Friendly staff; superb grub; parking; quiet, excellent bar service; very clean room and linen; restaurant. Bed small; room access through low ceiling servants passage; cigarette ends on floor in entrance hall; approach road full of potholes. Non discretionary unheralded service charges.

Absolutely brilliant hotel where they clearly paid a lot of attention to styling but at the same time ensuring to maintain all the original features of this beautiful old mansion. With its close proximity to Gatwick you wonder why people bother staying at any of the chain hotels around the airport where one could stay in such a stunning hotel. We had a lovely room with a very comfortable bed and a huge bathroom. Service was excellent as well with breakfast served in bed which after a wedding the previous day is definitely the right thing to do.

Beautiful hotel with very comfortable, luxurious rooms - up-to-date modern facilities in a period setting. Superb food in a "fine dining" genre: service par excellence - nothing was too much effort. Not easy to find via sat. nav. Approach road not very prepossessing.

The room and ambience of the hotel were excellent Recently refurbished to a very high standard Dinner was extortionate 39.50 for two courses is bad enough but add a plate of cheese each and the price rises by £12 each Only 2 meat courses and one , the beef was £6 extra Drinks are v expensive £9.50 for a brandy All this plus 12.5percent made dinner for 2 over £200 including wine So a competitive room rate becomes a v expensive stay Breakfast at £19.50 each is a joke

The ambience, the food, the way the staff treat the guests, the style of the place - everything really. Our fifth stay there over the last 5 years or so. We only spent one night there!

The fact we were led to believe we would be in one of the Historical named rooms but were put in a separate "newer" building which was tired and needed some repairs and upgrading. The floor had a section where the carpet sank as if into a hole in the floor

Almost everything, hotel stunning, rooms beautiful and ultra clean, staff could not have been friendlier, and food excellent. maybe because it's an Elizabethan Manor house, it was a bit cold in certain areas.

This manor house is set in an idylic location. The staff were very attentive and first class. the room was amazing. I received a call a couple of days before telling me that one of the junior suites was available if i would like it. i am glad I payed the little extra as it was amazing. The food was very good although a little pricey, but the service and atmosphere was amazing. I would strongly recomend this hotel and I would like to stay again. afternoon tea is well worth having.

The old but cosy atmosphere; great individual rooms; and above all the excellent food. It's a little hard to find - down a narrow lane with only a small signpost. Otherwise I can't see anything to dislike.

It's a beautiful place, and brought back very happy memories - our daughter was married there five years ago, and Langshott did a great job for us then, and made it a wonderful day. This time we were disappointed - although the staff were still excellent, our room very comfortable and the place itself still lovely, our safe didn't work, the bathroom mirror lights didn't work on one side of the mirror, and, on the morning we left, no water at all (hot or otherwise) came out the hot tap. For an expensive room, it was very unsatisfactory to have to complain about three separate faults.

the hotel is absolutly delightfull. The grounds are in keeping with an Elizibethen manor and the whole feel is of somthing out of the ordinary. If your fed up with the standard modle of hotels choose this one you will not be disapointed. Very close to Gatwick airport which again is just very very unexpected. The facilities in the hotel are shall we say limited however this should not discourage you from making the booking. There is a high end restaurant in the hotel and this is also pretty good. Not quite your scampie and chips sort of place though.

Stunning historic Manor with beautiful rooms and suites across several buildings. We stayed in the Anne Boelyn suite which was spacious and beautifully appointed with a view out over the lake. Great bathroom and very comfortable bed - also nice touches such as magazines and quality bath products. We had dinner and breakfast at the Manor - both were delicious with dinner a gourmet treat delivered with friendly but very professional service. Best meal we had in the UK! If you need a weekend break or a place to stay near Gatwick airport then I can't recommend the hotel highly enough - expensive but lovely so treat yourself and have something special! A couple of minor gripes - no milk to have with the tea/coffee provided, and coffee grounds provided but no coffee plunger to use them with. Also asked for two extra pillows which arrived quickly but with no pillow covers. A common problem with UK hotel is the lack of a power point in the bathroom - a drama for us gals who need to blow dry or style our hair! If this can't be provided due to safety reasons the please put one near a well lit mirror in the bedroom.
