The size of our room was amazing very comfortable and clean good bathroom with very good shower

Being located near the delivery entrance as the noise in the early morning was annoying on a relaxing trip away

thought the feel of the great railroad hotel tradition was wonderful and so convenient

Central location, easy parking, nice room with a large bathroom, very good service in the restaurant and bar. Good breakfast with lots of chose. Except for the the one meal our stay was very enjoyable and we will return again.

The bed was not very good with little support. Friends meal was spoilt by a poor/cheap cut of meat that should have been taken off the menu after complaints had been received from three other dinners.

Overall facilities good

Ridiculous breakfast cost. Although main routes and rooms in hotel have had a more modern make-over, the room I had was a little tired and the furnishings/carpets and lighting seemed to have been cobbled together from when they updated other rooms. I would never have paid rack-rate for that room. Having said that there was no problems.

Location adjacent to train station, 5 minute walk to old town. Large garden view room (some rooms are quite small). Good breakfast.

Large, huge really, ferris wheel in garden, completely spoils view of York Minster.

The bed was so soft i would have been more comfortable lying on the bathroom floor. The TV was so old if you were trying to watch movies you could not see each side of the picture. The toilet seat was very badly stained with urine. The two seats that were in the room look like they have never been cleaned since the battle of Hastings. Seriously they were filthy and i could only sit on them if they were covered with a clean towel. Breakfast was at an extra cost. This hotel in no way compares with other hotels of a lower rating. I could never bring my self to recommend this hotel until such time as action is taken to improve basic standards of comfort and cleanliness.

We liked the location, the bed was v comfortable. The view over the wheel and gardens was fantastic.

Just thought it was vy pricy but was for a special occasion so went for it but would just as well go for a b & b if the location was right.

Best position possible for visiting the City of York. Walking distance of everything. The staff at the hotel were all very polite and friendly.

The hotel is very tired and the rooms need renovating and updating especially the bathroom. For a four star the breakfast was very average without a choice of eggs, ie boiled, omlette or choice of porridge or kippers etc from a menu.

Location next to train station was a plus and a negative . could hear all the noise on a night from our room even with windows closed .Breakfast was fab . Staff were brilliant . Service was quick when required .

Had to que at bar to get served ( not normal in a quality hotel ) . the pool was basic and had no class unlike the hotel . the changing rooms were tiny had to wait to get a space . the hotel used lilys as there displays all around which look fab but the smell was terrible . rooms were not old in a nice way .the wardrobe was a cupboard with a 70's teak door on (did not look right in the room at all ) . The bathroom was clean , but old ,not fancy old ,just basic white fittings but maybe from the 70's-80's . overall the room was poor quality for £170 per night . I could go on but wont .

The location to the city centre !!

We stayed in room 116 There was a constant noise from a fan of some sort could have been an air condition unit ? that spoilt sleeping a little bit reminded me of trying to sleep on a plane !!!

The hotel was beautiful. Staff was very friendly and attentive

No air conditioning, it was warm the weekend we were there. Creaky floorboards in the hallways

Finding out on arrival that I had pay for the car park. Disappointing at such a nice hotel. If that desperate for funding the hotel should put up nightly rate to cover and one would know the true cost when booking !!
