Staff were polite & did their best. We were put in room g50 which was extremely dump and had probably not been lived in for ages. The air, bedding, bathroom, floor etc smelt dump. Had to sleep with window open thinking it wld clear the smell but did not make a difference. It was so bad that the combination of dump & cold woke me up nauseated. Rung reception who kindly moved us to room g39 wich was better. We are under the impression that g50 has probably flooded in the past & staff were aware of it. What we wld like to know is if any of your staff wld sleep in that room free?. It is a health hazzard.

We really enjoyed staying at the Selsdon Park Hotel. I read many reviews that made me worry a bit, but when we did finally get there, we were pleasantly surprised!! Our twin room was lovely, very clean, well kept, and a nice, large size. The paint was fresh, the carpets were clean, and the bathroom was a good size with new tile throughout. We really spent most of our time out in the city, so our room was mainly for resting. The location was good, close to bus stops, a grocery store, and a nice pub/restaurant, all of which we used frequently. All staff that we encountered were very polite, friendly, and answered any questions we had. We will surely stay at sph for future visits. The only real issue that we had was the toilet, which took an hour for the tank to refill after each flush. However, we informed the reception about it, and eventually it was fixed within a timely manner.

Selsdon Park is in a quite and relaxed environment with plenty of parking and very close to East Croydon Station. The hotel is in need of major renovation I stayed there for 2 weeks and had to change rooms the first week as the original one had faulty under floor heating the temp in the room was over 40 degrees!!! The following week I was given a room with no heating at all and the windows are not air tight so the chill made it unbearable had to ask for a portable heater!! Paint pealing off the walls, old stained carpets, our phone line in the second room was not connected!! Generally the hotel is need of some serious tlc, the cheap rates and nice staff were the only consolation.Otherwise would not stay there again.

I liked the grounds around the hotel as they were stunning. I didn't like the room, I found it not to look like how it was described, I thought it was overpriced for what you got and as for the £5 tray charge on top of your room service Bill I thought that was a lil cheeky as good is quite expensive anyway. I would not stay here again out of choice.

As a very old member of the previous Selsdon Golf Club, having married our daughter there, and having used in the past the hotel for many business meetings, I wanted to use their facilities for a week-end break with my wife. No porterage! No robes in bathroom! No cocktail services in bar! Except for a very efficient Lady Manager, poor staff experience! Tired looking dining room!

Spa - swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna Room cold - complained but it wasn't fixed Room allocation in the middle of a conference corridor with delegates walking up and down - very offputting Towels - booked for two guest but only given one towel Bar - service slow - had to remind them constantly of our order Food - my friend had to send their sandwich back as the ingredients were not as described on the menu and even when it was returned it wasn't correct; Both of us were very ill the next day with stomach problems after breakfast. Staff - generally unhelpful and unfriendly at breakfast and on reception would never stay there again _ not value for money

It's a basic hotel that needs refurbishing and it needs to have the heating looked at, we ordered 4 rooms and 2 of those the heating didn't work, with concrete window frames it gets cold quickly and stays cold, you would be better of staying in a more mordern hotel ie jurys, it's up to date and much cheaper, the breakfast was ok, but the tea was shite, must be cheap teabags, the bar is closed in the day time but you can still order drinks at reception, the bar looks like a a waiting room, no pub atmosphere at all,i wouldn't stay there again, although the oustide grounds are very nice,i'll stick to jurys next time

Staff were friendly. No security during new years or christmas - drunk people all over the place and booze being taken out of the venue/banqueting spaces. Beds were not comfortable. No water bottles in room for guests. List goes on and on.

The spa facilities were very relaxing and staff are very friendly. Having stayed at the hotel many times before on this one occasion the executive room had cobwebs, the pillows were flat and uncomfortable and the wind rattled the windows so much I did not sleep all night.

It's a beautiful building and the staff were great. We ate in the dining room and the staff were especially friendly. The food was also very nice. I was at the hotel last year for a wedding and the room I was in then was incredibly hot. I was sweltering all night. This year I returned for the anniversary dinner, and brought along a fan just in case. The room I was in this year had a fan in the wardrobe but was actually rather cold. I wasn't supplied any extra bedding so went to bed in my dressing gown! I guess this is the price you pay for such an old building - it must be a nightmare trying to keep it a sensible temperature during the winter.

I am feeling great to comment about this hotel. We as a couple planned to view the Fireworks at london eye in London and chose this hotel. I booked it at the last minute and as soon as I saw the photograph of this hotel, I went for it without any hesitation. It was so romantic and I had a great time with my wife. The other special reason is it looks like a big Palace, Castle, Historical with vast area of golf course and walk area to enjoy the beautiful scenes of hills and trees at the back of the hotel. We had a splendid time. We spent 125 gbp per night but its worth the money. I feel great for having stayed in a hotel which was built in around 1927. Wonderful experience. Nothing to dislike as such but a observation to make more than 100% is 1) The soap that was given to take bath was so small that it often fell down from the Soap holder which was a grill kind. Soap was good. May be it can be bit bigger or the Soap holder has to be changed.

Room size was very good and comfortable . Hotel was pleasant and friendly . Golf rates very good and spa was very good . Overall good value . There was no shuttle to the train station over all the holiday period so cost extra in taxis and would not of booked there if known . Also there was a ten pound tray charge for breakfast in room which we felt was extortionate. No mini bar and charge for wi fi .

We loved the large bedroom, and the huge comfortable bed. We found all the staff to be friendly and very professional. The Breakfast was missing "Mushrooms" and also for us the Bar prices are far too high. Quality of morning Tas & Coffee could be better.

We loved the old world ambience,, the splendid views, the lovely staff, the relaxed atmosphere, one of the nicest breaks we have ever had. Would definitely stay there again. The price was so reasonable, the breakfasts were very tasty and well-served. We The room was very hot but the maintenance man checked and the heating was not even on. He brought me a fan which helped. Really enjoyed the experience including a swim in the pool. The room was hot but no heating was on, the maintenance man brought me a fan. It was a very mild Christmas and we had big windows wide open and there was no noise

Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpfull. Location was great for us as we had meetings in Croydon all day. Stunning building . Overall marks from us were 9/10 Have a fantistic Christmas and prosperous new year. Only down side was as it was Christmas party week, there was a lot of niose from some very drunk people at 4am which did wake us up but as I said it was party week. I am sure we have all been there once.
