the mattress smelled like pee!!! it had no mattress protector. just disgusting!
Friendliness of staff. Good location.
Lack of breakfast. Lighting could be better.
Very clean, fast free wifi connection, very helpful staff.
Location and price
The friendly staff / cleanliness of my room .
Nothing to complain about .
Good descriptions of rooms with pictures on the booking info, so knew what to expect. Great location.
Fastest wifi connection i have ever used in this type of place and it was free. Nothing fancy but really what it says on the tin, kind staff.
Cheap compared to other Cambridge accommodation, good location, friendly staff, efficient, bike hire available, very clean except for the shared bathroom which got grubby even though clearly cleaned every day.
Noise travels, bathroom seemed to be shared with quite a few people.
Bathroom facilities needed a good clean. Accommodation needed some tlc.
Convenient location. Free wi-Fi. Lovely staff. Clean bedding and towels. Good shower pressure.
Poor state of cleanliness in bathroom. Broken toilet seat and no cold water in the basin. Everywhere needs a redec.
Kindness of the hosts
They did not clean the room on the first night at all, not even added toilet paper, cleaned the tea cups or made the beds. They did it once we complained, but the outcome of this cleaning was clearly rushy and not well done.
Really nice clean comfortable room and friendly service.
Looks a bit worse for wear from the outside - could do with a lick of paint.
No Breakfast (we were aware of this),No reception.Stayed two nights-no service to room even to empty bin.Have to contact them to get in.
The price of one night in a double room is the major selling point of Lantern House. The location, though not close to the city center, is still convenient with the local buses. There's even a convenient store nearby. The room was decently clean and the WIFI access worked perfectly.
The staff quasi-absence throughout the whole stay. I know it's not a hotel but the owner seems to spend the least time as possible in his property... Sound isolation was not very good. I could easily hear footsteps outside my room. Maybe some renovations should be made for the faucet and the shower. The whole thing was not very attrative.
Location and price
Staff (lack off) and organisation (too much self-service).
The location was great and the room was lovely and cool despite the very warm weather. Friendly staff and the self check in was useful.
I couldn't understand why my asthma was so bad, but we moved a bed and it had obviously not been vacuumed underneath for a very long time. They were very strict with towels and we had constant reminders to be careful with them which I found quite rude.
Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. Towels were very nice
No staff when we arrived, had to wait 1 hour for him to drive there, in the rain, fortunately another guest took pity on us and let us in the building.
Friendly welcome and car parking facility
Good location, clean, very (!) soft towels and wifi works perfect. Nice touch that there are cookies/tea/coffee in the room.
Very noisy, my room was on the ground floor and I woke up every single time someone entered the building. Windows do not have a safety lock so everyone can just enter the room from outside. The owner is just not around, there is a number to call but if your phone does not work (as mine) you cannot contact anyone. Poor quility of beds and tv remote does not work (which I couldn't report because there was no one around). So overall this accommodation is just too pricy for what you get.
cheap, clean room and comfortable bed
sharing toilet and shower with several other rooms; lack of soap in room; no face to face contact with staff felt rather impersonal
The rooms are ok but not kept clean. We had a room on ground level, it was very noisy.
The owner or manager, i don't know which, is diagreeable. No one opened the door. After having called the housekeeper let us in. A few minutes later a man asked us to pay wothout even saying hello or presenting himself: when we complained about dirty sheets (stains of all sorts, hair etc.),he didn't say sorry, but insisted on them being clean. They are looking for new management staff. Hopefully it will ger better then. The hotel is quite nice but at the moment dirty with bossy disagreeable staff.
cramped attic room
Clean and warm house. Bicycles could be rented for tourism
great location 15 min walk downtown, free parking, excellent wifi and staff attention. Confortable bed, good room and bathroom.
very nice and organized hotel staff and a clean, tidy, cosy, and comfortable hotel with good facilities offering good value for the money
it was not possible to open the only window in the room at night during hot weather because it has no protection bars and anyone can easily enter the room and steel what he wants. rooms in higher floors I think they may be safer.
