Excellent location. Food v good.
This was my second stay. Unfortunately I had a first floor room immediately above the bar / restaurant and the music was pretty loud - particularly a problem as I wanted an early night.
Staff were great, food in resturant slightly expensive but good
Decor looking a bit tired in the rooms. Television remote do not work. Walls in resturant and hallway looking shabby, splashes of ? Gravy on the wall paper in resturant
The room was a bit lacklustre.
Friendliness (Sam was amazing) Very accommodating Willingness to please Food (I have Celiac's Disease) The chef literally went out to buy Gluten Free Hamburg buns for me) Helpfullness
Clean, good shower although slightly small, adequate for a short stay
Really pleasant friendly staff who were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Nice room with everything we could need in there, excellent meal at the adjoining Bar The Shack where we had the most awesome burgers and it was great value for money. Fab breakfast in the morning too!!
The car park is a little small and awkward to park, especially if you had a larger car. Fortunately we arrived nice and early to check in and were able to 'shotgun' one of the best spaces!
Room a nice size bed comfortable beautiful old building
We went at the end of August & it was very cold outside there was no heating on in the room so when we got up & showered it was freezing, we were only there the 1 night but I would have had to say something. No choice of teas in the room, peppermint or lemon would have been nice
The window handle in room 4 had broken off and we had to have the window open all night. Due to the noise of the drunks and the boy racers outside we could not sleep. Maid didn't arrive until 5pm when we were in the room so only changed the towels and replenished the coffee. Didn't clean, hoover, empty bins or wash our cups. One piece of toast each for breakfast with only butter on first day and plain toast on second day - no butter. Breakfast menu had Danish pastries on - but they no longer do them! Limited parking for small cars. Never managed to connect to wifi. Would not stay here again.
Appearance of hotel and location.
The matress on the bed and size of room was small.
Good breakfast .clean rooms .good staff
They tried to cancel our booking and our friends ,approx two weeks before our stay ,saying it was being decorated. We stood our ground and they cancelled the decorators. But they had a wedding with 60 guests on that same weekend?
Staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and very good value included in room rate.
Staff brilliant and food excellent!!
Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable, nicely decorated and clean room with a bath (hurrah) in the en-suite bathroom. Cooked breakfast was freshly prepared and excellent. Location was perfect for me: away from the hubub of the centre of town but just a few minutes walk away from both the centre and the railway station. Free wifi which is essential when I am travelling on business. A home from home and superb value for money.
Can't think of anything that was out of place.
Great restaurant, clean room, very comfortable bed, friendly staff
location and on sight facilities
disorganised restaurant staff. Had to complain and then everything improved significantly.
It was a cute place to stay. People were friendly. The restaurant's food was very good. We loved our room.
The lock needed to be fixed as opening the door was difficult.
Liked the historical architecture, the bed, the facilities, the old window, the wi-fi and the food and staff in the restaurant.
The lovely old abbey window in the room did not close fully as the window latch / handle is missing so the traffic in the morning woke my husband up and disturbed his sleep. This needs to be fixed as it will also be a problem in poor weather too.
Nice and clean, comfy bed, fairly quiet at night, good fresh cooked breakfast.
The rooms could do with a bit of redecoration and a few minor repairs. i.e. door not closing properly, only three out of 8 lights working in bathroom mirror.
Staff were very approachable and friendly.
Very tight gap to the car park, only 3-4 inches either side of a VW Passat so be careful if you book here if you have a big car.
Great food good service
Room quite warm
a great location very good hotel and we would stay here again
staff were friendly, and helpful during all of our stay. We had good clean rooms, which were private, relaxing with drinks and biscuits available. Restaurant served good variable menu.
location was good. Sam the Manager was very friendly and couldnt do more to help and the price was ideal
Noise of the main road and the fact that i heard the kitchen staff scrape my burnt toast and then they still brought it out to me to eat for breakfast
The staff were friendly; breakfast was reasonable; sheets were clean
Room was tatty - badly in need of redecoration. Although shower and hand basin were acceptable, toilet under the seat not too clean and floor dusty. Room also dusty on the floor. Door difficult to lock from inside and out - had to prop heavy bag against it. Reported to staff but told all the springs were in need of tightening and "it will work if you push it harder". No help with taking luggage up to room, although staff helped to take luggage out to my car when I left.
