Bed was comfortable and air bath was nice after long walks This place is over-priced and they have shoe-horned a third bedroom into what was two bedrooms and are still charging for light airy spacious bedrooms which are in fact small, dark and overlooking the car park and service areas - really not worth the money and far better options available in the lakes. The food in restaurant was good, but again at £154 for a meal for two very overpriced.

the environment and seclution The room wasnt in great condition the plug in the bathroom didnt work, the shower had no water pressure so it took ages for my partner to wash her hair and no sound system as promised, then the air bath broke so wouldnt switch off so i switched it off at the fuse, the room was overall a little crummy for £185 The staff and the estate was fantastic though, shame the bars at night were a little empty, although kids splashing around in the pool it was still very relaxing and scenic until a Bat flew in through the window, however this was very funny. room 1 out of 5 the rest 4/5.

We like the setting and the site. The rooms are comfortable, but I would not call them luxurious, as they are quite small, but the jacuzzi bath is a nice touch. We have only stayed in the Fellside rooms, which is fine as we have always managed a mid-week discount price. If I paid the going rate I would expect something a little more luxurious. The staff are always helpful. The choice of eateries on site is good, and the food has reflected the type of eatery and the price, I.E. gourmet, bistro or pub grub, and there are also off site alternatives nearby and in Ambleside. We go back regularly, so, obviously, we do like it and would recommend it if you like beautiful scenery, fresh air and pleasant variety of walks and other nearby activities. We didn't really dislike anything. The bars shut very early, by our standards, but we were tired from walking, so it didn't really matter. However, even Hobson's, the `late night` bar was closing by 23.00, and the Terrace was asking if you wanted last drinks by 22.00! But it was mid-week and not very busy. Hobson's bar prices are very expensive, and that put us off having more drinks there, even though the setting is very attractive. The Fellside rooms need some updating, redecorating, and please get rid of those awful bedside lamps which take up all the bedside table space and have these huge ugly brown light shades! Very old fashioned and far too big! Wall mounted bedside lights would be better, plusa more modern, free standing, lamp. The rooms would benefit from losing the overall `brown` tone, and some lighter colours of curtains and shades etc. Blinds would be nice, so that if you are on the ground floor you can get dressed, or changed, without shutting the curtains and shutting out all the light. The nets are not good enough for this as you can see through them if you have a light on at all.

The staff were very friendly, especially in The Terrace restaurant. Thought the drinks were expensive in the bar compared to Wainwrights pub. Had a lovely overnight stay, breakfast was excellent. Wish I had known prior to our stay that we could use the spa/pool the day we booked out.

Lovely individual lodges on one site made for a private feel to the accomodation. Very clean and well maintained in lodges and main building. Best shower I have ever used. Attentive staff and good quality breakfast. Wainwright's Inn serves wonderful food and was a huge highlight of the trip! The ideal traditional lakes pub with great food and attentive, helpful and courteous staff. I would definitely return for a special occasion or 'treat' weekend. No real negatives although the hotel and spa is relatively more expensive than its counterparts in the lakes so I would expect a more premium service because of this. Slightly removed from Ambleside's main attractions and therefore difficult to visit anywhere off site in the evening without a car.

Lovely location. Rooms were modern, and comfortable. Bartender who worked on the bar was really keen to make cocktails not on the menu and did a good job! No genuine welcome from reception. The hotel overall is good, and the location is lovely. For the cost of the hotel you basically get the pool, I dont really think there is anything special that differentiattes this hotel with ones in the same price bracket.

The Hotel is set in the Langdale Valley, (a cul-de-sac), so it is off the regular beaten track within the Lake District. So there is no great rush of traffic except to visit this location. My wife and I found it a little gem of a place. The hotel is situated in a great location surrounded by hills. The accomodation is top class and the staff reflect this in their appearance and manners. It is a true relaxation spot. The meals were well presented and of an excellent standard. I can recommend the Wainwrights pub for the atmosphere. (The quiz night was great fun). Will make this a regular visit from now on. Our room was a 'Signature' room which was in a small annex off the main Hotel building. The only thing about that was the fact it was located above the kitchens for Purdeys Restaurant. We noticed the extractor fan at 6am and untill it was turned off at 11pm or so. Plus the staff on 'Pan Bash' were just that. The clanking of the pots and pans did resound through the room.

The hotel has building work going on they did warn us. However the hotel bedrooms overlook the site so it was impossible to ignore. If we had been staying any longer than one night we would have left. There was no help with our luggage and two members of staff actually watched us struggle up the stairs with suitcases. We will not be going back. Building work will be going on for a very long time.

I thought the room was a reasonably well appointed and had nice decor. I think the location of the hotel is fantastic. I did not utilise the SPA facilities, but these look nice. I thought the food and accomodation was overpriced as both are merely OK as opposed to being of a high standard.

The food was fantastic and the restaurant staff very good Our room was miles away from the main hotel so awful to walk from the pool with wet cold children. It was not nice asking my mother to have to walk in the pouring rain to go for breakfast. The lighting to the main hotel was dangerously poor. Our room looked nothing like the ones shown on the web site. I was not allowed to use the gym while my children were in the pool (they are 13 and 15 and excellent swimmers) It would be a good idea to have a life guard watching the pool for the safety of older children/adults so I didn't have to babysit them. I thought it was extremely over priced for the rooms, I was bitterly disappointed with the hotel I

The hotel and spa had the whole package for my husband and I. The Hotel is cited in absolutely gorgeous location, where there is plenty of activity to suit everyone. Staff are very friendly and helpful and hotel rooms were very clean. Restaurants within the langdale estate suited all budgets. We will be going back soon that's for certain.

Wonderful location, good choice of dining ooptions at the hotel, very good spa facilities - both treatmenrts as well as pool, sauna, steam room and gymnasium. Many rooms are situated away from the main hotel reception/dining and spa areas. This is not made explicit when booking.
