Score from 605 reviews Very good
the location was good for our purposes. the facilities were good.
the staff were over stretched with a wedding party making all other guests suffer. the rooms are very tired and extremely hot.
Awfull hotel... tatty carpets very old tv ancient lift.,., generally got the feeling about to close
Living in a hotel that dates back to 1600's.
Hotel room could have been cleaner. Scraps on floor that were not vacuumed up. Room still not cleaned by 3-30pm so did it myself.
location and grounds appeared very nice. Staff even though stressed and understaffed, remained polite and friendly. Bed was confortable.
On close inspection the hotel looks very tired with worn out carpets in corridors and in our room. Did not appear to have enough staff, especially during breakfast - be prepared to queue and set your own table. Staff turning up for an evening shift were changing in the corridors - obviously getting ready for a function/wedding.
Location Free car park
Tired decor of Rooms Poor Food No Comfort Expensive bar Too Noisy Long queues for breakfast Unless you were in the wedding party you felt you were an inconvenient Poor value for money
Room needed maintance, socket hanging from wall, head board fell of wall. No answer on ro service . When got through to reception for room service the food we prefers was wrong on two items. When they re delivered food for the second time the good was cold. Poor poor poor!!!
We upgraded to a superior room and the bed was divine.
Our original room was tiny, dark, and the window was right next to the service goods entrance so we had to pay for an upgrade because we weren't happy. The TVs are historic and very poor quality. The decor is dated and a bit cheap. We had hair in our bathroom. The downstairs bar was very basic and dull and expensive.
SLOW SERVICE DRAUGHT LAGER CLOUDY
The building was beautiful and the grounds.
The staff was rude, to get to the hotel from the airport (LHR) was not easy. They have a shuttle but you have to be at the hotel to use, it only goes 2 miles to the bus station. The rooms whave no screens in the them we awoke to large black crows in our room fighting over some biscuits we had.
Inadequate reception desk
Staff were great, very professional. World class customer service.
Poor cell phone signal. Poor lighting (for reading) in the room. Room was hot with no fan or air cooling system. Bad access to spa (via bar and waiting area)
location, size, facilities
hotel is run down and needs upgrading, large wedding parties 2 nights out of my 4 night stay
The rooms are old and not well appointed, particularly for the price. The welcome and breakfast are also underwhelming for a property that's supposed to be four stars.
Pool location and rooms Squirrels in the garden Also two deer appeared in the ground every morning Hotel quiet at night and beds are very comfy
Building getting tired and lots of small but noticeable faults windows single glazing with sun on building rooms heat up during day so heat unbearable also heating in bathroom on constant so good to dry swimming clothes but like mini sauna Carpet had proper hole in middle and we was in family room with children who channel hopped as kids do Serious porn channels came on screen without need for pin def not suitable for children and was to easy to find Pools tired bridge out of use due to collapsed pool wall and rotten wood Also pool times for children 9-11 1-6 after long day out in London difficult to say to children you carnt go into pool as we to late other hotels allow up to 8 in evening Food ok but due to wedding limited staff in dining room Food was cold by the time we got back to table looking for tea or coffee staff filling up customers cups then of to kitchen to replenish buffet then clearing tables so had long wait 4 staff for approx 40-50 tables Arrived at 3 had to wait 30 min for room with baby in push chair and me on crutches given room in east wing up and down lots of stairs 19 steps in all after requesting easier room got lower floor with lift worth complaining but still had to wait for room to be prepared Can understand building is listed so windows are cast iron but won't be hard to run duster around frame Water fills bath within 1 minute so be careful Would have liked fridge in room as due to heat milk goes off quickly new milk at 5 pm from local shop for morning baby's bottle was curdled And it's a long walk to get fresh milk
Rooms need air con now
Too Hot , the rooms ALL need updating.
Large room and nice grounds
Focus is on weddings and events at the expense of general hotel guests
The setting of the Hotel is very peaceful, very modern relaxing pool and Spa. Staff are extremeley friendly and helpful, everything about this hotel is good.
Nothing, it is the ideal hotel
Location is great, did not get a chance to use any of the facilities so can't comment on that
Tv big chunky, fussy, not even all free view channels available freezing and going blank amid programmes.Bath and taps full of scales build up.Loose tile in the middle of bathroom. £6.00 a day for Wi-Fi is in my opinion extortionate as most hotels now provide free Wi-Fi. Rain water coming in through windows as windows do not shut properly. We were even charged £29.00 on my bill on check out for breakfast that I never ordered which I had to point out for it to be rectified. For my stay I got a bed and a few cups of teas not at all worth the money.
Decor of room was very out of date, carpet worn, toilet seat wobbily, small bed, uncomfortable pillows not what I would expect for over £100 a night hotel! breakfast was only average too!
everything! The bedroom was fantastic, the food wonderful, views great, comfy bed.
No air conditioning.
Lovely looking hotel with wonderful food and staff.
Need need of a whole new pool area, everyone of the sun loungers where broken. The tiles were falling off the wall in the pool and the bridge was rotting away. Our room was clean and comfortable but in the bathroom no fan or opening window, rather unpleasant at times.
Location for our purposes was great and the setting in parkland with a golf course is great.
The building is dated and in need of extensive refurbishment. There was no porter to assist us with baggage to a suite which was a couple of floors and a long distance from the reception. There is no air conditioning which would have helped as we stayed there during a particularly warm spell.
The location in the park with the golf course at hand is stunning. The building as such is an experience. Food is good, Staff very friendly.
Though they´ve done some refurbishment in the past years, it´s still an old building, with narrow floors and very different room sizes. Nice is the new WLAN through out the hotel, but since the rates are already high, it should be free!
