventually took me to my room I was surprised to find it quite spacious with a double bed in. Being an honest person I said "I have not paid for this room, all I booked/paid for was a small single one". I was then taken to room 9. Kind regards anyway Lakes Lodge, enjoyed my overnight stay with you.
