Charming house & Geoff and Alex took great trouble to make my stay comfortable with a warm welcome on arrival and attention to every detail. Spotlessly clean everywhere, comfy bed and a HUGE breakfast. Great B&B with delightful hosts, good value and I'm very happy to recommend.

Alex and Jeff were friendly and welcoming and ensured I knew how everything worked and didn't make me feel it would be a nuisance if I needed to ask for help. This was particularly appreciated on my journey as it was a long haul and there were hold ups but they were so understanding and immediately I spoke with them the tension disappeared. Attention to detail. Great recommendation of place for an evening meal. Lovely breakfast with as much produce as possible locally sourced and home made.

Alex and Jeff are great hosts, and Bramble and Holly are very entertaining! Our room was very comfortable, and the food was great. The tea and scones were greatly appreciated after a long day of walking!! My wife felt very spoilt on her 40th birthday. Laurel House is a great base for exploring the Eden Valley on foot and by car.

Laurel House was a homey, quiet and friendly place to relax and enjoy the surrounding area including the Lake District. The main draw is the quiet location and attentive hosts. Alex and Jeff were more than gracious and generous with their home. I felt very welcome and free to do what I wanted while staying there. The accommodations were modern, new, well maintained and spacious by English hotel standards. I will go back if I have a chance.

Everything about the stay was delightful. From arriving with a warm welcome to recommendations for food that evening, Alex and Jeff were very helpful and polite in everything they did. One particular aspect that stands out in the breakfast, a stunning selection of everything you could ever wish for! Home made bread and scones with homemade jam, lovely! The room that me and my girlfriend stayed in was expected of somewhere of this calibre, very clean, very comfortable and a nice place to be. Alex and Jeff were also very helpful with ideas for what we could do the next day in the local area, a massive aid as we weren't quite sure what to do. Overall a fantastic stay and would love to go again if the opportunity arises!

We were welcomed with tea and scones. The atmosphere was very warm and friendly. Our room was very comfortable. Excellent breakfast, will certainly stay again if the opportunity arises.

Everything! I was welcomed with warm homemade scones and conserves by the lovely hosts. The room is amazingly comfortable and clean. Everything is of absolute great quality. The breakfast was delicious, everything was fresh and locally sourced. Big thumbs up for Jeff's fresh bread. I wish I had more words to describe how amazing this place is, I guess you will just need to come over and see it.

Wonderful hosts, lovely room and great food! Jeff and Alex were very welcoming, and gave us an amazing restaurant recommendation for just down the road (as well as sorting out the table booking for us). They also had plenty of local walk guides and maps to help us plan a day out, and even photocopied these for us so we could take them with us. I got the impression that nothing would be too much trouble for them. We'd definitely stay here again next time we're back in that part of the country.

Room and food excellent

The male owner was hovering about all the time, felt that you where been watched all the time. My wife who is a smoker went outside for a smoke but was accused of smoking in the room and we felt uineasy, you got the feeling that smokers are not welcome.

Our stay at Laurel House was wonderful. Alex and Jeff are very thoughtful, caring and interested hosts. Every wish is catered for. We really appreciated the picnic hamper when we arrived back to our car cold and wind-swept after visiting Hadrian's Wall. If you love food, this is the place for you. Great meals both at Mrs Miller's Tearooms and at the Black Swan. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms beautifully appointed.

A beautiful house with excellent hosts for which nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was the best Full English we have had when staying at a b&B. Lovely spotless room with a really comfortable king size bed. Probably the best b&b we have stayed in!
