Staff friendly and polite.
Stay was spoilt by breakfast being cold on both days . Food was of a good quality but bacon , eggs , sausage also the plates were all cold.
Park like location away from noise. Just like staying in a stately home.
Hard core drum and base until 00:15 was unacceptable. Furthermore when you call up room service at 23:15 enquiring what time the ridiculously loud music that is shaking my room will go on for, the statement "You will have to up with it until midnight." was not what I expect from a 4* hotel.
Plenty of parking. Excellent facilities (only rated them good because I didn't get a chance to try them out). Very good selection at breakfast. Beautiful hotel. Plenty of storage in the room. Iron & board provided, as standard. Bed was very comfortable.
Long queue for check-in, laden with bags but back-room staff coming in & out of office behind reception didn't seem to feel it necessary to open up the third desk. Didn't appear to be anywhere to deposit bags while waiting. 2 Champagne buckets in the room (no idea why), melting all over the desk & chair, required clean-up when I got in the room. What looked like a blood stain on the right curtain. Room was quite cold & couldn't find any means of heating. The evening meal included in half board rate was really just a bar snack and didn't include a drink - wouldn't have minded if I'd been told up-front but was hoping for something more substantial than an omelette, after a full day of travel on an empty stomach. TV was pretty tiny, for such a large room, terrestrial channels only and had a permanent error message in bright green across the screen (no accompanying instructions, tried every button on remote but couldn't get rid of it).
Location. Beautiful viewa Size of room
DStaff most helpful and courteous at all times
especially aroung plugholes and grouting. Bathroom needed upgrading and thorough cleaning. Hand basin was cracked. Toilet too near to wall - difficult to sit on!!
our room on arrival was on the Lower ground, a lovely spacious family room
a fire exit door had been left open and so many daddy long legs, no windows were open in our room but at least 20, between bathroom, toilet bedroom and dead on the bed! was told it was nature, not amused - if wanted nature I would have went camping - still waiting on manager to ring ref my complaint, its been 3 weeks since the stay, had to move rooms at 2.30am and it wasn't as nice ( grubby!! )
Rather tired decor and furnishings. Breakfast a farce. Clearly cannot cope with large numbers of guests. Hot food was never all available at the same time. 'Orange juice' had been diluted many times and was undrinkable. At one time, there was a queue of 8-10 people for the single toaster! Will not be returning.
Situation convenient for family occasions.
Hotel is VERY 'tired' and in need of a thorough overhaul and update. Chairs in room were old and very worn. Carpets in room and corridors are worn and in places threadbare. Bathroom is almost unhygienic - black behind taps and shower furred.
It was a convenient location for a one night stay, as we had an early meeting next day, nearby.
Room was basic and not very luxurious for the money. It was very hot with no control over heating. Beautiful building but needs a serious update.
Ideal location for access to family and friends meetings on the occasion of my fathers 100th birthday Although not at selsdon park it was convenient for the area
Not especially good value for us although reasonable for the area
room was great thankyou
breakfast wasn't good sent up to the room no toast eggs not great 3 trips to complete order
food spa and pool views decor
check out time carpet in the room tv package
I attended a wedding with family and friends at this hotel and everything was perfect. The preparation and wedding decor was absolutely fantastic and the staff were also wonderful. The ground were beautiful. I would recommend that anyone comes to stay.
Convenient location, good price
The whole place looks rather dated and has a budget feeling, not exactly luxury !
Very nice grounds
Breakfast not enough choices
I like the house and the setting. The house is nice and roomy and the golf course is lovely with many tame wild creatures in the surrounding woods. The bar serves good food reasonably priced.
The window lock was aluminium and was difficult to close the window properly. I did not have a nice view from my window but it was a lovely room and that is what matters most.
Excellent location with excellent views over golf course and countryside. Owls calling at night were a delight.
This is a tired, old world place. Main focus is on conferences and weddings. Cleaning staff were under a lot of pressure.
Fabulous grounds and surroundings. Efficient & welcoming staff.
Decor distinctly faded. Needs reinvestment. Main restaurant is a bit pricey with no decent alternatives within walking distance. The place really does deserve to be given a make-over.
The swimming pool was lovely and relaxing. The grounds were beautiful. The location was good. The hotel building was beautiful.
The rooms were a little dated, but did the job.
Nothing in particular
Size of Hotel Atrocious booking system Lack of civility from staff - couldn't care less attitude. Refused food at bar when it was clearly within service time
Location and ease of getting to where we needed to be
Reception very slow and at times would say under Staffed
The reception was perfect in sorting any problems we had.And the meal were of high standard. Overall a great stay with the hotel. And I would book again with the Selsdon Park in the near future.
Nice room in nice setting. V comfortable
food was good and the grounds were lovely.
The hotel needs a refurbishment it is very run down but you can see it was at one time a lovely hotel.
