This traditional 19th century, friendly village inn is situated in the pretty village of Slyne-with-Hest, 2 miles north of the historic city of Lancaster.

This 17th century, luxury, boutique hotel is the only 4-star hotel in the center of Lancaster, and is superbly situated in the heart of the city.
Score from 339 reviews Excellent
I ordered a very simple meal and it was so badly cooked that I had to refuse to eat it and send it back. I have never had to do this before. Too close to the road to expect a decent night's sleep.
Convenient location. Spacious, comfortable room
Noisy public area and dining room. Staff in dining room seemed slightly stressed.
Pool and leisure facilities.
We had bedrooms at the front of the hotel and noise from the main road outside was very bad. Next time I'd require a room at the rear.
Every aspect, perfect position for cycling and sightseeing.
Nothing to dislike. Well done to all staff.
pretty well every thing
Mattress was uncomfortable
The gap under the door which let too much light into the room if you like sleeping in a dark room.
Convenient location for travellers and/or meeting people.
Prices; it is nothing spectacular. I have stayed in more luxurious places in more prime locations and paid less for both room and refreshments.
Very friendly staff, easy to find, very clean, very comfortable beds and plenty of space in the room and bathroom. Plenty of parking - will definitely stay there again if visiting the area.
Easy to get to. Just off the motorway. Plenty of parking. Clean and comfortable rooms. Lovely breakfast.
Noisy room at the front of the hotel above the function room entrance and smoking point!!!
Breakfast with pancake machine. Comfy bed and pillows. Good pay to view films Staff. welcome. location
The hotel was a typical Holiday Inn -clean and well looked after. Decor good if bland. It was easy to find -just off the M6. The room was large with two double beds. It was lovely and quiet - even though we stayed on a Friday night - no midnight rrevellers The breakfast choices were good. The receptionist present whilst we were checking out was lovely and friendly and helpful.
Friendly helpful staff.
Shower was very poor quality.
Excellent service and food in the restaurant. Ease of parking. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Bathroom a bit dated.
Friendly staff, plenty of parking, good breakfast
All staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. If you sign on for a loyalty scheme WiFi is free and this was so for both rooms I booked. Food at dinner was actually very good, the steak especially was cooked to perfection and it is rarely you can say that even in a first rate restaurant. Wendy was an excellent server. The hotel's situation was brilliant for us and we were able to visit a number of places.
Breakfasts were not good, coffee was almost cold, fresh bread looked as though it had not seen the inside of an oven, disappointing when you consider the effort made over dinner menu. A waiter chewing gum is not a pretty sight. No private changing in men's pool area -a moan from my grandsons who found the area rather embarassing and a bit 'weird'.
Friendly helpful staff
rooms bed situation
wi-fi not free
staff welcoming and helpful, good food in restaurant, swimming pool included in fee.
noise from road, room too hot 2nd night and couldn't cool room
friendly staff especially at Reception nice big room, quiet
other guests!! Lots of families with poorly supervised children made breakfast an unpleasant experience. Not hotels fault though
Comfy bed but small for two people. Only a standard double. Good size of room.
Prices in bar/coffee shop. Ridiculously high. No free internet and very high costs for connection. Weak tastless coffee at breakfast.
We booked online with booking.com, making a special request for a double room. When we arrived we were given a twin room. I rang down to reception and was told bluntly I should take it up with booking.com (not really an option at 8.00pm) and anyway they were fully booked and could not move us to a double room. The receptionist I spoke to was very unhelpful and quite offhand. The rest of our stay was ok, but our anniversary weekend was spoilt.
The clean room and swimming pool
Overpriced, !! £115. for an ordinary room, without breakfast is too much, long walk on the 3rd floor ,to room with 2 single beds , we requested a double bed.., Noisy and slow service in the restaurant.
Location was quite convenient just outside Lancaster City centre. Fairly quiet even though it was only just off the M6. Executive rooms were nice but not particularly special. Friendly staff. Bottled water and chocolate complimentary together with use of bathrobe. Pool nice and reasonable size with jacuzzi.
Thought the rooms very expensive for what they were!!! Bed not comfortable which is a must!!! Not even any biscuits on the tea tray, bit mean. Think there was meant to be slippers too but there weren't. There were several doors off their hinges in the lounge area suggesting a possible refurb but no other sign of one!!! Very noisy at night with kids running around the bar area which is not conducive to a quiet drink!!! Food not great either. We soon found better elsewhere. Wouldn't pay high price again for the same facilities.
