Le Chateau Japonais2 Linton Road, TN34 1TN Hastings (Show map) Good, Score from 62 reviews“it was diffrent thats why we went over all very good”
Elaine,
Tonbridge
This unique French-Japanese guesthouse is family-run, cozy and homey, about a 10 minute walk from the center of town and 15 minutes from Hastings Beach. The fun and relaxed Le Chateau Japonais offers indulgent, deep Jacuzzi baths in each room's private bathroom. There is an outdoor, heated Japanese-style spa pool (Rotenburo), made of natural river rocks. At night you can float and relax in the warm water, with a view of the stars. Beauport Park Golf Course, in St Leonards-on-Sea, and Sedlescombe Golf Club are less than 10 minutes from the guesthouse. Hotel Rooms: 7

I had high expectations given the positive reviews. In reality however, and rather unfortunately, its nothing more than a rather basic guest house with a loo that blows hot air and a deep (but not broad) bubble bath. The furnishing were tired, paint chipped form the walls, a very basic TV with freeview and little contact from the management who simply took payment when I arrived and told me to see myself out - a very lazy approach to managing a boutique B&B/ Hotel. At £99 without breakfast its was both dissapointing and expensive compared to better options nearby.

It has the most unique and wonderful bathroom. The Japonese toilet is very quirky and the jacuzzi in the bathroom a real bonus. It's a delightful little budget room. There is a little heated plunge pool in the garden but we didn't have time to go in. It's good for bikes too as everyone has a backdoor key and separate entrance to their room through the back patio/garden which is a great storage facility off the road. The staff were really polite, although we didn't see them much after that as we didn't stay for breakfast and they pretty much left us to it with no formal checkout. Lastly, there were good tea/coffee/hot chocolate facilities as well. It would have been nice to stay for breakfast but £7 each seems a bit steep for a budget hotel - especially when you're so close to town. It's also near the not so nice new town rather than the Old Town which is the nicer place to go for dinner and drinks - having said that it was a good to stroll along the beachfront on the way.

The friendly staff and the excellent facilities. The bed was extremely comfortable. Check in (4 o'clock) is too late. I first arrived at mid day to see if I could leave my bag there but there was nobody in.

The facilities are fantastic. The swimming pool was the right temperature, the Jacuzzi bath was very good, the toilet was a special one from Japan, with a heated seat and bidet built in. The bed was a bit small for a double, but comfy to lay on. The room was nicely decorated and that also goes for the rest of the building. I was lucky enough to get a good deal at Le Chateau Japonais. There are not many bad things I could say. The only issues that I could think of that the changing/shower rooms by the swimming pool could do with a spruce up. That is about it. I would think the price of a double usually would cost between £70 & £90 at this hotel. Although the price I got was a lot cheaper because of a "lucky" fault on booking.com. Oh they could use a bigger sign, or at least one that is easier to see, rather then just a plaque on the front door.

The room was very stylish, the bed was really confortable, the bathroom was absolutely super. Really enjoyed the jacuzzi. The outdoor pool was really super too. If I return to this area I would definitely try to book this hotel again. It did not effect anyone in my party but the stairs up to the door could be a problem for some guests. I cannot remember these being mentioned when booking.

Japanese toilet seat. The fact that we had booked the superior room & telephoned them before we left to confirm that we had the superior room & was told yes. On arrival told there had been a mix up and the only room available was a small twin bedded room. Felt cheated & let down. Staff bad at handling the situation

This is a conundrum - Situated on a corner we passed it twice! A guest house trying to be a Hotel - This is really an expensive bed and breakfast, without the breakfast. We stayed in the top floor superior room with Japanese jacuzzi which is very well presented but over priced. If you order breakfast (extra cost) then get there early as once buffet style is gone there is no top up!

The outdoor pool & spa baths The room wasn't clean - dust on the sides and the bed sheets seemed dusty (found hairs) too. As we booked the superior room, I thought it would be of higher quality (I have stayed in one of the standard rooms on a previous occasion). I do feel that the £68 was too high a price for the night, especially when it didn't include breakfast.

On arrival have faith, first appearances are deceiving. We booked this 'hotel' on line after 3 attempts at trying to phone but to no avail. We were fascinated by the pictures of japanese toilets, jacuzzis and the lure of the heated pool out back where we could 'make new friends. If you can spot the sign on the door first go, then well done. The facade leaves one feeling one has made a massive error in booking a room - be brave, walk the weedy steps , ring the bell and lo..... A wonderfully friendly face appears, bounces up the stairs leading you to a charming little bedroom serviced by the most extraordinary loo I have ever had the fortune (for pure entertainment value) to sit on and very comfortable beds. Parking rules and charges eliminates any chance of a lie in. 9Am permit holders only. This is not a hotel or a b&b, it is a 'b' ie, no breakfast but then as one has to move the car by 9 it seems fairly pointless to offer breakfast anyway unless one is an early riser. Being woken by seagulls I accept staying by the sea but 2pm stomping up the uncarpeted wooden stairs next to our room was boring - not sure why this was necessary.I Am ticking the recommend box below because this place is a bit weird and quirky - if you want normality with cornflakes it not for you.

The jacuzzi bath in our supreme room was excellent. It took 1.5 hrs to fill so you can imagine how big it was. My partner and I are not in the petite catergory and we felt V. relaxed and enjoyed our soak. Front of house were V. friendly and welcoming, but difficult to get hold of them to ask where nearest off licence was 2 hrs after our arrival, they did not answer the intercom located on the hallway. Room v tidy and clean, bedspread a bit aged and worn but sheets underneath clean and fresh. Pool in back V. nice and relaxing. Not sure how it is heated and intrigued to know how. Surrounded my gorgeous bamboo plants, complete privacy. Wakl to pool very bizarre however!!! This hotel was very bizarre. Most parts were lovely, but you can't help but think it had been put together on the cheap. Our supreme room was lovely. Our friends room was odd! The "wet room" had a wooden back door and cotton blind at the wooden window frame (need I say more) covered in mold spores. Their shower wall was built from those clear glass blocks around a wooden frame with nails sticking out of the top. The decor was aged and tacky. To get to the pool you must walk out the hotel front door, around the side, through a gate, passed the back doors to the standard rooms passed a building site through a totally tacky, odd shed thing (looks like a sauna, but far from it) passed an odd changing room, with no door with wires hanging out the wall. You then enter into this gorgeous garden surrounded by bamboo and lovely pool. Such a shame the hotel and pool quality surroundings do not match.

Toilet seat The hotel was appalling, we were given two rooms with no windows, the adjoining room that the children were in had no back exit and the door adjoining did not have a handle. In terms of fire safety I was not happy with this. The smell in the room had been masked, however on the second day it stank of musk, I am asthmatic and struggled with breathing, needing to take ventolin throughout the noght. The proprietors asked for payment up front so there was no possibility to move or we would have. There was no provision to have breakfast as they did not have kitchen facilities. On the day we moved out we could not find the proprietors were nowhere to be found, we had to leave a key on a table.
