Langstone Cliff Hotel  

The location was ideal for our trip. There were excellent facilities available which would certainly suit families. The parking was good and it was within easy walk of the coastal footpaths/station/bus routes etc.The staff were very friendly which made up for the slight 'niggles' which I have listed below.

The dining room - beautifully decorated but the tables were lined up in rows - very cafeteria. They were so close together (1-2inches apart) that conversation ended up being stilted. The buffet style dinner did not really work for us - the food was being kept hot, so items such as tuna dried out rapidly. Lack of staff and/or training meant that items such as bread were offered to some tables and not others and there was definitely no explanation of what to do - we had to keep asking. This could be a really great hotel - it needs a little 'fine tuning' You really should have freshly cooked items for the price.Cleanliness was a slight issue - bins not emptied everyday in the bathroom, tiles obviously not wiped down so hairs left, condiment sets not cleaned (dried baked bean sauce on ours) - all tiny things that could easily be sorted.

Good view, good food, good walking areas.

Bed linen not changed often enough.

I particularly liked the attitude of the staff. We really enjoyed the jazz evening and the food was excellent.

Nothing to report here - I really can't think of anything

Everything but particularly the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. All areas of the hotel are excellent: some hotels spend a lot of money on foyer, dining room, bar and other public areas and skimp on the rooms. Not so the Langstone Cliff. We were delighted to find we had a balcony and a sea view. I am now retired, but during my business career one of my tasks was to select country hotels with leisure facilities for conferences. I have visited a lot of hotels that simply do not live up to their brochures or first impressions but Langstone Cliff was definitely not one of them. We will be back!

We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at the hotel and the food was very good. The staff were very helpful. We would consider going there again.

It was friendly, clean and comfortable and in a fantastic location - easy access to beach etc. We booked because we were travelling with a dog.

Because of its facilities it was overun with children who sometimes took over the lounge as if it was their home. The serried rows in the dining room felt like school dinners - we resorted to bar meals in the lounge which was much better. Note - we altered the booking to twin room After the w/e the hotel was half empty. We felt that, with many hotels now offering a room rate, the cost of a per person rate would put folk off.

I came to the hotel for the wedding of Christine and James Maloney and was accompanied unexpectedly by a personal friend whose holiday had been cancelled. we found the hotel very comfortable and relaxed and were very impressed by the grounds, the views and the many facilities for children and adults with assorted tastes. the wedding was very well organised, the menu extremely good. All in all, a very confortable and relaxed hotel - most enjoyable.

My friend and I are rather elderly and found the various stairs a bit much, but had we put more forethought into the project we could, of course, have asked for ground floor accommodation,but that was our lack of time before the event.

The location, and the views from the hotel will always be special,also the charm and style of the hotel should remain the same.

The only thing i did'nt like was the room, it was very hot and although we had all the windows open it was still quite uncomfortable. It would have been nice to have had the choice of air conditioning. However, I know this is not always pracitable so as an alternative it would be a good idea to provide a fan for the rooms as standard rather than having to request one from reception.

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and did their best to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything that we needed. The atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed and we were able to have the break from our normal routine that we were hoping for.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere,excllent location for travelling to various places; five minute walk to the beach. Beds very comfortable. Food good from the restaurant or bar. Great choice at breakfast. Reasonable priced.
