A traditional lakes hotel but with a fresh modern look. Gone is the chintz curtains and flowery carpets in the dining room, replaced with crisp colours and chrome furniture. the bedrooms are superb with large comfy beds. Excellent buffet breakfast.

One of the nicest places we have stayed. Friendly staff, spacious comfortable room, big bath towels, soft beds and a great breakfast. Five minutes walk from town. Couldn't ask for more. Couldn't fault it.

The staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough to help us with what ever we needed. The rooms was bright and airy and modern and the beds were excellent - really great nights sleep. Breakfast was plentiful. We didn't use some facilities like 'borrowing a video' or having a meal delivered with a dvd and bottle of wine- all very nice extra features. It was also a great location, close to the centre and close to the lake. Only comment would be that there was no where to put our wash bags. The sink was outside the bathroom, in the room and needed something to put toiletries on.

Rooms are nicely designed, well equipped and spacious. We brought our own cot & high chair for our 12-month-old, so I'm not sure how accommodating they could have been for a young child. I was surprised to discover that they are a full mile from the water. The pictures and www.booking.com map makes it appear that they are much closer. We stayed one night, then moved to a hotel that was on the water.....we liked this hotel and it was decent for the money, but we really wanted a waterfront view.

Ideally located right next the centre of Ambleside, The rooms were large and comfortable and the staff were very welcoming. Only one slight criticism - our room was right next to the dining area and it lacked privacy as a result.

This was a very good hotel, it had what we wanted for our time there. We wanted a relaxed although walk-about break which is what we had. The room was ideal although on the top floor but not a problem the breakfast first class with all you could want for a days walking. Car parking was tight but not a problem, all in all a very good hotel offering a very god break.

We loved it and would recommend to our friends, family and others. We found it easy to find and ideal access to Ambleside town centre and surrounding towns. First impressions on arrival were excellent we were greeted by the very friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make our stay welcoming and comfortable. Our double room was clean, modern well presented and situated at the side of the house, very quiet and the only noises we heard were the birds in the morning. The self service breakfast is a must, donot go here if you are dieting, the local bacon and sausages are to die for and so much choice, you have to walk for miles to burn of those extra calories. We also had beautiful views of the mountains and hills couldn't fault anything will definately be back. Nothing to complain about..perfect location and accomodation

An excellent location, very central, and a garden which is not overlooked. And the great selection of home-made jams are very, very good. We shall return!!!” Derek, Chester-le-street |
