The staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. Breakfast, the room and the hotel location is absolutely great. Our stay was excellent. Hope to return again. This hotel is an ancient building and it used to be a school for boys (since the year 1834...or something like that), then the school for girls and just a secondary school. There are very old pictures of the classmates and graduates on the walls. The rooms themselves habe the names. Our room No 128 was named Headmaster's room... I even can not measure the hieght of the windows..... It was really nice stay.

It seemed a good hotel for the money. They forgot my wake up call and if my husband had not phoned me I would have not made my meeting on time.

It met all of our requirements - was comforatable, warm, staff were lovely, location was perfect, good value for money - would look to staying there again. Re heating - you have to check the controls are set correctly or the room could be cold - so the reviewer that wrote 'room was cold' probably didn't play with the controls - if you can't figure it out - call reception! Once we set the heating we were lovely and warm even though we stayed there the night before the snow storm.

Loved the location off the hotel, also the room was really nice and stylish, with really nice deco. This may be a personal preference but the bed was very uncomfortable, extremely hard, both myself and my partner found our self tossing and turning through out the nights. We were also quite disserpointed with the quality off the shower, it was quite slow, it was just a basic shower; with it been a 4* hotel u would expect a decent shower. However overall a great stay.

I do not like the pre-charge, almost 1/4 of the total fees. Also, they do not tell us that they pre-charge the room when I pay by card.

Great location right next to lots of restuarants and bars. A stones throw from the shops and all Sheffield has to offer. Would reccomend the location, rooms are great for the price,we paid £50 for a double.Great staff, nice bar area overlooking the square where there are a great choice of restuarants and bars,we had ameal at The Aarragh Indian, really fantastic and you get 15%discount if staying at The Leopold, which we only found out the day after! Impressive building having been a old school prior to being a hotel,we will be going back soon.

A good city centre hotel and an interesting conversion from its previous use as a technical school. Nice room. It had a modern and functional atmosphere normally associated with a boutique hotel. The Leopold did not live up to the standard that we had experienced at similar hotels in the group. Its interesting style and atmosphere was not matched by an impressive standard of decor or quality of service. There was absolutely no view from the bedroom. I would be careful to make specific and caveated recommendations about whether to stay at the hotel.

The hotel has been beautifully and sympathetically converted from an old school building, retaining a lot of it's original character, as have the adjacent buildings around the square, making a great choice of bars and restaurants virtually on the doorstep. It is also close to the main shopping, cultural and entertainment areas. The staff were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Exceptional value for money and I would definitely use it again. Our room was on the fifth floor and the water pressure was very low in the bathroom, but on mentioning it at Reception they apologised for this, promised to get maintenance to check it and thanked us for mentioning it.

Efficient & helpful reception & bar staff . Spacious & well appointed rooms Clean & fairly luxuious especially with January price deal.Well located for theatres, shopping & bar/restaurants. My only complaint is a personal one about Room 128 - The Headmaster's study - in which I stayed. Havig been the party that booked the hotel - with a friend in another room - I was disappointed to be given a much smaller room than his . Equally there was no explanation from staff at the outset on where this room was located - on an exteral half landing - and inadequate signposting on the second floor to direct me to it. I believe - having seen my friend's room - that the 2 rooms should not have been charged at the same rate.

Very luxurious hotel in the heart of Sheffield city centre. The water pressure was very low for the shower meaning that it was difficult to have a warm shower in the morning. It would also be nice to have a more powerful light in the room as it was difficult to apply make up (according to the girlfriend).
