Fantastic location. The views from my bedroom and the restaurant were superb. The tavern next door was a poor substitute for dining in the evening.

The hotel was relaxed, friendly, comfortable and had magnificent views over the lake. We were also upgraded to a premier room so we had our own balcony which made it all the more special. A wonderful escape to nature from the city! Because of its location, the weather could let you down. It was raining when we arrived and when we left, but we were lucky that it brightened up during the time we were there so we managed to get out on the tennis court for an hour then sit on our balcony with a drink overlooking the lake

The view and the restaurant area magnificent. Although noisy the Bistro was popular and the food excellent. Only one onthe far end of the building.

The view over the lake from our bedroom was magical even though the weather was partly dull and wet, however we still enjoyed ourselves. There were lovely walks around the Dam and an interesting sculpture park. If you want a peaceful holiday, this is the place to be. I think it is probably time for a splash of paint in most areas to revitalise the hotel.

Location overlooking the lake was excellent. Gardens well maintained. Good food. Decor pleasant. Staff friendly and helpfull. The armchairs in the room were extremely uncomfortable. Not able to sit and relax after tiring day sightseeing. Lighting in bathroom poor - unable to see to use make-up and hair styling. The decor in the Tavern Bar restaurant was disappointing. Large room plainly decorated not in keeping with the period of the building. It felt unwelcoming. However, the food was good.

The location was perfect. The chamber maids were very helpful. The Tower Tavern, a good atmosphere and good food. Ross and Amanda, the staff, manning this busy bar were helpful and attentive The service in the restaurant was very poor in sharp contrast to the Tavern[ also on site] Rooms were slightly shabby.

The very good view. The hotel is in a bad state of disrepair. It is a shame to pay so much and get a hotel that should have had critical maintenance years ago. Staff that are unprofessional and can hardly speak English is another huge distraction.

The beautiful scenery and peaceful location. Perfect for a romantic break As we are not big eaters we only need two courses. Dinner menu was five courses. We were accommodated fine but no definite cost was given, so at the end of the meal we were a little shocked at the price for two courses given the amount of food on the plate. I think prices should be stated on the menu to avoid this problem

The view was the only thing we really enjoyed. The Tavern only had the same menu for lunch and evening meal which was limiting. The room was ok but not worth the £210 per night stay. Overall the hotel is a little tired and we did not experience the luxury the website promoted.

Amazing views across lake from bedroom. Very relaxed atmosphere. Very little use of welsh language. We could have been anywhere, not in the heart of mid wales!!! Some staff spoke welsh which is important. No signs in welsh.

The food wasn't good but not great. My personal opinion is that they should offer more simple and traditional dishes at such a place.

We thought the setting was fantastic, but a bit disappointed the grounds were not more extensive. However the resteraunt was excellent and staff attentive. Our room - 42 was also very good apart from the dripping bath mixer and no drinks fridge. We were a bit surprised and miffed there were no movie options on the hotel tv. As a Spa having no swimming pool is a bit of a gap and no rowing machine in the gym - well ? The spa treatments were very good - highly recommend. But generally very good! 9/10 See minor gripes above - also insufficient heating - solved by supplimentary heater !

Absolutely stunning location, far from the madding crowd with wonderful views. The food we had for our dinner and breakfast in the main restaurant were very good and the staff were helpful. The wine list was especially notable. The decor and furniture were comfortable but not overstated. Everything seemed to run seamlessly. We'd like to have stayed much longer. Our meal at the tower tavern for lunch was extremely average pub food in rather sterile surroundings, but the views remained excellent there as wwell, which went some way to compensating. The coffee there wasn't great, and the table hadn't been wiped despite there being only one other couple in there, although the staff we friendly and happy to do it for us once it was pointed out.

I loved the location and the old worldly charm. There were lovely walks by the lake and charming rooms to relax in when you returned. The staff were friendly. The best part of the stay was the meal in the restaurant which was excellent. I'm afraid the drive to and from the hotel was difficult even with a sat nav and road atlas. This wasn't helped by the fact that there was a road closure and that may have added to our difficulty. We were certainly left frustrated as the road signs didn't help either. We stayed in room 26 which was quite noisy due to the kitchen ventilation although this was turned off when we notified reception.

The friendliness, efficiency and attention of all staff was excellent and made our stay memorable. In addition, the food, spa facilities and the hotel's location all went to make this stay so enjoyable. Nothing! There was nothing during our stay that we could find fault with.
