Wonderful hotel despite external appearances. Staff were in the main very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was excellent and great value for money. Breakfast (included in the rate) was one of the best we've come across, and we've stayed at a lot of hotels. Spa is very good value for money and health club facilities (including pool) are good. We were originally placed in a non-renovated room which, to be fair, was very clean and tidy but was old and tired. It was an initial disappointment given the photos and, therefore, an expectation of a newly renovated room. Notwithstanding this we were moved without fuss after raising the issue with reception.

The hotel is well situated in a country area but close to several major towns and within easy reach of the nec Very helpful and pleasant staff, responded quickly to requests, good sized bedrooms, comfy beds good decor .and good food. This is a large hotel the layout is widespread and a bit confusing, could do with a map in reception. No problem parking although hotel not full at our visit we would stay again Lack of fridge and safe in rooms not really a problem for one night stay but would be frustrating if there longer and the only lift is miles from reception

We were disappointed in the leisure facilities, certainly the pictures on the website are taken at a good angle! The quality of the gym equipment was poor, again I would be very disappointed if I had paid for membership to this facility.

The hotel was ideally located for everything that we needed. Gym facilities were fine. We didn't mind that there were kids in the pool - don't believe this is an issue that should be flagged as a negative. Our room was lovely too - great shower

Well laid out. Decor was very nice. Heating was very noisy in my room. Kept tripping over all the disabled adaptions in my room!

The reception area is very poor and and appears to be a one or Two star Hotel at check-in but once past that, the hotel is fine. There are many places to sit and relax in addition to an excellent spa and gym. The bar can sometimes be understaffed

I thought recent refurbishment of bedrooms was very good taste and comfortable. Lovely bed linen. Bathrooms and lighting very good...important for make up! Staff were very helpful and pleasant.good atmosphere. Carpets need to come up to scratch to standard of refurb. No instuction as to; reading switch under wall lights, remote for ipod docking system is on general remote...no info there and how to unplug in bathroom sink! Quality of breakfast good except for bacon...very undercooked and the poor toasting system...both too slow and too low, had to put bread through twice....then queues for the breakfast or breakfast going cold! Towards the end of service which due to the fact it being sunday most people came in to eat towards 10 most of the food had run out. Smoking area right by front reception...maybe relocate in open area by glass function room?

Ok good value but radiator was broken, boiling hot and nobody had a clue how to fix it. Bad nights sleep as a result. Late checkout of one hour requested and we were offered half an hour extra and even this was very hard work.

Staff were very accommodating and quick to sort out any issues that we might have had. The wrong room type had been allocated to us when we first arrived and they were very quick to rectify this. We also stayed over a weekend and there were two weddings on during this time but we were not disturbed at all by them even though the reception room was close to our room and there was no dip in service either as a result of them. Housekeeping staff were really lovely and helpful, a credit to the hotel. We also used the driving range with my 2 year old son and were made to feel really welcome, the pro even loaned my son a mini club and he had a ball so thanks for that too. There is no real negatives at all to our stay at the hotel other then to plead with the management to buy a new toaster for the breakfast room - even at its highest setting it took two cycles to get the toast actually toasted!!! A really minor point but would stop queues forming at busy breakfast times.
