The Daffodil Hotel and Spa offers contemporary luxury on the shores of Grasmere water, located in the heart of The Lake District and just a short walk into Grasmere village.
Score from 462 reviews Fabulous
In Kendal town centre, the Riverside Hotel is a 17th-century building with a state-of-the-art leisure club. Rooms have river views, and Windermere and the Yorkshire Dales are 15 minutes' drive away.
Score from 264 reviews Good
Wateredge Inn stands on the shores of Lake Windermere, a short walk from Ambleside centre.

Score from 515 reviews Very good
Great all round experience. We will be back next year.
Elterwater is beautiful - especially for walking around The hotel is smart but relaxed and very comfortable with plenty of good places to eat The Spa's pool and sauna are good and it has a fully stocked, if small gym
The 'gunpowder' room decoration was a bit on the dark side for my taste
Restaurant was special, creative and successful menu we like the environment of a complex of facilities, brolly in the room an essential
Worst cup of breakfast tea I ever had.
The hotels facilities and breakfast where fantastic.the hotel is perfectly placed and has wonderful scenery. Me and partner will be making this hotel our place to get away. I honestly drove around lake district and could not find a hotel that had the scenery language has with its river running just at the side of the hotel make this a must go hotel if you want relaxing walks of discovery and lovely rooms with an amazing breakfast.
I can't think of anything I didn't like, perhaps WiFi was a bit slow and 02 sldidnt cover the area bit other then that the hotel is amazing and I recommend it to anyone who wants to refresh and get away from it all.
Every member of staff was customer focussed. Standard of room was excellent. Enjoyed the jacuzzi bath! Meals excellent and we were allowed to treat the hotel as our home as the weather was poor during our stay.
We stayed in room 124. Lighting along the access road could be better. Also that road was the exit road so dangerous at night for pedestrians with no footpath. Heavy rain emphasised drainage problems at access to rooms.
Lovely Location and the room was immaculate! Kendal Mint Cake was a nice touch!
My husband had a massage which he did not enjoy. In fact it bruised his back. Not very relaxing! The shower wasn't working in the morning and we had to call reception to have it reset. Modern technology. Also People were waiting for the buffet to be topped up at breakfast.
Liked the facilities including the excellent pool and spa....the interior of the hotel, particularly the bar looked smart...room service was quick and efficient.
Hotel was cold at night and staff didn't bother keeping fires going in the restaurant or bar if there werent many customers which resulted in these areas being too cold to stay in...as such we had to return to our room instead. The hotel felt quite corporate and is quite unattractive in its exterior appearance...more like a motel. The food and drink was very, very expensive for what you actually got....ie...good quality but not outstanding.
Staff were lovely. Facilities were high standard. Very nice relaxing weekend
The walk from the restaurants and bar area to the room is outside and it was not well lit.
Location. Spa. Breakfast. Walks from site.
Bathroom dated. Noise from exit road.
Location Facilities Comfort Toiletries Food Bar Staff
Bath a bit small and shower not powerful but that's me being fussy....all was very lovely.
Fantastic service and great facilities on site. And a truly beautiful setting in the Langdale valley
Excellent spa facilities and pool, attention to detail everywhere, superb location for pubs and walking
The scambbled eggs ! not sure what it was but I couldn't eat it, guess might have been liquid egg as I have fallen for this before! , but I would be very surprised if an establishment like this can't make proper scrambled eggs. At least I wasn't charged for them.
Fellside room, very quiet with good facilities. Breakfast excellent with a wide choice served buffet style. Hot food looked (and tasted) good and replenished regularly. Wainwrights Inn 5 mins walk (take a torch) for good pub grub. Purdey's Restaurant for a bit of a special treat. Great pool and Spa kept spotlessly clean. All staff very helpful.
Room was a bit sombre and not much natural light (although Dec). Lighting made reading a bit difficult (more so in bed)
Could not get my choice spa treatments as they where fully booked
From arriving to leaving we loved it. Reception staff absolutely spot on and the room, food and location were second to none, Would go return to the hotel and telling others about it. Special thanks to Zac and Jason the bar manager who were chatty , friendly and very professional. Overall , simply excellent. Tony and Sarah
Lovely waterside room! Great pool and bar. Service at the bar off from purdeys was great staff were lovely and friends checking how everything was throughout. Room service staff were great too. Beautiful location
Staff at the terrace restaurant were appalling. Tipping their head back and sighing, dragging their feet. Nobody around once food was on table. So couldn't ask for condiments to go with meal. Nobody asked how our meal was. Or thanked us as we left. Clearly the staff at the terrace did not want to be there.
We loved every minute of our stay . Very peaceful and relaxing . This break at this hotel was just what we needed . Thank you to all the staff for making out stay so enjoyable.
Having to leave
The langdale area is beautiful. The complex fits well into its surroundings. The room was lovely. Really well designed an cosy. Also the wifi signal was stong and consistent. The shower was like a wonderful fierce rain storm. Perfection. The sauna and steam room were to a very high standard. The only complaint I have for the spa is that the pool is too small.
The duvet and pillows were feathered, therefore really noisy as you slept. Also the pillows were very flat once you rested upon them. Plus the room had a distinct caravan damp smell. Tip. If you are planning on eating at wainwrights Inn.(Which I recommend) bring a torch with you, as the walk from the hotel to the Inn is along a road with no curbs and no street lighting. It was pitch black from 5pm when we stayed in November.
The signature double room was amazing and very tidy, staff were all very helpful and friendly! Whole place had a very relaxed and warm feel! All in all an amazing 2 night stay!
Only 1 thing I could say to improve on is the information provided by staff, didn't really tell you things as to whether you had to pay then and there or not in the restaurants however it was still lovely.
Fantastic location. Room was lovely and the bed was so comfortable we want to buy one for ourselves! Great food and the breakfast buffet was good. We liked that we were very much left to our own devices and weren't bothered by staff unless needed. Peaceful and relaxing.
Perhaps a bit more choice in the cold section of the breakfast buffet. Some items in the mini bar e.g. cold drink would have been good. (Very minor points!)
Excellent hotel, lovely room, no complaints.
I recently stayed at langdale hotel and it's such an amazing place from the room which was luxurious to the spa n eating facility, I could not fault any minute if the trip n will be back very soon
Exceptional service. Accommodation first rate. Food first class. Location stupendous.
Choice of eating places
lack of adequate parking and a flesh ripping, coarse finish to the sides of the pool below the waterline. The designer/procurement responsible should be retrained to avoid repeating such an ill advised finish. I ripped my toe which is just healed some weeks later.
The Spa was lovely, very clean, nice staff, somewhere to eat upstairs with newspapers and wifi. The evening meal was good in the resturant, adjoining the bar area. Shame the hotel was not as good
Firstly the Reception staff were not over friendly, and just gave you a key and a map,to find your own room in the grounds, we noticed that there were older people confused outside as to where to find the rooms, as it was dark outside and never been here before. Did not like that the Room was not adjoining the hotel, which meant that you had to walk through the grounds in the rain for breakfast and dinner, the grounds were also quite dark near to where the rooms were located. We were in room 131. It also meant that you had no adjoining lounge or relaxation room to read. Not a nice location for the room. We also found that the Buffet Breakfast was cold, which was not enjoyable, so did not eat the cooked breakfast. The second day we ordered a breakfast from the kitchen, which did come hot. Overall would probably not stay here again as have been to much better hotels for same or less money.
