My wife uses a wheelchair and the staff were superb - access is via a wheelchair lift and staf were prompt to operate it and always cheerful and helpful. The room had superb views and was very comfortable. The hotel was kept warm throughout. Friendly and efficient staff.

My husband and I have been visiting The Lansdowne for many years and have never, in the slightest, been disappointed with the welcome, high expectations of standards and friendliness shown to their visitors. Walking into the foyer after a long, tiring journey from Yorkshire is like being back home.

It is a hotel for the mature resident - comfortable with excellent service. Facilities also excellent - immaculate room vaste bed and en suite very good. Very good choice for breakfast which was largely self service. A wide selection of lounges to sit in and view the world going by with excellent service for coffee/afternoon tea. A bar open over lunch and evening serving a wide choice of hot and cold food - no lunch served in restaurant. An excellent menu for dinner in the evening. No canned music so peaceful.Good offers in winter. Will be staying again within a month. Parking is limited to on road parking opposite which you have to pay for unless you have a disable badge. All hotels in sea front have this problem

Good location, lovely sea views. The room was warm, clean and had a very comfortable bed. Food was excellent and dinner very good value for money. We found the staff to be very friendly, however the hotel is more for older people.Would definitely stay again as it is in such a good location;close to seafront, shops and theatres. The room my mum was originally put in was in need of updating. Rather musty smell and had the look of a room in a nursing home. She asked to change, and was given a lovely room.

Upgraded on arrival, so a little prejudiced! Reception very friendly; room 312 (Superior) superb with twin aspect sea views; dinner and breakfast were very good in an extremely pleasant dining room. The Lansdowne is also situated on the quieter west side of the beach, although this does mean a ten minute walk into town - well worth it! We have stayed at a number of seafront hotels in Eastbourne, and relative to the others, this was oustanding, although obviously more expensive than some. Nothing to dislike on this experience.

Classic hotel for discerning customers that is very well maintained with a generous number of comfortable lounge areas. All spotlessly clean. Sea views are excellent. Very high ceilings on first floor. Kingsize bed in our seaview room was extremely comfortable. Good choice of meals that can be brought to your room in less than half an hour. Plenty of hot water. Large kettle in room. Staff pleasant enough given this is a large hotel. Genuine off peak rates and single rooms. 'Lazy lie-in' option to 5pm for £20. In every respect this is really a 4star hotel. Only very minor faults we found were the shower curtain sticking to you in a modest sized bath and the front door was a bit stiff. Bear in mind that if you choose a seaview room you will have some minor traffic noise but it is a trade off worth having.

We were in quite a large group and the hotel was spacious. Rooms were ok, breakfast was ok although not very warm. I would go back there. There was nothing I would say was bad about the hotel. Apart from lack of staff which could be a bit infuriating at times.

Friendly staff. Good value - as full English breakfast was included. Fresh coffee served in individual coffee pot. Quaint furnishing and design A labyrinth. Old furniture - with old fashioned decor in bedrooms - looks like your grans. Photo showed modern bedrooms but actually it was v old fashioned with old fittings - the newest thing in there was the tv. The bathroom was windy, the shower fitting and head poor.

Charming hotel - reminiscent of by-gone times when hotels were calm and spacious (admittedly not many other residents when we stayed). Lots of public spaces on ground floor and comfortable sofas etc. Had a meal in a very nice bar - but football on tv spoiled this a little.

Great location - fantastic sea view. We were lucky as we has a good sized refurbished room - large comfy bed but it was the view that made it. Stunning! The refurbished room was large but all the furniture except the bed was old and had seen better days. New carpet -great but why oh why didn't they lay new flooring beneath it. The floors squeaked all the time and particularly at night, very difficult to sleep through. Also the sound proofing between rooms was exceptionally poor - I heard conversations from rooms above, below and beside, and more...... Public areas were very tired and old fashioned. Would we go back again - not unless they change some fundementals.....

Staff were helpful in getting taxis promptly for us. Food for breakfast was very good . Only one criticsm the meal at night could have been hotter and served on a plate which had been warmed and not a cold plate.
