Lantern House174, Chesterton Road, Cambridge, CB41DA (Show map)
Good,
Score from 146 reviews
“ It was real close to supermarkets and it only took me 30 minutes on foot to reach Churchill college where my interview was being held at the time. It was great to check out the university town before and after the interview. I can only recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants to stay for a couple of days. Hospitality tray in the room with tea (even a kettle) and coffee and ginger cookies was totally awesome. ”

Budapest

Staff is friendly Clean rooms Price is quite high for a bed and no en-suite (but that's the case for most Cambridge accommodation) Location is a bit far from city center

Location was great, handy to walk or bus into town. The rooms and facilities were pretty basic, but the advert clearly states what you get, so you get what you pay for, Cambridge accomodation is expensive! They also let us park there during the next day after we had checked out which was great! Wasn't the cleanest and a little tired.

It was clean Incredible noisy place. Smashing doors, shaking walls and ceiling each time some walked. Very loud neighbors and thin walls. Make sure you get your room on the top floor. Sorry, but never again this place.

Convenient location on ring-road. Bedroom carpet not vacuumed as thoroughly as I would expect. There were hairs and particles of grit on the carpet outside the en-suite. My only other quibble is that, following years of experience using budget accommodation, I consider it over-priced for a guest house that doesn't offer breakfast.

It was close to Cambrige and had decent restaurants/grocery stores within walking distance. If one is visiting Cambridge for a day or two and cannot find rooms at Cambridge, it would be a decent place for budget travellers. Nothing really but there was no one in the front desk and coffee/tea was not replenished on a day to day basis.

First and foremost, we liked the staff: met us a guy named Sebastian who was very helpful during the whole stay. He helped us carry the luggage to the upper floor where we stayed, gave us good advises and even agreed to store our luggage after check-out time. The room was a bit small but very neat, with tea, coffee, biscuits and all the needed facilities, which were all clean and in a good condition. Another thing that we liked was the fact that they enter your room and clean only if you ask them to by leaving the suitable flyer outside the room. Otherwise your privacy, thus giving you control over who is entering the room.

Friendly staff, nice, clean room, excellent location near river and within walking distance to Chesterton village and Cambridge town centres. The day prior to my check-in I received a slightly bizarre email about reading my booking (in capitals) properly, signed by The Manager. Based on that, and some reviews I had read I was mentally prepared to meet some kind of real-life Basil Fawlty, but fortunately the staff were nothing like that. The only real (but minor) issue was that the (Freeview) TV reception was clearly on the flaky side.
