30 second walk from Chester station. 10 min. Walk to center of town. Great facilities, large room, ironing board and iron provided
The location right next to the train station means there is a bit of a walk to the sights but is super practical when travelling by train. I had a very nice and quite large room, and the bathroom was excellent. My room was in the modern part - the hotel consists of an old Victorian building with a modern one added next to it. I used room service once and the service as well as the food were very good.
The common areas were not so inviting. And the bar - where you could also eat - reminded me too much of a pub to be really to my liking.
The rooms were very good and clean. They had everything we needed.
It's not much but when we arrived we was directed into a crowded car park which was an overspill car park for the railway station. Having concerns for a day I asked reception if they gave us info to get into the hotel car park. I could then relax knowing the car was safe.
Excellent food in dining room in the evening. Very good breakfast.
Rooms a little out of date and needed refurbishment.
Staff are lovely and location excellent. Hotel itself is very interesting.
Bit noisy one night due to a function.
Comfort and location good breakfast
Overall we really enjoyed the stay
Would rather have a bar of soap to wash with rather than liquid soap
the building and decor were very grand and traditional.
friendly and efficient staff lovely breakfast nice room comfy bed short walk into town
Customer service, room shower, facilities, bar!
Wifi was poor in room
The location right opposite the train station. This hotel is lovely, the rooms differ but all have those little extras. The garden area and bars and restaurants are just a delight. I was there with friends and family for my 50th birthday but what really makes this hotel is the staff. Everyone of them from the lovely concierge staff, bar restaurant and cleaning staff are all so helpful and friendly and my experience of the reception and reservation team cannot be faulted. Would definitely stay there again.
Good location excellent condition very comfortable room.
Staff excellent Food excellent Music in restaurant excellent Bucks Fizz for breakfast excellent
Four poster bed in upgraded Queen Mary room was very noisy and the wardrobe wouldn't shut. Wouldn't pay for an upgrade again.
Historic ambience, Roman displays and sculptures, courtyard, location, great atmosphere. All in all a pleasing place to relax, refresh and revive. So glad to have had the experience. Will be back very soon. Have related your virtues to all my friends , relatives and anybody else who was interested. My stay was for business rather than pleasure but I observed the conferences, etc, going on around and that all seemed impressively efficient and organised with flair and finesse.
Wonky lift, maintenance man was doing his best. Afraid I am unable to marshall any more dislikes and I am not that easy to please so if I experienced you during a high achieving period, I am willing to believe that it was the typical norm at your lovely hotel. No doubt about it , you have something special.
Staff were all very friendly
Bar prices were well above what local bars were paying.
Had a lovely stay at the hotel with my partner in the kings suite. Room was absolutely beautiful as well as the grounds, and was very impressed with standard of service. Breakfast was delicious. 10/10! Highly recommend
The hotel is in an excellent location, within walking distance from the train station and in to Chester. 9 friends stayed here for the races and couldn't fault the staff or rooms. Would definitely recommend.
Location. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We were given an upgrade to the Kings at the Queens and were on the 6th floor so we were well away from the noise of the wedding party in the main hotel, much appreciated. Very tasty breakfast.
the pillows look fluffy but when you put your head on them they go as flat as a pancake!!
Room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Restaurant staff excellent.
Reception staff all very abrupt and not very pleasant. Spoilt stay. They need to be happy and helpful at all times.
Excellent hotel - we booked it because of its location across from the station since we needed to catch an early train. This is a traditional hotel with lots of historical aspects. The bathroom was magnificent - the best we encountered in a 5 week holiday! We would heartily recommend this hotel.
nothing to say
friendly staff, fantastic breakfast, good value
aircon a bit noisy but opening a window shuts it off
Helpful and polite staff, decor & room size
A little pricey, paying for parking
close to train station and not far to canal for drinks and food excellent clean room and breakfast fantastic have stayed in chester at different hotels and would definately only return to this one
Our initial room was in the Queens part of the hotel where the accommodation was great but my elderly Mother found the beds too soft for her bad back. After speaking to reception they kindly moved us to the Kings hotel. Here the beds were a dream and facilities excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a break in wonderful Chester.
Nothing, everything was excellent.
