    The evening meal and breakfast were some of the best hotel food I have had and I travel a lot with my job. Very tranquil and peaceful, away from the madness of summer holiday hotels. The staff were very keen to make my stay an enjoyable and comfortable one.

    Nothing. A refreshing change from the usual chain type hotels.

    Room decor was nice, staff helpful, clean, comfy bed and nice pillows.

    Sunday morning we could hear banging and footsteps from 7am until 9am. Was our chance for first Lay in for about a year and we couldn't because of the banging. Quite expensive for location.

    Friendly, weloming reception staff. Attentive meal-times staff Fantastic food, both for breakfast and for dinner. The Menu Surprise was outstanding.

    Polite staff and very elegant rooms. Very good for couples or newly weds.

    Expensive restaurant. My room was cold at night about 10.30pm, as they had time control on the radiator. Was not able to use steam shower room even though advertised.

    I was treated like one of the family and this was especially welcome as I was travelling alone and had never been to Wimborne before. When I returned to the hotel on the second night, the owner had put an electric fire in my room in case I was cold and complimentary biscuits. Thank you for making me feel so welcome.

    I arrived in the dark and the house was difficult to find down a very dark country lane and was poorly lit. Although the food was very good, I was charged £25 for one course which I didn't consider to be value for money. I would have preferred a set menu for guests with some basic choices, not a 3-course gourmet menu.

    Nice quiet location. We only had continental breakfast but it was sufficient with reasonable choice.

    The hotel did not live up to my expectations considering it was the most expensive hotel in our itinerary and had the highest aa rating. The building is in need if a revamp and freshen. On arrival the toilet seat would not stay up and for a man this can be quite difficult to control! We mentioned it to staff member who got it fixed (in actual fact they just slid it to one side and tightened nut)! Consequently next time it was sat upon my wife almost went flying as it slid right across to one side! Once again it was fixed and correctly repositioned this time. There was no hot water for our first nights shower and we had to get someone to turn it on as it had apparently tripped out. The heated towel rail did not work so we had damp towels the next day as the cleaner did not replace them. The cleaner used too much shake n vac or scented the bed linen because my wife who is asthmatic was quite ill for our 2 night stay. We were kept awake with children running around in the room adjacent to ours (which I later discovered were the owners who live on site) Whilst it is a nice spot with a high rating, the building requires maintenance. The owners have gone overboard with some things but the little things that matter have been neglected or require attention. There were lovely complimentary handmade biscuits but no plates/saucers to put them on! The hotel was unwelcoming, had no ambience which left the place feeling very cold. Cheap lino in the entrance hall and luxurious bar/lounge was a let down.

    From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The room was very comfortable and, as promised, a bottle of champagne was waiting to welcome us. The dinner was of the highest quality and the wine list one of the most extensive I've seen. I had read some negative reviews on-line and can only say the writers must have been somewhere else!

    The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was excellent. The prices were fair. The bedroom was comfortable but not large enough to accommodate a chair. The bedroom's hospitality tray was a very nice touch, with good choice of beverage and hand crafted sweetmeats. Continental breakfasts were particularly good.

    A common niggle some hotels we have recently stayed in - no soap tray or shelf in the shower to set down soap or shampoo while showering.
