“I loved the location and the old worldly charm. There were lovely walks by the lake and charming rooms to relax in when you returned. The staff were friendly. The best part of the stay was the meal in the restaurant which was excellent.”

The view was the only thing we really enjoyed. The Tavern only had the same menu for lunch and evening meal which was limiting. The room was ok but not worth the £210 per night stay. Overall the hotel is a little tired and we did not experience the luxury the website promoted.

The Lake and surroundings, the age of the building and the history of it. Rooms tired and old, although in keeping were quite scruffy and uncomfortable. Price must be based on location and views as rooms not worth the price.

Excellent food & delightful staff rooms are expensive & a little basic for what they are but location is fabulous No mini bar, very poor & small tv. Room was adequate but nothing special for the rate & we had the large flat spa roof outside our balcony which rather spoiled the view.

As above, also very quiet and relaxing, room was a little small, next time would specify a larger room if staying longer. Drinks very expensive, probably a good thing as it limited our consumption !

Fantastic location, good food, friendly staff. There was some refurbishment work going on and I thought some of the areas were a bit tired. My main issue was the heating!!!. I found the hotel far too warm, our room was above the spa and it was uncomfortably warm, we slept with the balcony roof open.

The scenery that surrounds the hotel is stunning. The hotel itself is lovely. The staff are very friendly and there are plenty of staff around so you never have to wait to be attended to. Our room overlooking the lake was wonderful. Our evening meal at the Tower Tavern was excellent.

The Spa was excellent value for money and we quite enjoyed it. Our room was a lake view and it was also excellent. At breakfast, we waited 22 minutes for our cup of coffee, had to ask twice. Breakfast arrived 1 minute later!. Breakfast was expensive and I expected better service for the price.

The food wasn't good but not great. My personal opinion is that they should offer more simple and traditional dishes at such a place.

We thought the setting was fantastic, but a bit disappointed the grounds were not more extensive. However the resteraunt was excellent and staff attentive. Our room - 42 was also very good apart from the dripping bath mixer and no drinks fridge. We were a bit surprised and miffed there were no movie options on the hotel tv. As a Spa having no swimming pool is a bit of a gap and no rowing machine in the gym - well ? The spa treatments were very good - highly recommend. But generally very good! 9/10 See minor gripes above - also insufficient heating - solved by supplimentary heater !

Absolutely stunning location, far from the madding crowd with wonderful views. The food we had for our dinner and breakfast in the main restaurant were very good and the staff were helpful. The wine list was especially notable. The decor and furniture were comfortable but not overstated. Everything seemed to run seamlessly. We'd like to have stayed much longer. Our meal at the tower tavern for lunch was extremely average pub food in rather sterile surroundings, but the views remained excellent there as wwell, which went some way to compensating. The coffee there wasn't great, and the table hadn't been wiped despite there being only one other couple in there, although the staff we friendly and happy to do it for us once it was pointed out.

I loved the location and the old worldly charm. There were lovely walks by the lake and charming rooms to relax in when you returned. The staff were friendly. The best part of the stay was the meal in the restaurant which was excellent. I'm afraid the drive to and from the hotel was difficult even with a sat nav and road atlas. This wasn't helped by the fact that there was a road closure and that may have added to our difficulty. We were certainly left frustrated as the road signs didn't help either. We stayed in room 26 which was quite noisy due to the kitchen ventilation although this was turned off when we notified reception.

The friendliness, efficiency and attention of all staff was excellent and made our stay memorable. In addition, the food, spa facilities and the hotel's location all went to make this stay so enjoyable. Nothing! There was nothing during our stay that we could find fault with.

wonderful location. large room with super view. friendly staff. I left a pillow which was despatched to Kent very promptly. We ate in the Tavern on the 2nd night and had very good service. Our cocker spaniel had a very nice time and was made welcome! We all felt the hotel was very overheated but the weather was unusually warm. I have no complaints about the food or service in the main restaurant but I did feel the rather large waitress was not a good advertisement for good food.

From the moment we arrived the staff were very helpful and the setting off the hotel was spectacular. Stepping In side was just as good and throughout the whole weekend could not really find a problem. We went as two couples and not one off us had a bad word to say. We all hope to go again soon as the weekend was excellent!!! Even the fog on Sunday did not spoil the day. Many thanks to all the staff for the weekend and looking after us all.
