The exterior of the hotel and the lobby are very nice. The receptionist was polite and helpful.
The room was very noisy from the disco below. We were on the quiet third floor however the music from the party did seem to be amplified by the narrow distance between the buildings so that it was very loud. The bed is a very small double. Dirty plates were still in the corridor at 5.30pm.
Hotel staff very helpful
Room could have better needs a makeover
Booked a twin room expecting two singles in one room - arrived to find a room with separate bedroom. My daughter and I had the luxury of a queen sized double each :)
We were on the top floor so a little out of the way and no lift access.
The building was very nice and clean. An option came up if you wanted a room on the upper floors? I said yes..............
The floor was the sixth and the lift goes to the fifth. Glad no health issues but not too keen being in the loft space as I do believe the other rooms are excellent. Car park was £20 for 24hrs:(
Choice of hot & cold buffet.
Ran out of plates for hot buffet, then when they came out they were cold. Frequently ran out of hot breakfast items so guests had to form a waiting queue. Brought the teapot to the table, but no cups to drink it from!
Staff were friendly. Location close to shops and station.
Room was dull, dark and depressing with very little comfort. Making up the room was done very sloppily with towels not changed when needed. The room keys repeatedly needed to be renewed. Building old and needs a total refurb. Windows old and rattled. Not much room in the bathroom. Parking facilities dreadful.
Great example of architecture Efficient and friendly reception and bar staff
Room supposed to be upgraded but seemed very ordinary apparently due for a refurbishment soon. Breakfast service slow. Why can't you order poached egg ON toast? Eggs turn up on a plate and you look for the toaster!
Central location with on-site parking. Helpful staff. Impressive architecture. Decor looking slightly tired but everything worked.
size of room, comfort of bed. Very nice bathroom.
Decor modern but rather dull. No double glazing in front room. Breakfast - prefer the choices offered by 'premier inn' Foyer/reception area not very comfortable or welcoming 2 conferences taking place on our dates so restaurant closed Lighting and ambience of breakfast restaurant
Picture of room when booking isn't what I got. The single business room shows a double bed but the room I got had single bed. I was on the top floor and internet access was impossible. Other guests very noisy well up to 5am! A very disappointing stay and not worth the £124 I paid.
Location Interior of hotel Room itself Parking availabilty
Almost no water pressure in shower Tired looking bathroom in general Plumbing a bit suspect
Had very relaxing stay.Central location, beautiful building.
A little dated, some areas could do with updating.
Room wasn't very big and wasn't worth the money paid to stay
Nice staff, nice room, good breakfast (catered for my gluten free needs). Excellent all round
The beds the staff and how clean it was
toilets showed eveidence of previous night's party ... after 10am the next day
Last nights bedding outside the bedroom all along the corridor. Superior double you could only put a piece of paper between the beds. Had to be a contortionist to get out of the bathroom. Would have rather spent the extra £25 and stayed at The Queens
Location was excellent
Upon arrival we were told my payment had been declined, and although additionally booking breakfast it was not on the bill. We were on the second floor, when leaving the lift there was a tray of dirty dishes that looked to have been left there over night. Outside every room was a pile of dirty bed sheets. On the internet booking the rooms pictured were not what we stayed in. The room was clean but to no standard that were advertised on line, I had booked this hotel as a romantic night away for me and my partner and was very very disapointed, the breakfast was dreadful and the service was terrible there was only 1 staff member on for the 20 mins were were dining, her service understandably was slow and she had forgotten our order of coffee and toast, in fact it was a good thing we didnt get coffee as the cups were dirty! So we went without! When checking out there had been a problem with the booking and I had been charged again for breakfast, this was an extreme insult as I had already paid upon check in, and also I would have objected to pay for it as it was terrible. I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone for the pure fact it was nothing like advertised we were under false pretence and I felt like I had been robbed of a wonderful night away, as what should have been spent in luxury 4 star we spend the whole night out as we didnt want to stay in the hotel.
Location excellent n lovely hotel
Creaky floor boards of upper level rooms did keep me awake but not my husband
The location of the hotel. The staff and the facilities
Reception and restaurant staff friendly and helpful
Decor - very brown!. The decor is rather over-powering and depressing. Common areas and bedrooms painted in a very drab colours, that make the hotel very depressing - not light and airey. This is not helped by lighting and lack of natural light. Our room was quite small and browns made it seem smaller.
Nice clean hotel and only a couple of minutes to city centre, great staff and beautiful food in the restaurant ,would definitely come again
Standing outside in the cold at 1in the morning because Fire alarm went off.but these things happen and it was sorted when we paid the bill
The room was huge and very well equipped. The hotel is in an excellent location for the train station and shopping.
Maybe because the room was so big, it was cold (on further investigation one of the window didn't shut properly so there was a draft) and we couldn't get the radiator to work. However, when we reported this, we were given a heater we could plug in. Happy that the issue was solved quickly.
