A mile from Salisbury city centre, this 4-star (AA) B&B is in its own beautiful gardens, well situated on the A36 for Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, Old Sarum and Longleat.
Score from 276 reviews Superb
The historic Lamb dates back to the 12th century and offers a pub, dining room and individually styled bedrooms with satellite TV. Stonehenge is a 25-minute drive away.
Score from 101 reviews Fabulous
Set in a beautiful 13th-century building, the Red Lion Hotel has an award-winning restaurant furnished with antiques. Handmade furnishings made on site feature in each individually decorated room.
Score from 341 reviews Good
Qudos is a newly refurbished Victorian hotel in Salisbury city centre, just a 5-minute walk from Salisbury Cathedral. It offers spacious rooms with en suite bathrooms, satellite TVs and free Wi-Fi.
Score from 331 reviews Good
The kindness, informality and obliging attitude and genuine efforts of the hosts, the well-presented and spotless accommodation, comfortable rooms and beds and the relative peace of the immediate environment. Home-produced breakfasts are a delight to taste.
Slightly noisy and hectic daytime A30 running right past the front boundary (though the tall boundary hedge helps) and the need to use a car to find an evening meal, etc (the nearest pub The Compasses - just walkable - was too popular).
We were extremely comfortable at lancers and will definitely return special effort for my gluten free dietary needs was made, toiletries high quality food was organic and locally sourced, breakfast high quality and cooked fresh good for days out plenty to do we were able to visit beach and city days from this base all were within travelling distance
Nothing to not like
Beautiful place, with very conscientious staff. Rooms were well presented and clean, and the breakfast and meals were of a high standard. Me and my partner fully enjoyed our stay, and would definitely consider renting a room here in the future.
Staff excellent and lovely property / location
Bed wasn't overly comfortable eg. small duvet underneath sheet made bed lumpy.
Facilities and attention to detail; location lovely, very friendly proprietors.
Location, friendliness, room, breakfast
We were made very welcome. We spent a relaxing few days enjoying the excellent breakfasts and the peaceful surroundings.
It was fine.
Breakfast was excellent and the opportunity to buy the local produce
The staff were attentive, polite and genuinely could not fault a thing. The beds were comfy and breakfast was great. I loved that chickens roamed about free.
Ideally located for the Chalke Valley History Festival, this is always a friendly place to stay. I was in the annexe, presumably the former coach house, which has large, very comfortable rooms and you can sit outside in the sunny yard with free-ranging hens. Breakfast (including home-made bread, sausages, chutney and baked beans) is particularly good. I hope to be back next year.
It was very handy for our needs, and was a great location. The bed was huge! The owner was very helpful and made you feel welcome.
Not really a dislike, but the cooked breakfast could have been slightly bigger portions. It was superb but could have done with a bit more.
Award winning B&B and it was fabulous! Very comfy bed, luxury toiletries and even hair straighteners!! The room was immaculate and the furnishings were high quality, we couldn't have asked for more. The Food....Well that was just first class, organic AND homemade, no wonder they have just won 2014 National Breakfast Award. I would highly recommend this unexpected 'little gem'. We will definitely be back.
Excellent breakfast - everything home made
Way over priced. This is a three star not five star property!! Should be paying no more than £85.00 per night. Mattress was so soft we couldnt sleep.
Bad lighting in bathroom
The service is outstanding. Nik and Jayne couldn't have been nicer and the food was excellent. We loved that as much as possible the food was local and homemade. Lancer' is well located for day trips. We enjoyed out stay.
We liked everything!
the owners has been amazing!!!wonderful breakfast!!!
the room was too small for three people and not enough furnished!lack of wardrobe!Hard to find it during the night,no enough light and no sign.
The location was lovely. The food was excellent. The views were great and the hosts were knowledgeable and friendly.
Friendly service, nice rooms, good breakfast.
Really friendly owners & staff. Food fantastic. All home-made or locally sourced. Peaceful setting. Immaculate rooms & furnished to a high standard. Pretty central to many sights & attractions.
Extremely friendly family .. very comfortable rooms ... excellent food .. only wish we could have stayed longer. This will certainly be our first choice when we're in the area again.
Thought it was a lovely B and B. Friendly, good food and comfotable. Lovely beds!
excellent service good food excellent breakfast comfortable rooms and facilities enjoyed pool facility
The food on offer for dinner and breakfast was fresh, wholesome and delicious. The joint owners were friendly, knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful. The location offers a great many choices for relaxing drives and walks.
The family who run this B&B were outstandingly friendly and helpful. Lancer House is an amazing place, very clean. The food was exquisite, all home cooked to perfection even home-baked bread and ice cream with amazing flavours, and above all else good value for money.
We had an extra large bed and would usually prefer it a little firmer but that is not a necessity.
Everything I wouldn't change anything just wish we could have stayed for longer
