Location and atmosfere
I loved the entire setting. I travelled here from South Africa and was amazed at how beautiful it was. Quaint buildings, lovely setting.
the spa is very nice also gym is good
Rooms could do with a bit of updating
Buffet Breakfast general facilities
Bed not a king size room was cold on arrival but warmed up by morning
The facilities were very good. Smashing breakfast. The thermal suite was divine.
The booking with reception via booking.com stated it was just 2 adults , when in fact there were also 2 kids- had to chase to get bed linen etc. Not great when all you want is to get kids settled after a days travel.
1. Hotel is well situated. 2. Staff helpful but clearly not enough of them. 3. Didn't use spa but facilities looked good.
1. Breakfast was not good experience. All plates and cups etc were not smooth as if the dishwasher had not cleaned them properly, both days. 2. Big queues on Sunday with lots of complaints as people waited to be seated and for food. 3. Rooms and most areas look tired and need of upgrading. 4. Cost of drinks. 5. External noise e.g. running water from outside features at night. Could be a really great hotel but needs management to focus on many small things that all add to making the stay average rather than good.
The place was lovely.
No towels in the bathroom, and the phone to complain about this didn't work, I had to wasley to reception to order room service, and no apology when I did complain about this.
nice and quiet
Facilities are good if you want have time to use the Spa.
Reception staff not friendly. Very expensive for what it is if you just want a room. Not a great location, not near very much.
Location is pretty
We arrived to check in only to find one person on reception and a full wedding party and guests also doing the same. No help was given to the under pressure receptionist who was very pleasant even under strain. The complex looks like a cross between medieval and or a ranch style:-/ it's like a theme park without the rides. The rooms on the other hand are all old looking with dark wood furniture chintzy curtains, all just in need of some money throwing at it, one bath towel to share , no biscuits with the tea and coffee either and we had paid £79 room only! We headed to the main bar leant on the bar and struggled to unstick my now soiled shirt from a bar that could not have been cleaned in a week, again understaffed but pleasant when in attendance. Cocktail hour seemed a good ideas until you asked for cocktails where the Integral ingredients ie no mint for a Mojito is missing and this is just the start of the evening, again the decor is poor and outdated yet they seem to want to push the place as a high class spa! I'm afraid it fails and really needs money spending on it to take it from the seventies to modern day standards to even compete. It may get full due to it's ability to cope with high volume but how long before people start saying "that muck under the carpet is creating a noticeable lump?" I think it has.
friendly staff food spa and facilities spacious room
I like every thing about the hotel plus spa. What makes it for me is the Hydro pool
The un-safeness of outside the grounds it was very frightening.
Excellent breakfast with attentive staff.
Having stayed at the hotel some years ago, it is now very tired & in need of some TLC (ie refurbishment in many areas including bedrooms particularly the noisy bathroom extraction fans that can be heard in all neighbouring rooms)
The ambiance, the mix of old and new - although the village was closed while we were there. Helpful staff.
No computer room for use of guests - no possibility to print out documents, etc. No e-printers - so I had to send documents by email to hotel address for staff to print out. Maintenance/TLC needed in older parts of building - loose handrails, old scratched paint. Nothing serious, but detracts from image.
Wallpaper peeling and carpets lifting. Badly needs money spent.
- Fantastic room service - Excellent swimming pool, gym and spa with great facilities - Fantastic spa facilities - Excellent staff - Fresh towels and bed sheets - Great breakfast - Great bar and food - Lovely village shops
- Sometimes dishes with leftover food left outside the room by guests were not picked up promptly which resulted in producing a bit of stale stench in the aisles. - Restaurant food could be a bit more economical.
Great staff, had a lovely if short stay.
Room good, bed comfortable.
The breakfast service was not good as we were not using the normal location. Next time I will book room only.
We really enjoyed the spa facilities
The pub wasn't open for meals
Staff friendly and helpful.
Food and beverages overpriced.
freezing cold shower in the morning old worn out decor and facilities in desperate need of investment
Attractive grounds Comfortable bed Friendly staff
Really good location with beautiful surroundings and spa
Staff were not in a hurry at all! We went to the bar where an employee was clearing tables and asked if anyone was serving drinks - we were told they would find someone to which they came back and said they weren't sure where everyone was and he worked in the restuarant not bar so couldn't help. Very odd!
Surprising amount of facilities Great pool and spa Good food at the restaurant
No air con in room meant room was too hot to sleep
Friendly staff in all departments Food in restaurant and service excellent The 'village square' added to the stay we did not realise this when we booked - should be advertised more. Staff in all shops excellent. Hairdressers fitted my wife in at short notice - excellent friendly service
No air conditioning in the room which we did not realise at time of booking
