Very pleasent and helpful staff. The night porter was pleased to serve us coffee and drinks at a late hour. Nice room overlooking the river. We can see us sitting on the lawns in the summer enjoying the view over the river of the Cathederal. No complaints about the food. it is a pity that when they refurbished they did not renew the windows ! |

The location - easy walk to the Cathedral andTown Centre. The view from the bedroom window overlooking the river and the Cathedral. The plumbing was a little suspect but manageable with a little patience. The new wing had problems with a leaking roof in the corridor and smelt quite fusty. The restaurant was very quiet for dinner and they only had a portable CD by the kitchen door to provide any type of atmosphere. In this grade of hotel, piped music should be standard. |

The proximity to Salisbury Shops and Restaurants and attractions and also the possibility to easily park your hire car in a place where otherwise there is not a lot of parking. And of course the house has a lot of historical charme with old beams etc. |

This was a spontaneuos 'walk in' weekend break that met our needs admirably. I would rate the hotel as 4* on the basis of its internal appearance and cleanliness, the professional yet friendly manner of its staff and the high quality of its cuisine, both in the content of its daily menu and in its chef's ability to actually achieve what this promised. We very much enjoyed our brief stay here and hope to return at some convenient date. Mr & Mrs M. Bakall One negative feature of significance. We were very fortunate in our choice of weekend to come. Reading the hotel's brochure, we found that we were bracketed between two speciality nights that offered styles of entertainment that would not be of interest to us, and fixed menu dining that would have appalled us. I gave top marks to the varied menus offered to us - yet you make a pint of these special entertainment nights with a very poor menu at an excessive price. A minor complaint - It was obvoius that the hotel had recently been refurbished with a thorough repainting throughout, new curtains, carpeting and furniture - yet damaged plasterwork in the corridor suggested a lack of continuity in this process. |

The room, which was in the modern part of the hotel, was very comfortable, plenty of room, nice modern decor. The view over the garden and the river was wonderful. The window frames are showing their age, and could do with some attention. The cooked breakfast menu offered Sausage, bacon, eggs, mushroom and tomato. Beans and Fried Bread available on request. Neither my partner nor I asked for these, but these arrived anyway, and filled the plate with unwanted food. The items we did want made avery small portion. Also my partners Scrambled eggs appeared to have been cooked in advance and were inedible. The second day we asked for exactly what we wanted, which was served with out question. These points were raised with the staff before we left. |

Room was very good in every respect; good breakfast, friendly service. The restaurant has magnificent views of AVOn river. The building is a nice composite of a very old house with modern facilities / new construction My stay would have been perfect except for the telephone line which was was unable to provide incoming nor outgoing communication. |

Size and outlook of room Housekeeping dreadful. Pressure of water in bathroom fluctuates the wildly causing shower to alternate between scolding and freezing. Also causes drenching and flooding of floor from handbasin. 700sq ft room has only one ch radiator working which is still not working when vacating room at 9am. 2 other radiators plus one in bathroom never work. Small electric radiator helps make up for inadequate heating but not enough. These issues plus various others were taken up with manager who reduced bill to what it shold have been in first place. On reflection, what with the discomfort and aggravation, we wouldn't stay there again for nothing |

visited cathedral, shopped and went to other nearby towns Hotel was generally excellent but left some observations with them of a few things which were not right. One was a staff hygiene issue, one was a cleanliness issue and one was a complaint about a cold room and the way it was dealt with |

A good standard of hotel in a superb location, quiet yet walking distance from the city centre representing exellent value. Our stay was let down by the poor quality of food in the restaurant (breakfast was fine). We had dinner on our first night but did not risk it thereafter. |

The ambience of the hotel, it had an old world feeling, yet the accommodation was modern and relaxing. Overlooking the Avon River and seeing the Salisbury Cathedral spite in the background was beautiful,,,,and the area was quiet. We didn't check other reviews on the net. |
