The staff, especially bar and restaurant, were engaging, polite and helpful. We enjoyed the whole castle/ hotel experience. Our only slight criticism was that the bedroom was on the small side. However we would confirm that it was clean and tidy

The hotel was good and clean, in the right location and the food (breakfast) was enjoyable. the location was quiet and the bed comfortable. Paying the bill up-front, even before I had seen the room. this made me not want to spend extra money in the restaurant for dinner as I would have had to use my credit card again.

I was at my daughters wedding. The staff were very friendly and supportive towards a nervous father about to walk his daughter down the aisle and then give a speech! Especially June. She was lovely. Accommodation, food and service were excellent. Could have used more bar staff during the day though. I would recommend this venue to others. Thanks gor a fantastic weekend

Good sized room with comfortable bed. Usual facilities (tea, coffee, water, toiltetries etc) all provided. Great buffet breakfast with helpful service. Plenty of parking and well tended grounds. It is good wedding venue but guests were rather noisy - this will obviously change from booking to booking depending on guest list.

I have stayed at this hotel previously and have always found it to meet all my expectations. The staff are helpful and friendly, even remembering my drinks preference after 3 months. The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped. They have either a shower/bath or just a shower. The food is always presented well and breakfast is enough to fill the hungriest traveller. The menu is changed regularly and always offers choice including vegetarian options. During my 2 night stay there was 2 company christmas functions taking place. I drifted off to sleep to the mellow tunes of the 80s on both occasions. I was disturbed by the revellers returning to their respective bedrooms in the early hours. This is not a criticism more a reflection on the incidences. It was good to hear people laughing and giggling after what must have been a fantastic function. The quiet areas in the hotel are like an oasis, especially the one to the left of the entrance as you enter the hotel.

Beautiful castle and stunning setting. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Room 15 has a window just above the entrance for the hotel where people choose to smoke. The night we stayed a party was being held at the castle, we wanted an early night and a good night sleep. We were kept up till the small hours by noisy smokers and drunk people shouting at each other and calling taxis. Lovely hotel but needs a dedicated outside smoking area!!!

Looked good, location good, easy to find & friendly staff. Car park spaces not clear & no signage. No direction sign for Reception. Room allocated did not have view of Golf Course as told by receptionist. Decor tired needs updating, bath panel split and dirty appearance along bottom, broken tiles on floor, health hazard. Toilet very difficult to flushh, had to pump several times.Towels not fluffy as per online website & no hot water in morning to freshen up, Not informed of reason why no hot water until we hand in keys.

The building is attractive and it lies close to an interesting coastline good for those interested in birds. Access to the shoreline could be better! The interior is tired and does not match the promise of the exterior. The young bar and restaurant staff seem rather disorganised. The food in the restaurant is presented as fine dining but is mediocre, the restaurant service is good from the two more mature staff and comically bad by one of the young lads. At this price point good simple food would make more sense than over presented but poorly prepared plates. Or they should move up market, employ a better chef, train the staff and up the price. The bar is horrible. I had an undrinkable glass of red wine and when I suggested that the bottle had been open too long I was told that this was impossible as it came from a carton - and this for £5.40! When I checked out someone else's bar bill had appeared on my account! Lovely old building, could be good but isn't.

Looked good but didn't live up to its looks Couldn't believe it didn't have a Castle bar but instead an attempt at modernistic style that smelt of Salt and Vinegar

Good service and nice accommodation. Although, the location was inappropriate for someone who doesn't have own transportation (15 minutes by walk from the train station), it doesn't lessen the its value. It would be recommended to a group conference and family break.

I chose the holiday for a family ---birthday-linked reunion------the majority of us Wallasey-born ,now all much dispersed through the uk As a child Leasowe Castle had always seemed rather mysterious and even exciting to me so I wished to share a little ''adventure'' with my ''ain folk'' The ambience was just right for it ...

Pleasant rooms, looked inviting to sit and relax in the lounges, but realy didnt have time because we were visiting family nearby. Didnt warrant a formal complaint. The things not to our liking were that we could not open the windows, and there was no air conditioning to replace this, very dry air during the night. The single bed was very creaky when I moved, mainly coming from the headboard. This was in room 1. Breakfast was very good, apart from the cooked items being tepid, which spoilt the meal. Why not keep the covers on to keep the food warm.

This hotel is in very poor condition and needs a lot of work to bring to the standard they advertise as, I paid £113.00 for 1 night the hotel standards are know where near to justify this amount, overall the stay was worth £45.00 per night at the most very poor hotel.

Location was ideal for central Liverpool so I would suggest the hotel market itself better for cut price attendance at conferences. I think however that nice though it was there is a bigger commercial opportunity. It was a bit scruffy. Lacked for care and attention. It could be more of a boutique destination. A revamp might be in order. I can see the owners might be in a quandry with it's style. But with some thought the historic could be traded on and turned into a plus point. Generally staff were friendly and helpful and it was clean. And it was very reasonably priced. Just could do better. I would recommend it to others and if Labour returns (as I am sure they will) to Liverpool I would consider staying again. Good luck. Covered by the comments above.

“We were made to feel very welcome, the staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Breakfast was particularly good, excellent service and a wide variety of options on offer. Sadly as it was Sunday the restaurant was not serving but we were given plenty of choice nearby- would highly recommend The Boathouse.” Peter, Jackfield |
