Nice building. A bit pricey. Not so close to city centre. No toiletries in the room (though they gave them us upon request). Only 4-5 channels on tv. A light was out. Dust on hanging lamp.

Location was a plus point Not great value for money. The location is good but the Hotel in general is quite poorly maintained. I could list a number of issues but would probably run out of space. Very low standard of cleanliness in the rooms in terms of carpets had a number of marks/stains as did the headboard. The size of the room was ideal but generally let down by peeling wallpaper that was common throughout the hotel.. I paid £310 for 2 nights which was too much. I don't think it warrants a 4 star rating. Staff were reasonably friendly and helpful and I must say one young female receptionist on the Sunday morning was superb. Website does not reflect the current state/condition of the place. I would not recommend it.

I think that the staff were amazing nice and very helpful and friendly I dont think it is a 4 star hotel as advertised there is a small 15 inch tv (plasma) on the corner of the room with only free view no pay per view no mini bar ........ and very aged rooms we did complane about this and the staff gave us a better room were we were woken up in the morning with a flood from the bath room upstairs that went on for quiet some time and the same thing happened on the second day we orderd breakfast in bed on the second day and when it came there were no yogort or bread rolls the waiter apologised and told us that the hotel ran out of food and that there wasnt and yogort or rolls that day and that we should complane to the management I just want to add that the staff were really nice and friendly at all times

Very good staff who were helpful regarding information on their room sizes and arranged a change to a larger room but restricted by hotel rules regarding the breakfast prices. We loved the big white soft fluffy towels. Breakfast (not included in booking) was £9.75 for continental and £13.75 for full English. I just like toast and was charged £9.75 for it. I challenged this and was told "hotel policy" it would be great for a £5 option of toast and tea. Also, it was advertised from 8am and on Sat and Sun it was not ready till 8.20am. I was there for work and had to be on the road at 8.45am so as well as expensive, it was also a rush. Secondly on your site, their double room is a tiny, tiny box room so although the price is cheaper, and led me to book it, it is not comparing like with like. Other hotel double rooms were larger and this was not make clear on your site. Let me know what you will do about this please.

The staff we pleasant and the bed was comfy. The room wasn't ready when we arrived at 5.30pm. No pillowcases until about 7pm, no bedside lights, bulbs missing in the main light, no remote for the tv, generally run down (peeling paint in the room), not even any biscuits for the coffee! Over all it was a very poor hotel room. Staying in a hotel should be a treat, my own bedroom is more luxurious than this and this was just a hassle. Would not go back.

I would particularly like to mention Justin, who was hugely helpful when calling the hotel about parking facilities, room type and subsequently when I left my phone in the room upon checkout. The room was lovely both in decor and comfort and location was perfect. Far enough away from Brighton town to feel select but close enough to walk leisurely. Upon returning from our evening meal we found the hotel bar to be closed, the receptionist did not know what Brandy was and we could not get a coffee as the coffee machine 'was switched off'. The small balcony to the room had rubbish on it (from the room above one would assume) and this was most unsightly.

Hotel staff were superb - we had to go through two rooms as the heating didn't work properly and rooms were cold. The first one had a dirty carpet. We were eventually moved to a suite on 1st floor which was very comfortable but quite basic in amenities. Advertised as a 4 star hotel - must have been 20 years ago because it is quite basic - breakfast was not 4 stars.

The staff and service at reception was excellent, and in the spa where the staff and service was outstanding. The decor was a little dark for my taste, very dark colours used on the reception and on the walls throughout, but comfortable environment. I very much liked the bedroom decor, extremely pleasent. There were light bulbs missing and not working in the lamps in the lounge and I found it difficult to read. There was a light bulb not working in the entrance of our room, room maid staff needed to be reminded to replace the toiletries used. The food was excellent, both for breakfast and for the new years eve function, which we thoroughly enjoyed, and again the service was excellent. The gym was very disappointing and difficult to locate, in the Spa. I would however return to the hotel as generally a pleasent stay, and thank you to all staff.

We were disappointed. I had booked a stay here as the hotel was described as a design hotel. Our room was fine in itself, but had an air of casual neglect. There was a lamp on one side of the bed (rather than on both) - and I had to request a lightbulb for it. There was no desk lamp. The handle of the drawer of a bedside cabinet was broken. There were no glasses in the room and no fridge. The carpet was dirty. There was a calcified stain on the towel heater in the bathroom. The hotel bar was quite small and felt a bit chavvy. The buffet breakfast was pretty standard and could have been from a motorway service station. The scrambled eggs had a greenish tinge and looked as though they'd been sitting there for ages.

Pleasant quiet room, good size. We did not make use of any other facilities as we were attending a function nearby. We did not have water glasses in the room, we were informed that is was practice to put them in higher grade rooms, but we could have had some if we had called room service. We also only had one hand towel. This seemed a little skimpy for a 4star hotel

I liked it's location, just in Hobve and very close to the seafront. Boutique gone wrong!!!!!!!! We thought as it was a 4*, the standard and quality would be better than it was. Had to change rooms twice - one room had bits of ceiling hanging off for damp. Central heating was manual and rooms were cold. Shower was rubbish and food was dry in the restaurant. Not quite the romantic, luxury we were expecting!

The parking was very limited The room was very "tired" in terms of the decor and there was a lot of wear and tear and deterioration of the decor. The shower took an age to run warm/hot. The floor of the room was on a slope and that meant the head of the bed was lower than the foot of the bed. The bar staff seemed to be more interested in talking to other guests/friends than providing prompt servie to the guests - me. At no point did anyone offer to assist with luggage. The cooked buffett breakfast was cold within seconds of going onto the plate.

Good location and spacious room. Quiet setting. The Eggs Benedict with Salmon was extraordinarily good (09 Nov 2011). The quality of the coffee at breakfast was consistently appalling. In the room (room 113), the bathroom door could not close, basin tap fitting loose, in cupboard safe was unsecured (I.E. anyone could pick up the safe and walk away with it), and the wireless router was not well configured.

The staff and managers (especially Justin) were lovely and always very attentative face to face and on the telephone and being inbetween Brighton and Hove was a perfect location to enjoy both without being in the madness of Brighton central. I like the decor of modern mixed with the original wood on doors, lifts etc. My only disappointment was the breakfast. The breakfast buffet table was not very exciting and very basic. I would have expected a better selection from a 4 star hotel. Also, it would be nice to be served fresh coffee from a proper coffee machine or cafetiere - instead it was served from a thermos flask in front of us which you would expect where there are no facilities.
