Close to the town whilst far enough out
- Size of the room is very big, big wardrobe, big bathroom, big table. - Its very clean of the room with coffee and tea bag served.
- Its very far from the train station and have no direct bus to go to the station. It is not located closely to the city centre as well, its quiet quiet in the evening. - I have seen the host only once while check in through-out my stay. - I don't feel very safe staying there at the beginning, as my room is located on the ground floor just next to the aisle to the back of the house. There are always people walking around, feeling they can easily jump into my room.
There were a warm welcoming, the room were clean and tidy and the stay was comfortable.
Best value for this location, helpful staff, clean room and fast internet. Excellent.
the mattress smelled like pee!!! it had no mattress protector. just disgusting!
The staff was helpfull, the wifi was excellent and lanternhouse was well situated.
They charched extra for the use of our creditcard, this information was not on booking.com. The room was a bit depressing, and poorly furnished. Everything worked but there was no luxury at all. It was not in balance with the price.
The b&b was located about 10 mins by bicycle to the town centre. Wi-fi worked well. Rooms were quiet at night, which is to be expected.
The room was filthy. Thick dust and dirty carpets. Shower was capricious at best. Could never get the hot and cold water to mix right. Toilet was poorly situated right next to the door, so my legs were sticking out while I sat on the throne. Toilet barely flushed. Daytime renovations were being carried out on the second floor. Owner's child was crying and making a noise near the room. My room had barely any sunlight. Felt dank and depressing. Also, there were no convenient accessible power points for laptop, hairdryer etc. Finally, very disappointing and rude to have the owner's wife come into the room while I was still in bed. Not a good look. Especially after I was told that the owners weren't allowed to enter only if the room was requested to be cleaned. It makes me wonder why she wanted to enter the room in the first place. Very suspicious. Honestly, for the price it just wasn't worth it. Best to pay a little extra for a hotel. Very disappointing.
Friendliness of staff. Good location.
Lack of breakfast. Lighting could be better.
Very clean, fast free wifi connection, very helpful staff.
Location and price
The friendly staff / cleanliness of my room .
Nothing to complain about .
Good descriptions of rooms with pictures on the booking info, so knew what to expect. Great location.
Fastest wifi connection i have ever used in this type of place and it was free. Nothing fancy but really what it says on the tin, kind staff.
Cheap compared to other Cambridge accommodation, good location, friendly staff, efficient, bike hire available, very clean except for the shared bathroom which got grubby even though clearly cleaned every day.
Noise travels, bathroom seemed to be shared with quite a few people.
Bathroom facilities needed a good clean. Accommodation needed some tlc.
Convenient location. Free wi-Fi. Lovely staff. Clean bedding and towels. Good shower pressure.
Poor state of cleanliness in bathroom. Broken toilet seat and no cold water in the basin. Everywhere needs a redec.
Kindness of the hosts
They did not clean the room on the first night at all, not even added toilet paper, cleaned the tea cups or made the beds. They did it once we complained, but the outcome of this cleaning was clearly rushy and not well done.
Really nice clean comfortable room and friendly service.
Looks a bit worse for wear from the outside - could do with a lick of paint.
No Breakfast (we were aware of this),No reception.Stayed two nights-no service to room even to empty bin.Have to contact them to get in.
The price of one night in a double room is the major selling point of Lantern House. The location, though not close to the city center, is still convenient with the local buses. There's even a convenient store nearby. The room was decently clean and the WIFI access worked perfectly.
The staff quasi-absence throughout the whole stay. I know it's not a hotel but the owner seems to spend the least time as possible in his property... Sound isolation was not very good. I could easily hear footsteps outside my room. Maybe some renovations should be made for the faucet and the shower. The whole thing was not very attrative.
Location and price
Staff (lack off) and organisation (too much self-service).
The location was great and the room was lovely and cool despite the very warm weather. Friendly staff and the self check in was useful.
I couldn't understand why my asthma was so bad, but we moved a bed and it had obviously not been vacuumed underneath for a very long time. They were very strict with towels and we had constant reminders to be careful with them which I found quite rude.
Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. Towels were very nice
No staff when we arrived, had to wait 1 hour for him to drive there, in the rain, fortunately another guest took pity on us and let us in the building.
Friendly welcome and car parking facility
Good location, clean, very (!) soft towels and wifi works perfect. Nice touch that there are cookies/tea/coffee in the room.
Very noisy, my room was on the ground floor and I woke up every single time someone entered the building. Windows do not have a safety lock so everyone can just enter the room from outside. The owner is just not around, there is a number to call but if your phone does not work (as mine) you cannot contact anyone. Poor quility of beds and tv remote does not work (which I couldn't report because there was no one around). So overall this accommodation is just too pricy for what you get.
