Grasmere House is just a short walk from Salisbury and offers superb cathedral views. The fine Victorian house is situated on the banks of the rivers Avon and Nadder, and surrounded by mature gardens.
Score from 330 reviews Good
Located in the center of the city, this elegant, Georgian hotel with pillared entrance boasts modern rooms and private parking. Guests can find a restaurant, a lounge and a courtyard on site.

Milford Hall is in the heart of this ancient city, just a short walk from the shopping area and cathedral, and is ideally located for visiting Stonehenge.

It provided a picturesque backdrop to the stay.
The shower was exremely hot. The temprature could not be altered. There was another person that complained of the same thing in their room.
The staff were so friendly, professional, and helpful and the location was perfect. I had an incredible view from my room of the River Avon and the Cathedral and a very comfortable room. The restaurant was lovely too!
It is an older building and you can definitely hear your neighbors. For the most part this isn't a problem unless you get a particularly loud group in.
Excellent location, competitively priced..ok this is not a boutique type hotel but sometimes this is all you need..good sized room, clean and comfortable and no sting in the tail £12 per night parking charge that a lot of hotels impose. Car parking is onsite and ample. Good to see local beer available in the bar. Pleasant riverside location.
Pretty short window for breakfast and staff were clearly under pressure to clear stuff away fast..their eagerness fell just on the wrong side of the efficiency/rushed equation.
Friendliness of staff. Beautiful original features. Excellent location.
Noisy people adjacent to us up until the early hours one of the nights we stayed.
Beautiful location just a few minutes walk from the city centre. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Nice coffee machine in room.
Comp bathrobes weren't in room and had to be chased down. Small leak from shower in the room above (rapidly fixed).
Very scenic dining area. Nice out of town location and only 10 minute walk to the cathedral and town.
Bathroom floor was very hairy when we arrived, rest of room was clean. Overly priced drinks - two glasses of wine was over £14!
Good size, spacious room, free parking & only 15 minutes from city centre.
Ground floor room 8A, window fronts main road with no net curtain so we were fully visible to pedestrians walking past. Room next to main hotel entrance so noise from guest & workmen's vehicles which continually parked briefly outside our door. In old part of hotel & noise from room above (plumbing & foot steps)was loud & very annoying. Only stayed for 2 nights & on 2 occassions there was no hot water.
Arrived early as put on booking form room not ready, called back ,@13.50 to be told room would be another half hour room wasn't ready until 14.50 although check in advertised as 14.00 hrs receptionist thought this was amusing room had damp patches on bedroom walls, bathroom tiles were black and mouldy back of door was black with dust no spare toilet roll had to go to main toilet to get one!!bar prices a bit steep .
Great location. Lovely views. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice big room.
Shower was broken, could only get v hot water. Bath was also in need of cosmetic repair. Wooden French doors were also in need of some tlc. TV too small for size of room. Extra charge if wanting a cooked breakfast.
The hotel was attractive, interesting and very comfortable. One of the best views I've had from a hotel window in the UK - room 15. The Staff were lovely and very helpful as I needed a special diet. Perfect location to walk into the city.
Nothing to dislike.
Location,Views & Price.
The location of the room overlooking the river & view of the cathedral was amazing.
Very friendly and a great location.
Originally requested a 4 poster with the proviso that if unavailable we would be allocated something romantic with a double bath. Ended up with a somewhat grubby room with 2 x twin beds pushed together and no double bath. Not exactly what the other half had in mind for Valentines. Pre-booked some bubbles to be in the room when we arrived. 40 mins after checking in and 3 requests later, I went and got it myself from the bar. Only half of the breakfast arrived on our final day, however the receptionist happily removed it from our bill. Overall a functional place but the rooms are tired
Views and short walk to town via Cathedral. Could leave car parked next day no charge.
Continental breakfast good – but pay for an English breakfast – though still reasonable price for a hotel.
excellent location and the new rooms are great, stylish and clean.
Room, view and location
The restaurant was fine and the food very good. However the cost of wine was far to high. we asked for house red and were given wine from the expensive list £9 per glass!
Very nice location next to the river. Must be beautiful in the summer. room with beautiful view on the garden and river.staff very helpful and breakfast was very nice.
the mattress was very uncomfortable and all night we could hear noises from people upstairs.
Service was very friendly. Great riverside location, if your lucky you may even spot a Kingfisher on the wing.
Location is excellent for a visit to Salisbury city centre and 5 minutes walking distance from Salisbury Cathedral. Dinner and breakfast was excellent, and service was fast, friendly and efficient.Definitely worth going again.
Comfortable and good views
Having to log into the Wi-Fi every time
Breakfast, check in staff, convenience
We came back late with another guest, around 1am. We could not get in, eventually a passing guest inside let us in. We could not collect our keys, no one on reception. When we did eventually manage to track someone down, he couldn't find the name on the guest list - eventually he gave it to me and i turned the page and found it.....
If you like boutique hotels - great. We found it very sterile. beautifully appointed but for us lacking atmosphere.
This updated Tudor hotel was just right for Salisbury. We had a beautiful room overlooking the river with a view of the cathedral. We loved it. Food was good and reasonable. The staff were especially friendly and helpful. We would recommend it highly.
Would have like the cooked breakfast to be included rather than just a continental breakfast.
The hotel had a quiet location but was within easy walking distance of the main town. My room was clean and spacious and had a lovely view. The bed had a firm enough mattress and the car parking was easy. Good waitress service in the restaurant.
Restaurant menu was a little too old fashioned.
