Everything about it. Beautiful house, comfortable rooms, open fires, excellent food & wine, charming owners & staff, peaceful location. Would definitely go back.

Having to come home!!

Nice building and comfortable four poster bed.

Everything is well over priced. Meals were small and worth only 10% of what we paid. Bogoliase at £30 a bottle (5 euro in France) was well out of order. Fire alarm went off at 5am (false alarm) but no appologies at check out. Only for the super rich with more money than sense.

Staff couldn't do enough location and hotel perfect. Great little retreat away from the husle and busle off city life. Girlfriend was very impressed bonus points for me. Thanks

A beautiful, historic, family run, country house hotel. Quintessentially English. Filled with historic paintings and antique furniture. Gourmet food in sumptuous surroundings. A rare find.

The whole experience was quite simply charming. The welcome was extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble and the hotel is breathtakingly beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous and there were 10 of us dining the first evening. The food and service was exquisite. Breakfast was wonderful too. Our friends had their wedding in the gallery followed by a High Devon Tea for approx 60, which was excellent. Everything was lovely, it was friendly, informal and comfortable but still made us feel very special and pampered.

The hotel was very grand and the setting was beautiful. The food was superb!

The welcome smell of the wood fires,the relaxed atmosphere and elegant rooms not to mention the ever attentive staff.

Beautiful manor house set in lovely grounds. Staff were polite and attentive, the owner was especially helpful and interesting to talk to about the history of the house. We had chosen Lewtrenchard Manor to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it came up to expection.

This is a fine building of great architectural interest and furniture to match, set in a beautiful location on Dartmoor. The interior has been designed to a high standard and is very comfortable. The cuisine was excellent, not too fussy but with skilfully blended tastes.

Exquisite opulence ! Wonderful staff. Superb meals.

Food was excellent; however portions could be larger as nouvelle cuisence is now 'old hat; and most up market resturants are now serving slightly larger portions

The grounds are looking a bit tried but we understand from the manager that they had only recently taken over from the previous owners who were in administration which probabily explains the situation

The property is a charming eclectic mix of Tudor and Victorian (some truly beautiful ceilings) and a fascinating place to stay. The cuisine is the best that we have experienced in the UK, and the proprietors are truly hospitable.

Lewtrenchard is magical, beautiful and intriguing. Fantastic staff made us feel very welcome and well cared for. Comfortable room with high quality linen, great public areas where you are surrounded by wonderful paintings and artifacts, and a high quality breakfast. We truly enjoyed our stay; a great place to get away and relax.

I stayed at the hotel with my wife. It was a superb hotel with first rate staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The owner and his wife made us feel so welcome. We will be going back. The food was first class and the room spacious and very comfortable with a beautiful view over the gharden. Brilliant - even the weather was first class!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in every respect. If we are ever in the area again we will certainly stay there.

The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, making sure that we were totally happy with our stay. The room was absolutely gorgeous, very romantic and luxurious (including the most amazing shower and separate bath I have ever seen - I left feeling very clean!) and although we didn't have time to try the main meals, the breakfasts were wonderfully tasty and fresh.

Lewtrenchard Manor is a lovely old historic house with lots of character. We particularly enjoyed the open fires and cream teas. The staff were helpful and professional and made us feel very special.

Lovely old world feel and very peaceful. Excellent food especially the dinner menu. Nice not to have a TV screen anywhere apart from in the rooms.

The log fires kept going out !!!

Le décor exceptionnel d'un manoir-musée de 1620. Le calme et la sérénité des lieux, malgré d'inévitables grincements dans les planchers séculaires... Le professionnalisme, la courtoisie et la gentillesse des propriétaires et du personnel, ainsi que sa dextérité à "gérer" en même temps des clientèles différentes (congressistes, dîners, hôtes de passage) sans donner à personne l'impression d'être oublié. Ici, distinction ne rime pas avec extinction: exemple à suivre sans modération. Les jardins, magnifiques!

La maison n'est pas vraiment fonctionnelle au sens moderne du terme, mais quel charme!
