Wonderful place, great setting. Great food. Small gripe - the level of dusting in room and entrance let the place down a little.

Very cheerful and helpful staff, helped out when I wanted to check out early in the morning. Lovely building with great charm. Right in the centre of town. Very handy for Avebury and the surrounding sites and sights. Limited car parking, but I easily found a parking space just up the lane.

Fifty years behind the times ,and all the better for it .When were you last offered fried bread with your cooked breakfast > A bit ragged round the edges , but the hotel is steeped in history.

Rooms were clean and nicely decorated Was told WiFi was most definitely available in all the rooms as I checked due to needing it for business. Unfortunately I was unable to get WiFi in mine and nor was my colleague. Won't be going there for business trip again due to this.

Staff were friendy and approachable even when worked off their feet. Don't be put off by the tired and old public bits: the room was clean, large, and freshly decorated; the shower was great; the food is good basic pub fare, and the building plainly has a long, long history.

It was cental for our needs It had potential but had an air of things could be better. The Manger needs to apply more attention to detail, Breakfast was chaotic, it needed a memeber of stall to ensure when guests arrived their needs were looked atfer. I appreciate this is the middle of May, and should not need heating but the room and bathroom were cold as the outside temperature was 6c. As previously mentioned the potential is there but it need better attention.

The Landsdowne Strand Hotel represented excellent value for money. It is situated in the heart of Calne a very pretty historical town in Wiltshire. The room although overlooking the Main Street was quiet and roomy with comfortable twin beds. We had to be careful when showering as the shower was in the bath but recessed behind stairs. Breakfast was excellent. Sometimes no one on reception but not a major issue.

Staff indulging with guests in the bar and not available to deal with problems. One pack of biscuits for two which would be provided for a single traveller. One chocolate drink instead of two - we do not drink tea or low grade coffee. Failure to respond to written request left at empty reception desk. Two night stay downgraded-if we had booked individual nights we would have had fresh towels, linnen. Shower not thermostatically controlled and shower head poor (small holes) causing spray to soak the floor. (Inadequate screens to prevent water staying in the bath) Mould on the shower tiles. Bedside lights - one unplugged and not working. Bed Head at an angle. These problems indicate poor observation by staff and their failure to report back to management. Hideous noise in the dining room (Radio 1) clearly for the benefit of young staff not the residents who were mainly aged between 40 and 70+. Very tired and run-down overall appearance of the hotel. The young boy in the breakfast room was very pleasant the breakfast was something else.

Value for money, nice staff, clean and comfortable Bathroom/shower needs upgrading. Breakfast was OK but we were not on a business trip and felt pressured to eat breakfast quickly as we were last in the restaurant and wanted to take our time.

The staff were very welcoming and the breakfast was good. The bed was extremely comfortable. The overall appearance needs work. The building is in a bad state of repair and although the place is clean it is very shabby, and they have obviously had a damp problem. The hotel needs modernising. The shower didn't work and the television reception and wi-fi was very poor.
