Rooms clean (if utilitarian), location good for Castell Coch and National Museum, desk staff friendly & helpful and early check-in allowed us to change for wedding rather than travel in wedding attire. Breakfast food exceeded our expectations given the budget price of the hotel Table clearance at breakfast poor, we came down at 9;30, most of dining room unoccupied at that time but tables not cleared. We waited for a table to be set for us. This was next to the clearing station - we asked to be seated elsewhere - who wants to sit by an open door listening and watching plates being scraped off, with staff squeezing past! You should seriously look at the arrangements for clearing tables the current method is unsightly, disruptive and hopelessly inefficient involving multiple handling of crockery and waste in a public area. I would have thought that staff would have had the nouse to seat customers away from this area whenever possible. Also, at 9:30am there were only 2 glasses for fruit juice and very little fruit juice available, only 3 ceral bowls (one of which was dirty) and very little milk available - surely a full range of these basic items should be available throughout the meal session - staff supplied the missing items but the point is that they should not need to be prompted! It may be a budget hotel but these issues are not about cost they are about staff being interested in delivering the Hotel's aims.

Friendly staff, free parking, room basic, but comfortable enough. Good breakfast and altogether good value. For some reason I couldn't get onto the free wifi in my room. Strange, enourmous bar/lounge/reception/restaurant all in one space, which looked part pub, part social club with gambling programmes up on the wide screen TV. Generally a very tired and dated looking interior in need of modernisation!

some minor improvements to restaurant but no a la carte, prices have dropped back down to a sensible level for the quality of hotel, has started to creep up soulless restaurant, staff at dinner were ok but lack of more interesting menu was a minus. Breakfast staff seemed indifferent but quick to clear tables, lack of training I feel. The Lounge/bar/ public area needs to split off from the restaurant as noisy people or kids disrupt the peace when you want it after a busy day

Breakfast was good ( Week-end ) Staff were friendly and welcoming. As we needed to be near North Cardiff the location was good for us. Despite the best efforts of the staff, this hotel is not for leisure visitors. The decor is very outdated and dull, many fixtures appear to be on their last legs, E.G.toilet cistern in our room, threadbare towels, lift buttons alarmingly worn. For the sake of a clearly hard- working staff this hotel needs the owners to give it time, money and considerable tlc in order to make it a hotel which will attract a wider range of visitors.

Friendly staff, good size comfortable bed Tired looking rooms, wallpaper coming away. Heater battered and noisy on the wall. Room position opposite the lift - noisy(asked to move no rooms). Glad it was only for 2 nights. Would not use this group again. Travelodge rooms are in better condition than this one

Love the pool table friendly staff also room was very nice. There was a stag do going on at the hotel it was late and they where very loud we did ring reception to ask them if they can get them to be a bit more quieter which they did. However i think people should know before they book a room with yourself if you have a wedding going on as we just wanted a quiet stay and if we new you had a wedding going on we would not of booked a room.

The staff. The General Manager (Gerry) and/or Neil were often present to ensure that the needs of our group of 8 "mature gentlemen" were catered for. All the staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. We all enjoyed the breakfast and dinner experiences. Thanks to the staff for helping to make a great rugby weekend - despite the result of the big match! We'll be back!

Clean room , but no hotel atmosphere in the bar or dining room, with very few other guest, basically a waste of its excellent location Needs a refurbishment and you know when you should have spent another £20 on another hotel when you share breakfast area with guys in hi viz jackets and boots. Definately not for a holiday.

Price and convenience for our particular needs. Slack attitude of staff, cleared glasses from tables without wiping down = dirty tables. Off duty staff playing pool and accessing kitchen facilities. (I'm assuming they were off duty). Poor food quality, of which we complained at the time.

Staff were friendly, room ok if a little dated Elevator / lift out of action - we were on the second floor and a long way off the stairs. A note was attached to all panels informing guests that 'parts have been ordered'- which in this day and age is a joke. Food prices weren't great - 5-6 quid for a sandwhich, chicken sandwhich ala MacDonalds at 12 pounds. Which possibly explains the amount of pizza boxes and macdonalds wrappers in the bins outside. Breakfast was about the going rate for hotels close to motorways, but unlike a Premier or Travelodge - our 5 year old wouldn't have been able to eat free. Shame this guys - made the stay a little more difficult. Room had a door labelled 'Mini Bar' - but nothing behind the door. Oddness abounds.

The shower The lack of signage it took us nearly an hour to find the access road. The broken locking system on the windows opening out on to a flat roof ideal for a robber

Basically you get what you pay for. I thought that this hotel was value for money. Twin room with breakfast £64.00 The breakfast was good. Usual idiots outside the lobby smoking. Management allowing people in work clothes (I have nothing against work clothes whilst at work) to use the lounge area.
