very peaceful, and helpful staff,
Friendly and professional service throughout our stay.
Facilities were great, gym, pool, sauna and steam room but this is an independent fitness centre also used by non guests so hotel guest have to take there own towels and change for the lockers ( so prepare before you go or you'll need to detour back to your room first ). The hotel restaurant can also be booked for outside guests so you'll need to make sure you book in advance. The food is amazing ! The rooms are very clean and well equipped with towels, toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities. A safe, laundry service and room service are available. Nearby town with plenty of eating, drinking and shopping places. All in all a very enjoyable place to stay. Would recommend.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was tasty but some items were cold.
The bed had a plastic sheet on the mattress. The mattress was not comfortable - too soft - clearly years old. The room and bathroom were small. Furnishings of standard quality and there was no fridge. Spa was mis-advertised. Did not have a jacuzzi and the spa was not part of the hotel but next door at the nuffield health club so was open to the general public and extremely busy. We asked the life guard where the jacuzzi was and he said that they didn't have one and they have been telling the hotel for a while to take that off the facilities offered. We would not have chosen the hotel had we known. The dinner was nice enough but overpriced for what was on offer.
good location, and pleasant spacious grounds
Inevitable that there was a wedding and disco being a weekend, so disturbed by noisy revellers in the corridor until 1.30 am. Avoid weekends! Two faulty lamps in bedroom reported to reception and one ceiling light out. Poor maintenance.
Close by to local towns hitchen and stevenage. Has plenty of shopping areas
The staff in receptuon were more interested in chatting away to each other then helping the customers. Requested extra towels they didnt turn up.
Comfortable common areas and efficient bar staff
WiFi unobtainable bar staff very efficient but immovable when asked to provide drinks for same people on repeat occasions without having proof of room even when all drinks were being charged to one (my) room.
breakfast buffet was really nice
Loved the onsite Nuffield gym, the free wifi, drinks and snacks in the room and the helpful staff. The mattress was also really comfortable.
It wasn't ideal that the bed was actually two beds pushed together and would have loved a larger bath to relax in after a trip to the Nuffield gym!
Our room was nice for the price
The bathroom wasn't cleaned very well
Big bed breakfast was beautiful
Room was very hot during the night, aircon didn't work. Smell of sick when in bed on one side. Bathroom abit grimey.
Excellent Wifi Good food Very good staff Free newspapers
The location, near town however in a country setting
The attractive environment both in and out of the hotel. The fact that the staff were able to provide whatever we required thus enabling us to fit around the wedding timings A large table was kept for us all to eat together
Quick check in and helpful staff in the door. Good breakfast in the morning and room was spacious with a view over the golf course. Wifi was strong and no password required.
The bath surround and shower tap could use a little tlc but nothing major.
Although not far from where we live we use this hotel as we can have a superb dinner and then stay the night without having to drive home. The bed is really big and comfortable and you cannot hear other guests, plumbing etc that you can hear in modern hotels. The breakfast is wonderful, something for everyone.
The window in our room did not open so we asked if we could move to another room with a window. Our request was met but no porterage of baggage and it was a long walk.
I had to wait just under an hour for room service. I was given the meal free of charge without asking. I thought that was a very good gesture and made me feel valued as a customer. The leisure facilities are excellent too.
Deluxe room, quiet, large bed, good sleep, had a lie in for the first time in months and then when I got to breakfast wish I hadn't!
The breakfast! having taken advantage of a lovely bed (to have a lay in) and having been told breakfast was 0800-1000 I was bitterly disappointed to arrive at 0940 to a shambles, I was sat in the bar, after the initial first coffee I was forgotten about no one came to check if I was ok or if I needed anything like another cup of coffee I had to get up and ask for anything I required, I also did not appreciate eating my breakfast from a lower bar table rather than a proper dining room table. Rant over, a good stay apart from the breakfast.
The food was exceptionally good. The staff welcoming and always helpful.
The first room we were shown bore no resemblance to the one shown on the website. However we were moved to a much nicer room with no fuss.
We arrived early and wanted to book a table at Lyttons restaurant, only to be told there wasn't a table available until 8.30pm, but as soon as I said we'll go elsewhere, the receptionist said we could have a table at 6.45pm, which we accepted, however when we turned up the restaurant was empty, and when we finished our meal, the restaurant was only half full. So do not understand why we were told otherwise.
Room was large - bed comfortable and most staff very helpful
Air conditioning did not work, windows did not open. Staff unconcerned. Room was disabled friendly not mentioned in booking. room a long way from reception
They were all very helpful with my elderly mother. And did there best to get us into dining room etc. Only shame was we were on different floors.
Woke up covered in bites. Charging £16.95 for breakfast after I spent £79 on the room is disgusting.
Everything perfect. ..keep on doing that....
