It felt like staying at someone's home.
Location. Quaint room. Excellent comfortable bed
Bed very comfortable. En suite spotless and had lovely extras like shower gels and shampoos. Beautiful décor. Lovely furniture and furnishings. Breakfast carefully thought out and lots of choice.
Scary bust of a God in the fireplace. Freaked me out a bit! Quite noisy at pub closing time.
We were welcomed by the owner's Mother who was delightful. The twin room we had was very clean We loved the old beams and decor. There were plenty of items for breakfast if we chose to eat in our room or there is a cafeteria adjoining if a cooked breakfast is preferred. Easy distance from shops and river walks.
There was nothing to dislike. There was a window pane which needed attention but that was all.
Location in the centre of the city close to restaurants shops e.thing at a walking distance
breakfast in bedroom
noise from stansted airport : no rug or carpet on the floor made; breakfast was in the room with no bread or butter just cerel, juice, yogurt. the room was not finished.
Behind a beautiful mysterious white door I entered in an absolutely amazing world of cozy interior, where I forgot about the present and I found myself in the English history... greetings to the friendly "farmer" in a picture on the wall ...:) kisses from Poland. Monika
Very noisy Poor sleep due to noise in room and noise levels of other guests Continental breakfast - minimal
clean and comfortable room
breakfast is only orange juice, cold milk and corn flakes, it's ok in summer but would be better if there is something hot in the morning
Extremely friendly staff. Sited in the middle of Bishops Stortford above a beautiful tea room. Part of the building is, I think,300 years old. Very clean and well maintained. Quaint room with bundles of character.
Beautiful old building with fantastic beamed room. Beds very comfortable and good ensuite which is bigger than it appears in the photos. We liked self serve breakfast in room With fridge. Parking just outside front door
Some noise because you are right in town centre but nothing major. Also squeaky floorboards from other rooms and guests but part of charm of the place
Room was good with excellent bathroom. Fridge and refreshment facilities excellent.
Had to ask in tea shop for directions and then phone for instructions on how to get in etc. Partially hearing- not good situation! Nowhere did description say that it was only a few room- no access to rest of building. Car parking only just adequate. Lucky to get a space- couldn't earlier in the afternoon, only in the evening when we came back.
location but sleep was very difficult because of loud disco near by.
Owner was quite aggressive when I rung him. Bed was so small we had to sleep head to feet! The picture is misleading as they have not got the whole of the building.
Great location,good for Airport.
Rooms not finished,no table to eat your breakfast on,very noisy at night from other people in B&B as rooms are all linked to the same small landing.
Charming, Beds very comfortable. Ideal location in centre.
Location short walk from rail station and plenty of restaurants/amenities on the doorstep. Breakfast inside the room.
location excellent once you have located it (took a bit of finding).
lot of noise from night club downstairs & brekfast was mediocre at best. What do continentals find good about this
Noise from neighboring bar on a Tuesday, not expected mid week
I loved everything about this place. It's a beautiful house, the room was lovely, fully furnished and well equipped. The toilet was also pristine clean and the shower was great. The staff is charming, everyone treats you as a new friend, not a customer. Plus, you're just steps away from everything, so it's extremely convenient. I loved my stay here and would totally recommend it to anyone!
Walls a bit thin , the dressing table was away from the light difficult to do makeup bath room very dark
We came to Bishop Stortford tp visit our daughter who lives here... The location to her was perfect and the reason we chose here, but having exprienced it the location is also ideal for the restaurants and the main street for shops... The train is also reasonably close and so we enjoyed a day out to London and another to Cambridge
The curtains are to fine and let the morning light in
Centre of town
Wood floors Paper thin walls Massive thick quilt far too hot and no alternative Doors sticking and so had to force to close making a noise Tiny box of cereal, small carton of orange and a yogurt biscuit for breakfast in your room.
We have travelled far and wide and the Lancasters Guest House is by far our absolute 'fav'. The Guest House is beautifully quaint and our room was spotless and furnished to a high standard, even our en suite bathroom was indeed faultless. We had a mini fridge filled with Juices, water, yoghurt , milk and there was plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate as well as quite a choice of cereals. The owner, David could not do enough for us and we were made to feel so welcome.. The location is superb, right in the town of Bishops Stortford and just a short ride away to Stansted Airport. All in all , value for money is an under statement. We would like to thank David for looking after us so well and I would recommend the Lancasters to all, it really is an excellent stay.
A good choice of place to stay! Nice room. Making of bed and changing of towels every day. Location brilliant, a short walk to everything. Helpfull staff that let us leave our luggage after checkout. To be recommended!
Had other thoughts of what was a continental breakfast! Only cereals? Nah - a roll or toast and jam at least! Did miss that, but got it ourselves.. Juice only one morning (of three), got that ourselves too.
Nice room with a contemporary feel Central location Continental breakfast provided in the room Full cooked breakfast for reasonable price
The noise from Host Bar / Club next door was very loud and went on until the small hours The room was also noisy due to the wooden floors and plumbing For these reasons we would not stay here again
