that it was actually a castle, good value (very), goid bathroom.peaceful.
dinner option seemed expensive (didnt have it though)
Stayed in room 50. Absolutely great. We where there for a wedding party and sounded like we had the best room. Wonderful views, large room, lovely modern bathroom.
Breakfast service was none too great. Albeit very busy, service lacked a little and had to keep asking for various different things. Probably an off day. The quality of the food was however very good!
Sea views from a lot of the rooms
The old lift
location service and the welcome could not have been warmer shame you were fully booked for the next night
sadly because my other half was feeling hungry his dinner was too little (plenty for me-pud was excellent!!!! but he filled up on cider.....
Breakfast watress very attentive. Did her best. Poor value though.
After booking Bed and Breakfast for an agreed price. Ten pounds was added every day. Also another Ten Pounds a day for the view. The room was cold and Noisey with a wedding party below. The staff did not teplace the soap or shampoo after the first day. Room had wallpaper off walls and very run down. No nets or blinds for privacy. Lift defective
It was a great experience for my family to stay in the castle. The room was clean and spacious. King bed was big, however squeaky. We took the half-board option which includes dinner which we thought was superb. Breakfast was fine.
We had the ocean view room, however can't really see the ocean as there is a big golf court between the castle & the ocean. The 'castle' seem to conduct a lot of events. On the 1 night we stayed there were having a wedding party and the next day was an expo. The party went almost all night long it's really hard to get a good night sleep. The next day when you wake up it feels like you wake up in the midst of a convention centre.
Location. Peaceful. Lovely room overlooking golf course & sea. Very good food in the restaurant on our half board deal both evening & breakfast. Free parking & wifi (slowish)
The bar could do with a spruce up. There was reasonable choice & the price was OK but the atmosphere was completely non existent.
Friendly staff, it is a 'real hotel', slightly old fashioned with good facilities.
The building, the location on the beach. Facilities of an old fashioned hotel, a real hotel!
EXPENSIVE. NOT VALUE FOR MONEY. MORE EMPHASISE SPENT ON WEDDING GUESTS THAN HOTEL RESIDENTS.
The location and gardens were lovely The room wasnt to bad for a budget room but had I have had to pay the full price I would have probably left and asked for a refund.
Room was clean but shower head wouldnt stay up so had to hold it up to rinse hair etc, we were told to use the lift which was fine but when we got to our floor getting out of the lift was difficult as it was blocked with bags of bedding.
Rooms I used Breakfast Lunch Bar All staff I met
rain on the M6
staff where very good the room was passable nice building in good maintained grounds
bath shower room needs major updating as well as public areas hot breakfast from a buffet trolley leaves a lot to be desired especially at £10 a time
Fab location and very friendly staff A great place for a short visit to the Wirral
Comfortable beds Coffee making facilities in room Iron in room History and atmosphere of the Hotel Beautiful staircase, front sitting room with so much history Huge gardens and its not too close to traffic
shower over a very deep bath (mainly for 82 yo Mother) - was OK for me though
I loved the service and the location and the comfort
The view out on to the beach was lovely. The rooms were ideal with very comfortable beds. Breakfast was delicious with a big selection of hot and cold food. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The lift was very small, it was claustrophobic and that was just with my partner and I inside.
Building, grounds and little garden
The hotel was great, the staff were great, plenty of parking. Ideal location. Lovely modern room and bathroom. Lifts to all floors. Would of liked to try a breakfast but on a budget and no price list on website or in the in room menu.
We nearly cancelled at the last minute because there was £30 worth of add ons after we booked the room. Would be better if you could advise people of the extras on the website so they can work out the cost before they travelled. Booking.com blamed the hotel and visa versa so still clueless as to who was at fault. Just for the record though. It's £10 for pets which will be charged and not "may be" charged as it says on the site and it's £10 charge for sea view which also has no mention on the website.
This is a great looking venue with character filled public areas and comfortable accommodation. The family team try hard to make your stay more luxurious and as welcoming as they can and doing a good job. Food reasonably priced but choice a bit limited.
Felt a little isolated if you desire hoards of people coming and going. The bathrooms need an overhaul but are perfectly functional.
Everything Overpriced rooms not up to the standard you would expect for the price. If the manager reads this review go and look at room 8 you will see what I mean. Food was a disgrace and had to be sent back the menu had 3 starters 3 mains 2 of the starters were chicken and salmon 1 of the mains was salmon big choice there. If you go here and you like a drink take plenty of money you will need it.
We came with our 5month old baby and Family for 2 nights. Both nights There was wedding and so loud we had to change room in the middle of the night.Room was so small we had to place chair outside to accommodate baby cot.Not to mention we got both rooms with 2 seperate single beds!! Next day I asked receptionist if I can iron my shirt outside my room as didn't want to disturb sleeping baby and husband. The answer was there is iron in my room.Really disappointing stuff with no imagination. Bkf was very nice though so was bkf stuff. Nice location but 2sleepless nights and not helpful stuff is all I remember.Sorry
Beautiful location Staff friendly Quality towels
Horrible smell from bathroom (like cats). Tired room needs refurbishment. Slow service in bar Lift wasn't working so had to drag suitcase up two long flights Dreadful old lumpy foam pillows
When we arrived at 10 pm we couldnt see hotel from road. There needs to be a sign at entrance from road for those who arent familiar with area.Car park was also unlit & wasnt easy to orientate parking of car. There should be a smoking room as it is unpleasant to walk past smokers right outside entrance to hotel.
Sorry I have written in wrong box above. We liked the comfortable beds & view from our room no.6 of River Mersey.
