눇The building is an impressive old manor, parts of which date back to the 17th Century, surrounded by gardens, woods, and fields which slope gently down to a river - with plenty of picturesque walks (though more could be made of these). Inside, the excellent, professional staff create a very warm and welcoming environment, without any hint of the snobbishness that might sometimes be associated with this type of establishment. Our room was spacious and extremely comfortable with a large, new en-suite.
It is relatively expensive, but well worth it on the whole, (though I did think the Chenin Blanc was somewhat over priced for what it was.) The breakfast and bar snacks, however, were really good and the imaginative, well balanced evening meal was outstanding.
The halls and lounges (complete with roaring fire) are an attraction in themselves and all makes for a most relaxing break.
