One of England's oldest inns, with a history dating back over 700 years, The Shaven Crown is located in Shipton-under-Wychwood, 7 miles from Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds.
Score from 2 reviews Fabulous
A beautiful inn in the heart of the Cotswolds, The Lamb Inn offers a country-style restaurant and bar alongside its luxurious room and suites.
Score from 236 reviews Very good
Serving local produce, offering a friendly welcome, efficient service and a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere, this former 18th century inn is ideal for those seeking to explore the Cotswold region.
Score from 370 reviews Fabulous
With a riverside location and set in a Cotswold stone building, this 5 gold star inn serves local, seasonal produce in the restaurant.
Score from 645 reviews Superb
A lovely, friendly pub with great character. The food was excellent, service good and bedroom clean. Very well placed for exploring this part of the beautiful Cotswolds.
Food and beer
Water pressure in room a bit low
Food and ambience good rooms good decor.
The mattress very hard!
very cozy and very well run would go back and recomend to others
The staff were great and the breakfast was glorious, such a great choice and all the produce was high quality. The dinner in the evening was equally great and our room was really charming.
Close to who and what we wanted to see.
The very steep stairs to the rooms. Luckily there were young men to carry up the luggage!
Beautiful setting with friendly staff. lovely bar area and a great selection of drinks. Evening meal reasonable.
Stayed in Roman Road. Unfortunately we had a very amorous couple next door in Spice Route and could hear every little thing even conversation. Their bed creaked all night even just getting up to go to the loo. Also dogs are allowed and the one next to us barked in the afternoon after being left alone. Bathroom tatty in places. Breakfast average.
Very friendly, attentive and obliging staff in this family run business. The food was excellent and very good value for the money. We would return.
The stairs were fairly steep with narrow treads so one should be careful if you are infirm on your feet.
Food and breakfast was excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly, most welcoming. Room had a safari theme, tad unusual for middle of Cotswolds! Peaceful village.
Steep shallow stairs wouldn't suit elderly or infirm.
Lovely, relaxing stay in China Seas. Food was excellent with a very good choice and all staff were very friendly. Would certainly return & recommend to friends. Thank you.
Not able to turn the volume of the TV down, but not a big issue.
Super location and great atmosphere, food and drink excellent and busy another sign of a good hotel.
Had a problem with the hot water, probably could have been sorted, but we were in a hurry
Lovely inn, lovely food , lovely room. Great place for a night or two away from it all.
Nothing really. Couldn't get wi fi but that didn't bother us.
Rooms were themed and interesting Breakfast was ok
Not really worth £140 for a double
The food was very good and well priced. Staff very attentative. Good car parking, which is essential if you have a blue badge.
For breakfast I had a crust served as I of 2 slices of toast. I know I could have protested, but decided to eat it. So it's a silly one...Room a bit cold, and 1 window not staying up when opened. Couldn't reach the velux to shut it, had to use ironing board as a pole! Could do with a make over.
Breakfasts and Dinners were very good. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Double bed with access from one side only.
The welcome was perfect, the accommodation was good, the cellar was well kept, the staff were outstanding and so was the food. In all a very worthwhile location to stay in the Cotswolds.
This is a brewery owned Inn, the staff from the managers to the Chefs and Waitress's work hard but minor repairs need attention throughout this historic inn.
The room was cute and had character. The breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly. The outside patio area is nice for drinks in the sunshine.
The bath wasn't particularly clean and nor was the carpet. The wifi was awful, we couldn't use it in our room at all. Definitely not 4 star, 3 star at a push.
Beautiful old coaching Inn. Attached to a pub in a Cotswold stone village not too far from Oxford. Great food (we had dinner as well as the breakfast which was included), ambiance and rooms.
Friendliness, Comfort, Cleanliness, Country Pub atmosphere and the Breakfast (especially the Porridge and the Sausage) and the Beer was good.
The Price (but this goes with the location I suppose?)
Excellent quality of food/quisine, great beers and wine choice. Friendly staff and servers!
Rooms were very hot at night, even with window open. The four poster beds are very nice, comfortable to sleep in, but no headboard to rest on to read and difficult to exit without disturbing the other person. Television is old and poorly positioned. We were in the Spice room.
Staff were very helpful and friendly; food was excellent as was the beer and wine; excellent location for visiting the Cotswolds.
No hot water in one of the room Paris en Provence, so we were moved for the second day to a very small room. The bed in the new room was a 4 poster with 'stakes' hanging from the top which meant that heads were banged on climbing into the bed unless extreme vigilance was exercised. The Wi-Fi in the room was weak and erratic. At £350+ for two nights bed, breakfast and a modest evening meal with a bottle of wine, its expensive, even for the Cotswolds.
Excellent food and friendly efficient service. Beautiful old building. Easy distance to Oxford park and ride and Chipping Norton.
the ambience,menu and the room
very steep stairs not suitable for anyone with mobility problems-our room was on the steeper side-although other side also very steep
For us this was a dream of a location. Am an ex-pat Brit living in California - don't miss London, but miss the English countryside. The village is idyllic, The Lamb Inn has made itself part of the local community, and the warmth and professionalism of the service make you feel right at home. The restaurant serves fine food, and the wine selection if more than adequate. We spent an amazing four days in this magical haven.
Friendly staff, great food, quirky accommodation,
Tiny TV. In wardrobe.
