The staff were excellent in all areas. Friendly, obliging, polite and attentive. The restaurant was good value for dinner and the food was delicious. They had a good selection of wines. The breakfast selection was good and everything was fresh. The bedrooms were a very good size. The whole hotel is clean and contemporary but maintains a relaxed and comfortable feel. It was very clean everywhere and ideal location for getting around St Helier. A short walk into the town centre or along to Elizabeth Castle. The showers were rubbish. At least one of us would enjoy(!) being alternately scalded and frozen as the water temperature changed suddenly. Also (and this is something most accommodation is guilty of) summer quilts would have been good. So you don't throw it off in the middle of the night because you're baking and then wake up cold! It wasn't even especially warm while we were there but the quilts were too much. A lighter quilt with a spare blanket, just in case, would have been preferable. The double bed was a bit small and we were grateful for the spare single. I've chosen rate as our reason for staying at the Hampshire but it was a combination of location, facilities and rate. And, nothing to do with the hotel, but the local one way system, if you are unfortunate enough to be driving there, takes a little getting used to! Especially when they close roads... But nothing's very far so once the car's parked, legs come in very useful with the excellent local map. The sausages at breakfast weren’t very nice and it would have been good to have a fried egg with a soft yolk. At the bar there was no choice of ales to drink - though that seemed the same elsewhere. But minor niggles really.

Very friendly and helpful staff making truly all efforts to satisfy our requests and demands. Finally also extremely helpful in searching and booking an alternative hotel after the solely first night of pre-booked several ones. Extreme difference between Standard Rooms and Superior or Premier Rooms respectively. Our Standard Twin Room was very noisy far into the night from the the kitchen and likewise early in the morning due to constructions works in the road (which was beyond Hampshire's accountability). The bathroom of our first room was no more than a small oblong with toilet at one end and shower at the other whereby the sink was in the main bedroom. The bathroom's size of the second Standard Twin Room was okay however the water changed constantly from cold to hot when taking a shower. Both rooms were a little dated and the foamed pillows hard and badly unpleasing.

Our twin room was very small it was quite comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the large lounge area in the Hampshire along with pleasant outdoor terrace and small pool. The unpredictable weather allowed us one lovely afternoon sunning ourselves by the pool - lovely! Staff were really nice and helpful, giving us advice about restaurants and recommending things to do. Breakfast seemed a bit haphazard on occasion, food and plates ran out quickly and took a while to replenish. We and a couple of other guests were told very abruptly on one occasion to go and wait in the lounge until tables were ready, even though the restaurant was half-empty. It often seemed they didn't expect all their guests to arrive for breakfast, so would recommend getting there early!

I thought the staff ( in the bar and dining room) were absolutely brilliant! They were all so professional, and attentive without being intrusive,I don't think any of them would be out of place in a 5star hotel. They were unfailingly polite, helpful and always looked immaculate. Breakfast very good value, set you up for the day. I thought the bathroom was far too small, it was a tight squeeze! I also noticed mould above the shower and some of the tiles needed replacing. We could hear the person next door snoring and people above us walking around as though we were in the same room. Some sort of sound proofing might help! Generally the room was a bit 'tired', the carpet needs replacing soon. But we still had a lovely few days!

This hotel is very nice. It has been tastefully modernised in the public areas. It has a nice pool area and outside bar/deck/patio etc. Our room was large and light but extremely hot (no air con) but the staff did get us a fan when we asked which made it much better. It is comfortable and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is very nice but quite cramped at breakfast as the tables are so close together,,not amusing for those of us who don't like private conversations to be overheard easily or to have to listen to others conversations. Breakfast itself was very good, lots of choice and very civilised prompt service for tea/coffee. I personally did not like it's location. I mistakenly believed it was fairly central to everything but in reality it is the best part of a mile walk to anything, bars/restaurants /shops etc. At least the walk is reasonably straight and flat but you do pass through some quite dark and deserted areas. If you do not really like the idea of a long walk to the nearest of anything you should think twice or make sure you have a car. I did not think we would need a car for a weekend break in what I thought was the town centre but wished we had of booked one to make getting around easier. It spoilt if for me as it was a hot weekend and the long trudge to and from the hotel to the harbour, bus station, cafes etc made me cranky and hot.I Don't mind a nice walk but to have to do it to get anywhere irritated me and my funny knee! If you are catching a bus anywhere this hotel is a good 25 minute walk to the bus station so allow yourself time. It was really the only negative thing about it though. I liked it but would not return simply due to it's outlying location.

It was perfect for my needs on this trip. Reception staff were helpful and the room was well appointed. It was unfortunate there were not more guests, evening night cap and breakfast was not the liveliest of affairs. There was no general information in the room and no suggestions where to go. This included no info on wi fi connection.

The staff were very friendly and keen to please . The ordinary priced rooms are very basic and small with a very small shower room and felt a bit claustrophobic. Therefore you really need to upgrade to a larger room and although requested a discount was not available (not very good business in this day and age) .
