friendly staff Location very good
Rooms very dated and small Rooms are very noisy. Walls seem to be paper thin. mine was opposite breakfast room - kitchen incessant noise from 6.30 am. This happened both mornings. The second evening and morning I could hear every squeek and noise from the room above. When I pointed this out to reception staff and asked to be moved the staff agreed that it is a noisy room but as they were busy they could not move me. They offered me a suite but said it would cost an additional 170! Sorry Lens field but despite pleasant staff this is bad customer service and if you are aware there is an issue with noise in this room you should have double glazing or soundproofing installed.
position well refurnished wonderful bathroom and shower (new refurnished)
traffic road vicinity.
near to Cambridge town centre and university buildings . Breakfast was great
over priced for what it is.
no parking available
Great stay, felt well looked after will be definitely back
Good location relatively new bathroom
Really outdated decor in room. No external window in room, went straight onto dining room conservatory, so did bathroom, so didn't feel private. Staff all congregated in voter, made it a bit uncomfortable to go through, like you were in their living room
Location and price
Rooms and restroom facilities are quite small and old
There is no way of closing the doors decently. Heavy locks make an incredible noise in the middle of the night. Everyone else in the same hall wakes up. I woke up two times because other people had to enter their rooms. Awful place.
Room was lovely Spa was handy Staff were really helpful and friendly
Breakfast was a bit lacklustre Hotel was a bit further out of Cambridge than I expected
Bedroom was very small, but well appointed. Nice bathroom with good shower. Good location, short walk to the centre of Cambridge. Breakfast was excellent. Nice pub next door.
Beds were rather hard. Pillows were quite hard. Not enough parking on site.
Comfortable and close to the city center. Good breakfast and friendly staff
Modern, clean, friendly, great food and location
Noisy front room by road all night long, wifi was very weak.
For one night's stay with an exorbitant cost of 110 quid, I'd expect the room to have been bigger, brighter and much more spacious. Walk into the room and it ends before it even begins. With the double bed in the middle, there's hardly enough walking space and the decor made the room look dingy. It is definitely not value for money. I have been to some lovely inns which cost way less and look much more welcoming. In terms of the complimentary breakfast, there were very few options in itself. The place is in some serious need of some redecoration and the walls are unbelievably thin. From inside the room, one can hear people walking on the stairway ... The photos displayed on the site and the actual place are completely different. Not a happy customer at all!!!
The Rooms were very dated shower in the room no real bathroom for that price i would expect at least a bathroom
It was so close to everything. It was only a 15 minute walk to cafés, restaurants, the tourist information centre & city centre. The room was comfortable enough & clean.
My room was right next to the dining area so there was some breakfast noise in the morning which might bother some.
..for the price I have paid, I did not like: - size of the room - old furnitures in both room and bathroom - windows frames are far too old - not isolated from noises - not possible to cool it when it is too warm outside
Nice location near the railway station.
I can hear what others do near my room
The character of the hotel gave you a cosy feeling. The room we were allocated, although not big, was beautifully decorated with swags at the windows and above the bed. The hotel is so central to everything, that once you parked the car everything was within walking distance.
Only having 5 parking spaces. We were lucky in that we had to park around the corner for the first night, but we were able to park in front of the hotel for the remainder of our stay.
Everything was awful. Counter staff were rude and only 5 parking spaces!! Had to park a mile away with valuables in the car.
The newly furnished deluxe room. Breakfast is superb and waitresses brilliant. So efficient. Good family owned hotel.
The unrefurbished older rooms. Very small and no aircon. Pity we had to pay £40 a night extra for a proper boutique hotel room. These older rooms must be updated and soon. For the price we paid eventually we could have stayed at the Hotel du Vin just around the corner.
Convenient location, generous breakfast, the free parking (if lucky enough to get one of the 4 or 5 spaces)
Staff unhelpful; room in dire need of decoration with peeling wall paper, cracked plaster; the mattresses were "soggy" with springs poking through; room grubby on arrival and not serviced properly during stay with towels and soap removed but not replaced, dirty tea tray left in room. Spa tiny and only available to guests at inflated further charges; gym consisted of small windowless room with a couple of treadmills but again, only available to guests on payment of £10 per person per use! The "cosy bar" was a small area off reception with a mini drinks fridge and a bowl of nuts on the counter, not staffed. The "comfortable lounge" is actually three chairs in reception. The attractive outside seating shown in the promotional material is a couple of tables in front of the hotel entrance, right next to the main road. Yes, WI-FI is available but you guessed it, at extortionate extra cost!
Location is great. It is within walking distance of the heart of the city and University. Clean, comfortable bed. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
It is an older building and rooms could use some updating. No air conditioning. Generally not needed in Cambridge, but it was hot when I visited. It is expensive for what you get, but that is true for everything in Cambridge.
The Bed The room size
It was excellent value for money considering the central location, bars, shopping, punting and sightseeing are all within 5-10 mins walk
rooms are a bit dated but still clean and well equipped
